^^^ The funny thing is run the exact same set on a Luxray of mine, except for the fact that I run Roar over Snarl
Luxray @ Expert Belt
Trait: Guts
EVs: 104 Atk / 240 SpA / 164 Spe
Naive Nature
~ Discharge
~ Hidden Power Ice
~ Superpower
~ Crunch
So this is my mixed, wall breaking set for Luxray. The main goal of this set, as you could assume, is to function as a way to beat most of the common walls you run into in NU to pave way for your other attackers to sweep with no problem. The EV investment is meant to outspeed pokemon of up to base 100 speed with no investment (Miltank) while also giving you some great attack and special attack to work with. Discharge is chosen over Thunderbolt for the greater chance to paralyze faster, less defensive opponents who may want to switch in on one if its moves, can OHKO Alomomola and Mantine after Stealth Rock, and 2HKO Torkoal, Golbat, Mandibuzz, Wartortle, and Weezing after Stealth rock. Hidden power Ice is chosen to deal with Bulky grass types and can 2HKO Tangela and Vileplume after Stealth Rock along with providing very good coverage with Discharge. As for the physical side, Superpower is there to 1-2 hit KO most of the bulky normal types in the tier such as Lickilicky, Miltank, and Audino along with Probopass, Bastiodon, and Regice. Also since most walls use a status move such as Toxic, you can generally safely switch in on a wall to activate Guts, allowing your Superpower to now easily OHKO all of the bulky Normal types listed above without question as well as Piloswine and Golem and 2HKO Regirock. Crunch (non statused) can OHKO most variants of Gardevoir after Stealth Rock damage. With Guts active, you now gain the ability to OHKO Golurk and Hypno and 2HKO Musharna (if you get the para from Discharge on a switch, you can auto-induce your own Guts), Misdreavus, and Duosion. In terms of partners for this Luxray, I recommend using Sawsbuck since it has Sap Sipper to absorb Sleep Powders (the only status Luxray doesn't appreciate), resists the ground moves Luxray is weak to, and deals with Seismitoad who is one of the only pokemon this set cannot cover. Also, since this set is able to deal with the bulky psychic types and Weezing, Sawk and Primeape could also be used alongside this Luxray since it gets rid of their most common counters, allowing you to sweep with a choice scarfed set.
