[Overview]

Sigilyph is quite a unique
Pokemon. He can fill a number of roles
on a variety of
different teams, and with the right
set-up, he can become a monster. With
a lot of variety of offensive roles this
Pokemon can take on, he can become an effective member of the team.
ButHowever, every
Pokemon has its downsides
, and this one's definitely its weakness. With the introduction of a couple of Dark
- and Rock
- types, it
isn't exactly safe to switch in
into Sigilyph
into anything.
But with the right predictionDespite these shortcomings, Sigilyph can
easilystill set up and become an absolute beast.

HeSigilyph learns
a lot of support moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Whirlwind
and so on. Magic
Guard is
like a blessing to this
Pokemon, it makes stallers unable to touch this
Pokemon.

[SET]
name: Cosmic Power
move 1: Cosmic Power
move 2: Assist Power
move 3: Roost
move 4: Psycho Shift
item: Flame Orb
ability: Magic
Guard
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 200 Def/ 56 Spe
[Set Comments]

This set utilizes the full potential of Cosmic Power. With already above average bulk, Cosmic Power makes this
Pokemon almost untouchable, and Assist Power just adds to that in a great way. Since it becomes more
powerful the more stat boosts you have,
the more higher your stats are boosted, the more power Assist Power will deal to the opponent Assist Power will become more powerful as you acquire boosts from Cosmic Power.
This set needs the move Roost a lot, because any time your low on health, you can easily heal up and ts as if you just sent Sigilyph in, except it already has the boosted stats.
Roost is absolutely necessary on this set, as Sigilyph will take damage as it slowly boosts its defenses. Psycho Shift is easily one of the most important m
oves to this set, as it also allows status inducing on the
opponent's Pokemon.
SinceBecause the majority of attackers in
Gen 5 isin this generation are Physical, burn is
definitely the
rightsuperior choice as it halves the
Attack of the
opponent's Pokemon and i also nibbles away the opponents health little by little, as well as slowly whittling down the opponent's HP.
252 Hp is just there for increasing the bulk of this Pokemon by a lot, since Hp is like Defense and Special Defense mixed. 252 HP EVs are there for increasing the overall bulk of Sigilyph. Those 200 Def EVs help you wall the majority of physical attackers, which will help you when
your setting up
those Cosmic Powers.

[Additional Comments]

If you feel that physical attackers
aren't much of a problem, then you can use Toxic
Orb. It
doesn't decrease the opponents Attack stat, but
it increases damage every turn until it takes away 1/4 of the opponents health every turn the damage increases each turn. Leftovers and Hidden Power Fighting can also be used instead of
Psycho Shift and Flame Orb
, because maybe in case you
don't want some status conditions clashing
if (
for example) your using Toxic Spikes e.g. Toxic Spikes).

[Other Options]

A lot can be done to Sigilyph.
He can also use a set to counter his weaknesses, where he uses his Dream World ability, Tinted Lens, andin conjunction with Miracle Eye. That set is also viable, but then it won't be it will not be as effective to battle common counters. It can
also use
moves like Toxic and Thunder Wave for a couple of his sets, but using Psycho Shift is
more preferable
, it status induces a lot easier and Whirlwind to spread. He can also use Shadow Ball to counter
those Ghost-types,
especiallysuch as Jellicent. If you
aren't using Magic
Guard,
Safeguard is a useful move. Other moves that
this Pokemon can learn and utilize are Calm
Mind, Trick Room and Gravity.

[Checks and Counters]

The main counters to this Pokemon is anything with a Dark, Ghost, Rock, Electric, or Ice. Heatran also poses a threat to the Cosmic Power set because he resists all of the attacks. Hidden Power Fighting works very well against Dark Types because STAB Psychic type moves don't work against Dark types (with the exception of Miracle Eye unless you choose to use Miracle).

[Dream World]

Sigilyph's Dream World ability is Tinted Lens. Most people prefer Magic
Guard because they cannot be touched by status
conditions, but this could prove useful to Sigilyph in some circumstances because it
can now hit its weaknesses at normal power can deal more damage with ineffective attacks. Miracle Eye works great with this, because it lets Sigilyph hit Dark types for normal damage.
