Custom Elements:
Feral Spike: Ghost / Physical / Pow-70 / Acc- / PP-8 / Sucker Punch effects.
Flavour/Design: Bipedal saber-tooth tiger with mossy fur. However, it is kind of skeletal, so it’s ribcage, spinal column, and bones in its limbs, while not directly visible due to the vegetation covering its body, are very evident. It has the same succulent fangs as in its pre-evolutions. Among the plants that make up its fur are barbed seeds which it uses in battle, either by launching them as projectiles (Bullet Seed) or laying them in its opponent’s path (Spikes).
Potential Competitive Role: Swords Dance sweeper, offensive pivot.

Weight
: 1.6 kg
Height: 11"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Water3/Grass
Evolution: Crabbage at lvl 15
Description: Its a crab in a hardened fig. That's literally what it is! Can you take little cup by storm with a Shell Smashing Grass type? Possibly but it certainly has things that can wall its coverage, namely other defensive grass types.

Verdant Pincer: Grass type Earthquake Clone as far as damage accuracy and PP. Makes contact. No added effects

Name: Crabbage
Typing: Grass
Stats: 63/75/76/72/60/59
Abilities: Overgrow (Refrigerate)
Notable Moves: See Crayfig, add Cross Chop
Weight: 3.1 kg
Height: 2'4"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Water3/Grass
Evolution: Lobstuce at lvl 35
Description: Evolve from figs to Cabbage! That's about all. Just wait for the last stage.

Name: Lobstuce
Typing: Grass/Ice
Stats: 80/100/100/95/73/77
Abilities: Overgrow (Refrigerate)
Notable Moves: See Crabbage, add Ice Beam, Ice Hammer, Icicle Crash, Close Combat
Weight: 12.1 kg
Height: 5'4"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Water3/Grass
Description: Now it inhabits Iceberg lettuce, hence the ice type. Yes, you read that correctly. Iceberg lettuce. Shell Smashing power although its defensive typing reminds you why Abomasnow was never a top tier monster. Granted its faster and stronger and Smash is smashing good. Just watch out for fire. Refrigerate lets you spin against almost everything in sight! No Golden denial.

Name: Flaremingo
Typing: Fire/Flying
Stats: 42/40/52/60/52/66
Abilities: Blaze (Swift Swim)
Notable Moves: Roost, Drill Peck, Drill Run, Scald, Hurricane, Feather Dance, Surf, Beak Blast, Air Slash, Hydro Pump, Low Kick, Stealth Rocks, Hyper Voice, U-Turn, Fire Blast, Flamethrower, WoW, Storm Burner*
Pokédex Entry
:
Weight: 2.2 kg
Height: 1'2"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Flying/Monster
Evolution: Evolves to Plumingeo at level 16
Description: So from a little cup perspective, a fire type swift swimmer is not the biggest thing to desire. Swift Swim Hurricane however can be quite potent if played right. Beyond that, its a fairly standard first stage fire type. Its body is that of pink plumage caught in pink flames, and its beak has the look of a flame. Its feet are stubby for now.

Storm Burner: Hydro Steam if you swapped type and weather. It's your rain sweep STAB of choice.

Name: Plumingo
Typing: Fire/Flying
Stats: 60/57/60/82/65/81
Abilities: Blaze (Swift Swim)
Notable Moves: See Flaremingo, add Scorching Sands
Weight: 4.2 kg
Height: 2'5"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Flying/Monster
Evolution: Evolves to Brimingo at level 36
Description: It is now a bigger and sleeker pink flamingo on fire. Flamingo's scientific name is phoenix after all. This bird's legs are longer too.

Name: Pheoningo
Typing: Fire/Flying
Stats: 82/75/85/110/80/102
Abilities: Blaze (Swift Swim)
Notable Moves: See Plumingo, add Hydro Pump
Pokédex Entry:
Weight: 12.9 kg
Height: 5'2"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Flying/Monster
Description: Now a biggerer Flamingo with brimstones flying about, this is the strangest Swift Swimmer you'll ever meet, capable of powerful Hurricanes and burning things well when the rain stops. It has a great use on rain to shake it up vs rain stoppers who are grass types.

Its less of a Flamingo and more of a Phoenix. This plays into the fact that the scientific name of the flamingo is Phoenix. This works thematically because Phoenix is a city in Arizona.

In a sense this line is the Walking Wake counterpart for Rain with its Rain boosted fire attack to combine with STAB Hurricane and water move. Cant really boost.

Skimqito
Typing: Water/Bug
Stats: 44/50/60/60/55/45
Abilities: Torrent/Swarm (Triage)
Notable Moves: Quiver Dance, Bug Buzz, Mega Drain, Giga Drain, Leech Life, Bug Bite, U-Turn, Roost, Hurricane, Scald, Surf, Hydro Pump, Water Drain*, Sludge Wave, Toxic, Sticky Web, Draining Kiss, Sap Strength
Weight: 1 kg
Height: 9"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Bug/Water2
Evolution: Evolves to Moskimter at 17
Description: These mosquito/water skimmers suck the blood from ocean fish and sea birds. While a QD in Little Cup seems overbearing, Cutiefly had other overbearing qualities beyond the dance such as higher speed. The Water/Bug type is also underutilized. If starter bug types having swarm is too much, ignore it.

Water Drain: Special Water type Leech Life.

Moskimter
Typing: Water/Bug
Stats: 55/64/74/80/72/60
Abilities: Torrent/Swarm (Triage)
Notable Moves: See Skimqito
Weight: 3.7 kg
Height: 2'2"
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Bug/Water2
Evolution: Evolves to Mosesqito at 34
Description: Not much to add. The bloodsucker is larger and the wings move like watery waves.

Mosesqito
Typing: Water/Bug
Stats: 76/83/87/105/85/103
Abilities: Torrent/Swarm (Triage)
Notable Moves: See Above add Earthquake
Gender Ratio: 7/1 M/F
Egg Groups: Bug/Water2
Evolution: Evolves to Mosesqito at 34
Description: Big bad lanky mosquito. Not too fast to abuse QD, but with a very different type from the other QD mons. Has less trouble getting around trouble with Triage and decent coverage. Bug/Water with Flying or Grass coverage is hard to wall. It's no Volcarona!

Flavour/Design: Based on grapes becoming wine essentially being the starter to represent Norcal and more specifically the Napa Valley wines.
Potential Competitive Role: It's a bulky grass type
New Features: Intoxicating Aroma is basically flame body or poison point but for confusion.

Notable Moves:Fire Blast, Heat Wave, Nuclear Detonation, Dark pulse, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Air Slash, Dazzling Gleam, Flash Cannon, Knock Off, Sucker Punch, Flare Blitz, Explosion, Ice Punch, Dual Wingbeat
Height + Weight:
Flavour/Design: This is our Nevada, more specifically Vegas, themed starter. Basically the idea was to merge the sins of Sin City with devils. You start off with this mobster imp in extortimp, then the more flashy casino devil of Casinovolo, and finally ending up with Nukifer to represent the sheer destruction and power of the atomic bomb who's explosions have ravaged and scarred Nevada for good.
Potential Competitive Role: It's a fire/dark mixed attacker and possibly a suicide lead.
New Features:
Fallout-After this pokemon uses a self destruct move any pokemon that come out for the next five turns are badly poisoned.
Nuclear Detonation- A special fire type version of Explosion.

Notable Moves: Liquidation, Wave Crash, Waterfall, Wild Charge, Earthquake, Double Edge, Superpower, Heavy Slam, Hydro Pump, Surf, Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam
Height + Weight:
Flavour/Design: It's based on two main things the first being elephant seals. Elephant seals are native to california and the males, the big fat ones with the trunks, are often very aggressive which ties into the next influence, bro culture/hype beast influencers. I'm talking about influencers like Jake Paul who have this oddly aggressive energy that is likeable to some people. Now the biggest question you might have here is why electric? Well that boils down to the fact that these influencers, love them or loathe them, are typically very energetic plus electric seems to be the influencer type in pokemon with Elesa and Ionio both being electric type gym leaders.

Base Stats: 58 / 66 / 52 / 42 / 48 / 44 | 310
Notable Moves: Trailblaze, Zen Headbutt, Rock Tomb, Poison Jab, Iron Head, Play Rough, Facade, Solar Beam, Energy Ball, Giga Drain, Earth Power, Sludge Bomb, Leech Seed, Agility, Calm Mind, Bulk Up, Swords Dance
Height + Weight: 0.73 m, 14.1 kg
Flavor/Design: It's a lamb covered in green grassy wool. Doesn't have any horns yet because it's too young.
Potential Competitive Role: LC Guts Sweeper I guess. Relying on Trailblaze is probably bad even by the standards of that meta though.

Height + Weight: 1.03 m, 53.3 kg
Flavor/Design: It's a sheep covered in green grassy wool. Has tiny horns to show its change in growth.
Potential Competitive Role: NFE Guts abuser. Probably more viable in its own format then the previous evolution due to having Horn Leech and slightly better coverage.

Height + Weight: 1.85 m, 132.4 kg
New Features: Rainbow Horns: BP: 50 / PP: 10 / Accuracy: 100% / Physical / Explanation: Hits twice. Each heals the user by 50% of the damage done.
Flavor/Design: Tall, strong, and muscular bighorn sheep with rainbow horns. Stands on two legs (no it's not a furry but I do not apologize for making the grass starter stand on two legs).
Potential Competitive Role: With Guts, a wide movepool, a very solid typing, good bulk and power, and Swords Dance, this Pokémon is a strong physical sweeper. Rainbow Horns is a really good STAB option, and goes well with coverage such as Earthquake. Moves such as Strength Sap and Horn Leech give it further longevity. Its below-average speed and weakness to Poison should balance it, but the Pokémon should be strong enough for OU.

Type: Fairy
BP: 50
PP: 10
Accuracy: 100%
Category: Physical
Explanation: Hits twice. Each heals by 50% of the damage done.

Height + Weight: 0.33 m, 3.2 kg
Flavor/Design: Cute red bat with tiny fangs and a small amount of white fur around its neck.
Potential Competitive Role: LC Special Attacker and Sweeper. Good STAB options, Nasty Plot, and Giga Drain as coverage should make it threatening. Fur Coat also helps with set-up a little.

Name: Furrflame

Height + Weight: 0.86 m, 14.1 kg
Flavor/Design: Furry bat that’s more fierce with fiery wings and fangs, but still somehow cute as it’s not fully mature.
Potential Competitive Role: NFE special attacker and sweeper with Nasty Plot. Can also run defensive, as the combination of Fur Coat and Eviolite can make it surprisingly bulky, especially with Wisp. Not to mention it has both Defog and Parting Shot. It could potentially be good enough to find viability in PU/ZU as well.

Name: Flufflame
Counterpart(s): Rainborn, Lobstazer

Height + Weight: 1.57 m, 34.9 kg
Flavor/Design: Tall and intimidating vampire bat, with sharp claws and fangs. Its fur is now flaming.
Potential Competitive Role: Flufflame serves a variety of roles, whether it be as a fast stallbreaker or defogger, set-up sweeper with Nasty Plot, or defensive with Fur Coat. Its typing is solid defensively and offensively, on top of its solid movepool, which provides further versatility. Windflare is a fantastic signature move, providing trapping and extra chip damage to switch-ins. However, its reliance on Heavy-Duty Boots and mediocre special bulk should make it manageable but still viable for OU.

Type: Flying
BP: 80
PP: 15
Accuracy: 100%
Category: Special
Explanation: Traps the target for 4-5 turns and damages them for 1/8 of their maximum HP each turn.

Abilities:
Torrent / Regenerator
Base Stats: 57 / 50 / 58 / 50 / 59 / 36 | 310
Notable Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Scald, Whirlpool, Blizzard, Ice Beam, Liquidation, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, Rock Tomb, Zen Headbutt, Psycho Cut, Iron Head, X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Knock Off, Sucker Punch, Calm Mind, Iron Defense, Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Shell Smash, Recover
Height + Weight: 0.43 m, 8.6 kg
Flavor/Design: Tiny little blue shrimp with big eyes.
Potential Role: LC Defensive mon or Shell Smash Sweeper. Its Water typing is fantastic either physically or specially, and Regenerator is always helpful, However, due to the lacking special coverage, Shell Smash sets will probably be physical. However, bulky sets might run Calm Mind instead.

Name: Prawnd
Counterpart(s): Grool, Furrflame
Typing:
1687233415327.png

Abilities:
Torrent / Regenerator (HA)
Base Stats: 75 / 69 / 77 / 69 / 79 / 51 | 420
Notable Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Scald, Whirlpool, Blizzard, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Sludge Wave, Sludge Bomb, Liquidation, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, Rock Slide, Rock Tomb, Zen Headbutt, Psycho Cut, Iron Head, X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Knock Off, Sucker Punch, Calm Mind, Iron Defense, Stealth Rock, Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Shell Smash, Recover
Height + Weight: 0.93 m, 36.7 kg
Flavor/Design: Blue prawn with big sharp claws. Its armor is harder and bulkier now.
Potential Role: Same as before, but for NFE. However, a bigger movepool allows more variety for Shell Smash sets. The addition of Stealth Rock also makes defensive sets more valuable. Due to its bulk with Eviolite, it might even be used in lower tiers, but probably only as a wall, as it might be too weak to use Shell Smash.

Name: Lobstazer
Counterpart(s): Rainborn, Flufflame

Base Stats: 95 / 88 / 97 / 88 / 99 / 63 | 530
Notable Moves: Hydro Pump, Surf, Scald, Whirlpool, Cosmic Cannon, Psychic, Psyshock, Blizzard, Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Sludge Wave, Sludge Bomb, Wave Crash, Liquidation, Flip Turn, Aqua Jet, Earthquake, Stone Edge, Rock Slide, Rock Tomb, Zen Headbutt, Psycho Cut, Iron Head, X-Scissor, Poison Jab, Thunder Punch, Ice Punch, Knock Off, Sucker Punch, Cosmic Power, Reflect, Light Screen, Heal Pulse, Calm Mind, Stealth Rock, Bulk Up, Swords Dance, Shell Smash, Recover
Height + Weight: 1.62 m, 118.4 kg
Flavor/Design: Very heavily armored blue lobster, but taking on a more alien look. Its claws are purple and resemble giant cannons.
Potential Competitive Role: With a solid Water/Psychic typing, Regenerator, well-balanced stats, and access to several coverage and support options, this lobster can serve a variety of roles. With moves such as Knock Off and Flip Turn, it can run Regenvest sets. Alternatively, it can run traditionally defensive sets with Stealth Rock and Recover. Lastly, there’s Shell Smash sets, which work very well with Cosmic Cannon, preventing Pokémon from trying to status it in order to stop a sweep. However, it can be quite passive and slow without boosts, and is vulnerable to common types like Ghost and Dark.

Type: Psychic
BP: 90
PP: 15
Accuracy: 100%
Category: Special
Explanation: If this move successfully hits the opponent, the user is cured of all status conditions.

Decided to base my starters around the theme of discovery, which was loosely inspired by the California Dream and to a lesser extent how sparsely populated Nevada was at the time of its statehood (which meant plenty of opportunities for mining and business and all that). The Grass starters explore the forests and mountains, the Fire starters explore the canyons and underground, and the Water starters explore the ocean's depths while having connections to space. A secondary theme to my starters are also movie genres which I did not realize flareth did for their starters until I was halfway done with mine so uh sorry abt that ^^'; the Grass starters being themed around adventure films, the Fire starters around Westerns, and the Water starters around sci-fi. There's also a happy accident with these symbolizing the idea of progress; the Grass starters can symbolize the conquering of the untamed wilderness, the Fire starters can symbolize the settlement of now established land, and the Water starters can symbolize the future of exploration.

Wintry aesthetic, mostly white and covered in both pine needles and icicles. Heavily inspired by mountain men. Name is a portmanteau of "bramble" and "walker," meant to evoke Dracula's author Bram Stoker.

Effect: Hits three times. This move checks accuracy for each hit, and the attack ends if the target avoids a hit. Does not check accuracy if there are hazards on the target’s side of the field. If one of the hits breaks the target's substitute, it will take damage for the remaining hits. If the user has the Skill Link Ability, this move will always hit three times. (Non-contact)

Flags: Bomb, Mirror, Protect
Weight: 96.4 kg
Flavor: Deputy mole. Mellowing out after evolution, it still loves precious metals but is much more patient and thorough in its mining. When it digs, dirt collects within the holes in its claws. By rapidly heating up its claws, it can fire molten bullets with pinpoint accuracy and speed. Name is a portmanteau of "buckaroo" (another word for cowboy) and "burrow."
Role: Physically oriented tank with a decent defensive typing, weakness immunity in Earth Eater, and Slack Off to keep itself healthy. Offers utility through Rocks + Spin and can sweep using Spin + SD. Sunset Shootout is a stronger Fire-type Triple Axel which is guaranteed to land all hits if hazards are up, pairing nicely with its access to Rocks while also giving it a recoil-free Fire STAB.

Flavor: Still not quite sure on how it would look. Bunny ears could maybe split into zappy tentacles. Its heavily protected body allows it to survive the crushing cold depths of the sea and theoretically the vacuum of space. It shines in an array of lights evocative of distant galaxies. Name is a portmanteau of "thalassa" and "usagi."
Role: Fat tank with good-stuff typing, colorful coverage, utility in Defog + Taunt and CM for set-up. Analytic + Siphon Stinger rlly brings the pain on the switches it can force with the aid of its defensive profile and bulk.
Height: 1.9 m

Typing: Grass/Rock
Ability: Overgrow/Grassy Surge
Base Stats: 88 / 100 / 66 / 75 / 81 / 120 (530)
Notable Moves: Rock Slide, Smack Down, Horn Leech, Leaf Storm, Energy Ball, Leech Seed, Extreme Speed, Court Change, Grassy Glide, Stealth Rock, Axe Kick, Block, Trailblaze, Bulldoze, Bounce, Life Dew, Bulk Up, Surf
Height + Weight: 1.7m + 47kg
Flavour/Design: Based on the Desert Bighorn Sheep, the state mammal of Nevada with a sports theme. Gogoat, but as a Starter.
Potential Competitive Role: Offensive support.
The combination of Grassy Surge and Grassy Glide doesn’t look too problematic on it’s own, but Grass and Rock are both potent physical offensive STABs. As an aside, we already have a physical-oriented Grass-type starter (Rillaboom) that also have Grassy Surge, as such your Grass starter causes too much overlap, even if Rillaboom doesn’t have access to Grassy Glide yet in Gen 9.

I will now open the voting phase! There are not many submissions anyways.

Same as the two first phases, so order matters. Up to five, and every one less vote will substact the points you are giving by the same amount, and no self-voting unless you vote for at least one other person, and never SV in first rank.

Person A = 5 Points
Person B = 4 Points
Person C = 3 Points
Person D = 2 Points
Person E = 1 Point

Person F, etc. = 0 points, don’t do that

You only need to vote for the person’s name; only those with a completed trio submission are allowed to be voted.

The fourth slate, and we are now in a slightly more open-minded route this time.

Slate 4 - (Mostly) Poor Man’s Starters - Early Route

:sv/rattata: :sv/wurmple: :sv/fletchling: :sv/nickit: :sv/shinx:
Right after the starters, these Pokémon are the first Pokémon that the player can catch. While most are not usually competitively viable, and not all of them hold out in late-game or worse, much earlier or even when caught, they can still provide a neat option for the player to gain an edge for at the very least for the early proportion of the game. Rivals usually uses one of them as well.

Here’s the Rules
  • For this slate, there are 4 separate categories that your subs will go in: Normal, Flying, Bug, and Mammal. Each category has their own requirements. You sub may up to 2 Pokémon lines per category.
  • You can sub regional forms for any category, just as long as they fit the rules. Previously established Rodents may be allowed to be in Mammal category via regional form + regional evolution (i.e. :zigzagoon-galar: :linoone-galar: :obstagoon:), though it still must follow the Mammal Category rules in this case. Lookalikes (think of :wiglett:) of any of the below category‘s previously established Pokémon are also allowed.
  • For any slate, you can create and distribute new moves and abilities. Distribution may be slightly altered by council if voted in.
  • For the Normal category (AKA "Rodents") - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a hard BST limit of 460 (though note that every early game rodent except for Greedent has less than 425 BST), and its primary type must be Normal. Examples: :furret::watchog::diggersby::raticate-alola:
  • For the Flying category (AKA "Birds") - These Pokémon must have either a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a hard BST limit of 500, and one of its typings must be Flying. These Pokémon are also always based on birds, but that's not required, just encouraged. Examples: :pidgeot::noctowl::staraptor::corviknight:
  • For the Bug category - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a hard BST limit of 505, and its primary type must be Bug. Examples: :butterfree::ledian::kricketune::vikavolt:
  • For the Mammal category - These Pokémon must have a 2 stage or 3 stage evolutionary line, the final evolution has a hard BST limit of 525 (though note that Luxray is the only one in this category with more than 500 BST), and they can have any type combination (though note that all early game extra mammals so far have been either Normal, Dark, or Electric). Examples: :mightyena::luxray::liepard::boltund:
  • Any Pokémon in the above categories can have split evolutions; you may also give a split evolution for previously established Pokémon within these categories.
  • Other than regional forms and Lookalikes, additions to existing Pokémon such as Baby Pokémon, non-regional-form new-stage evolutions, etc aren’t allowed. If you want to give an evolution for poor Ledian, wait for the next slate.
Note! We alreasy have two ant-based early route bug back in Brazdo and Loria, so I suggest to go for an non-ant for a new early bug species. That said, regional forms / lookalikes of any of those two lines, or a new split-evo, are A-OK!

might as well try and submit

Typing:
1687792727000.png

Ability: Run Away / Scrappy
Base Stats: 35 / 70 / 30 / 25 / 30 / 80 (270)
Notable Moves: Super Fang, Hyper Fang, Jump Kick, Double Kick, Agility, Take Down, Work Up
Height + Weight: 0.3m - 3 kg
Flavour/Design: Based on the Kangaroo Rat, a rodent common in the western states, including Nevada. Very similar to a kangaroo rat in design, just like how all the other regional animals are just, like, animals.
Potential Competitive Role: Physical sweeper/breaker. Scrappy Jump Kick with that Attack and Speed isn't half bad in lower tiers.

Name: Boxeroo
Typing:

Ability: Reckless / Scrappy (HA: Defiant)
Base Stats: 65 / 95 / 60 / 45 / 60 / 100 (425)
Notable Moves: High Jump Kick, Bulk Up, Agility, Double-Edge, Blaze Kick, Mega Kick, Low Kick, Rolling Kick, Earthquake, Power-Up Punch
Height + Weight: 1.5m - 25.0 kg
Flavour/Design: Instead of being based off of a kangaroo rat, Boxeroo takes the first half of the name and runs with it. It's still unmistakably a rat, but it takes inspiration from kangaroos kicking each other powerfully, and from kickboxers (hence the boxer part.) NOT actually a kangaroo. Those don't live in the US.
Potential Competitive Role: It's like a boneless Mega Lopunny, and can do the things afforded by that role. Scrappy HJK is genuinely a pretty strong attack, even off of 95 Attack, and Reckless makes it very funny. Wallbreaker and maybe sweeper.
