Yet another Volt-Turn Team for you to Rate.

My most successful team, and also a volt-turn team. I never tried to ladder much with my previous teams, but with this team I made it to 1211 and 498 before falling due to the extreme levels of hax smogon server generates for me. Not too impressive, but it’s noteworthy, considering how bad I am compared to a bunch of people.

Team:

Gengar (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Disable
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

What do you know. An entirely unoriginal copied Gengar sub disable set! Well it helps me take down Conkeldurr and Toxicroak. I’m assuming you all know how Sub-Disable Gengar works so I don’t need to explain much. He also functions as my spin blocker for stealth rock. He can also take those toxics from gastrodon, or any toxic user. Shadow Ball for STAB. Focus miss to attempt to hit things resisting shadow ball. There used to be a Dusclops here who used to work pretty well, but Gengar covers the main problems my earlier version of this team could not handle.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 76 SAtk / 180 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Calm Mind

There are usually three jobs to the lati family that I see on the ladder. CM, scarf, or specs, but sometimes expert belt. Latios does scarf and specs better, while latias is the best at calm minding, in my opinion. Latias has more bulk, allowing for more calm minds in some cases. This Pokémon kills so much if it sets up. And it’s so dang BULKY! Maybe it’s because of the 252hp invested in it for when it’s using calm mind to set up. The Ev’s may seem weird, but I have a good reason. Pretty much anything after out speeding celebi isn’t too useful to outspeed, as I would switch or could kill regardless. It also outspeeds Dragonite, which really helps. Dragon pulse for STAB because using Draco meteor on a calm mind Pokémon is doing it wrong. Hp fire to take care of steels not named Heatran. Recover to make sure my sweep doesn’t fail to KO and then latias dies. I already explained calm mind.

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump

My first part in the original Volt-Turn strategy. I didn’t go for speed because I like survival ability over outrunning stuff when I have the choice. Volt change because for reasons I stated before, and is good for getting momentum when my opponent sends in celebi or Ferrothorn. Will-o-wisp to be my first defense against some pokemon. It also helps with power whip Ferrothorn, who latias can set up on given he does not have thunder wave. Hydro pump for obvious STAB. They do a lot of damage against all those rain teams on the ladder (no weather FTW).

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower

My second member of the volt-turn strategy. I remember on as previous RMT SD and u-turn is not really worth wile. So choice band allows Scizor to keep slugging away late game with bullet punch. If I smell a Reuniclus or latios/latias coming in, I can U-turn and possibly OHKO. Aerial ace for breloom and Volcarona (however if I get my rocks up it shouldn’t be a problem). Super power because brick break is only good on SD teams to get some coverage. Super power helps against Heatran switch-ins and other steel types. It’s a regular Choice Band Scizor to make sure I can switch into SR 8 times. This guy does a lot. I used to have Aerial Ace for those Volcarona wanting to switch in on him, but Pursuit will help me with reuniclus.

Mr. Cuddles (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn provides my only hazard, and mainly messes up the opponents in general. Stealth rock is amazing as it stops Volcarona from doing too much damage, takes away Dragonite’s Multiscale (and it rain if it doesn’t have substitute I can leech seed it even if it has roost) and does extra damage in general. Leech Seed gives Ferrothorn reliable healing in some situations. Protect can be used for scouting. Power whip does reliable damage all the time, and stops Ferrothorn from becoming total taunt bait.

Terakion @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- X-Scissor
- Earthquake

This guy. Oh, this guy. Byrne said this about Terakion in his warstory. “If I’m darmanitan, then Terakion is my bro who does everything for me.” Darmanitan isn’t on this team, put the point still stands. I can literately win matches by just weakening the opponent’s team, then sacking one of my pokes to get in Terakion in unharmed, click close combat, and say GG. It’s a regular choice scarf Terakion. He can help with this Sub SD Terakion I’ve been hearing about. And a lot of other things. This guy is the only thing saving me from d-nite and Volcarona domination is Ferrothorn dies before getting his rocks up. 2 of the moves are for STAB and to help against my opponent’s pokemon. X- Scissor is filer, used mainly for celebi. Why Earthquake? It’s mainly just filler also. However, it can OHKO Ninetales with rocks up, so that’s useful. It also can take down darmanitan; because stone miss accuracy is ass.

Main problems:

Breloom: Spore. Do I have to say much more? In case I do, latias can handle it, but if latias has fainted, I have to sac a pokemon and then wear it down, which is harder than it looks because of Substitute and poison heal.

Jirachi: Not really a problem unless it’s the CM set in rain. I have nothing to stop it once it gets up a substitute, and is usually sweeps my entire team.
There are probably more problems but I haven’t faced them yet or I do not remember them.

Hope you like this team!

Here is an exportable version if you want to test it out.

i suggest using a bulky set on rotom-w since it seems that you use it cover more. This spread works great.

112 HP / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
Modest

Try out pain split over thunderbolt aswell.
