Water Spout is an incredibly strong attack when Jellicent has an opportunity to come in on Pokemon like Mudsdale and Regirock, able to KO both at full power and KOing Pokemon like Oricorio-E after Stealth Rock. Shadow Ball lets Jellicent pressure Pokemon like Musharna and opposing Jellicent. Taunt is a fantastic tool that lets Jellicent break through defensive Pokemon like Ferroseed, Clefairy, and Audino, stopping the former two from setting up entry hazards against it, while checking Pokemon like Mudsdale and Regirock more reliably, preventing a crippling Toxic or a Stealth Rock on a predicted Recover. Hydro Pump with a Colbur Berry is an option if Jellicent's team already has a Z-Move user, providing a powerful move that isn't reliant on HP. It is, however, noticeably weaker versus targets like Eelektross and less accurate. Further, Waterium Z mitigates the downside of Water Spout getting weaker with lower HP.
Set Details

Waterium Z lets Jellicent bypass the HP requirements for a powerful Water Spout, once, with a 200 BP Hydro Vortex. This nuke can also be used more generally to snag important KOs, such as always KOing Assault Vest Eelektross after a Water Spout, or potentially KOing Choice Specs Drampa after a Water Spout and Stealth Rock. Colbur Berry with Hydro Pump is an option alongside a different Z-Move user, stopping Dark-types like Skuntank and Absol from threatening Jellicent as easily. However, the big drop in power sacrifices the 2HKO on, for example, Eelektross after Stealth Rock. Cursed Body with Recover lets Jellicent fish for disables against Pokemon like Freeze-Dry Cryogonal and Earthquake Mudsdale, but Water Absorb's Water immunity helps against Pokemon like opposing Jellicent, giving a more comfortable entry against a slower Jellicent. It may also refill HP for Water Spout. However, opposing Jellicent can predict its entry and nail it with a boosted Hex or Shadow Ball.
Usage Tips
========
Offensive Taunt Jellicent is a deadly wallbreaker that can provide a lot of defensive utility, checking Pokemon like Primeape and Alolan Sandslash. Jellicent should, however, be careful about taking unecessary chip damage and status when trying to switch into Pokemon like Mudsdale, especially if it has already used Hydro Vortex. Toxic especially hinders its longevity and Water Spout's power. Taunt + Recover makes Jellicent a solid stallbreaker, but Jellicent it must be careful about wasting its 8 Water Spout PP against special walls like Audino. Whether Jellicent should preserve its Z-Move for later in the match, when heavy chip damage may weaken Water Spout, or use it more proactively tends to depend on the specific situation. Choice Specs Drampa is one scary threat often worth removing with Hydro Vortex, once it is below 50% HP, since it semi-consistently switches into Recover and Shadow Ball, proceeding to bother Jellicent's teammates. Walls like specially defensive Torterra are other targets, since they can prevent Jellicent from making meaningful progress otherwise. If there's no particularly great Hydro Vortex target, it's very useful to save it so Pokemon like Rotom-F and Stoutland can't freely switch in later, once Jellicent has too low HP to reliably threaten them.
Team Options
========
Offensive Z-Move Jellicent fits on bulky offense and balance teams that want Jellicent's defensive utility against Pokemon like Alolan Sandslash and Primeape, but also appreciate it doubling up as a powerful wallbreaker. Pokemon that can check Drampa are essential with Jellicent. Carbink can defensively check Drampa and other Jellicent checks like Oricorio-E and Cryogonal, as well as providing Stealth Rock to help wear down said checks. Silvally-Fairy can offensively check Drampa while discouraging it to click Draco Meteor, and it can bring Jellicent in on Mudsdale and Regriock with U-turn for wallbreaking opportunities. Primeape can similarly check Drampa offensively and bring Jellicent into Mudsdale and opposing bulky Jellicent. Oricorio-E and Oricorio-G checks are helpful, such as Lanturn and Regirock. Lanturn can also help check Rotom-F and opposing Lanturn while providing Heal Bell support; this is helpful, as Jellicent is likely to take Toxic eventually when switching into Mudsdale and especially Regirock. Regirock as a teammate can instead check special walls like Cryogonal and offer Stealth Rock support. Jellicent appreciates entry hazard removers like Cryogonal, Alolan Sandslash, and Silvally-Fairy to keep its Water Spouts as powerful as possible. These Pokemon can assist in checking the likes of Drampa, Victreebel, and Oricorio-E for Jellicent. Late-game cleaners like Calm Mind or Trick Room Musharna and Calm Mind Oricorio-E appreciate Jellicent breaking through special walls, like Audino. They can also help check Victreebel for Jellicent, while Oricorio-E can also check Torterra.
