Team's looking a little weak in the BH department but other than that, I'm reasonably happy with how the draft turned out.

who the fuck let me draft ham and zesty together lmfao

AAA
lax is a good player and he's had experience playing AAA before so I decided I wanted him as my AAA player. After that, I picked Kiyo and Shiba because they're big names and can really help with prep AAA wise since this OMPL is really lacking AAA players rn. Kinda a steal tbh, no idea how I managed to draft this core. Plas is a good player and he's friends w/ ham so I figured they'd enjoy each other's company on the team while offering help/playing in both of their respective metas.

MnM
As my MnM starting player stresh is a very well recognized and capable individual and I got him at a steal of a price. Towards the end I know I wanted Multi a bit but I knew Chloe's lineup was really MnM heavy and lacking in the BH department aside from Funbot so when she decided to upbid I decided to let it go just to leech off some of her money, as my team has capable enough players in the MnM meta to be supporting stresh. Eien's a sleeper pick but he's a good overall player, stole him for 3k. Kris asked me to nom them (#snaked) but they can build when they want, unorthodox sets or standard.

BH
I really wanted more BH players but Hl took them all like a nub so I guess I'll just have to do. I did wanna get Funbot as she's definitely a capable player, but Chloe snatched that one up. No biggie anyways, that's one slot out of six.

1v1
Freddy Kyogre had a spectacular record this 1v1PL and Kaori did incredibly well himself as well. While only two players, I have no doubt that they'd be able to prep together and bring in good wins every week. Betathunder's played 1v1 a bit I think as well so...

Baiting Other Managers
When I realized I was in a good position in the draft (I'd drafted myself and my two AG players at that point) I decided to force other managers to bite for their keep. I looked at various places they were lacking in and places I needed players in and bid based on that. My general rule of thumb was that if they were bidding on a player in a tier I wanted and they already had a player for that meta, I'd upbid them to a high price and then force them to keep the player or fight over other managers for it if they kept fighting for the player. This proved to be successful for players like ihhca, MultiAmmiratore and other players. If they were bidding on a player in a tier I didn't want, I'd still bid but not nearly as much. This was enough, though, as the small extra 1k and 2k increments that I forced every manager to pay for their players proved to be useful as later on, I was able to get some players I wanted for a reasonably cheap price while if I hadn't upbid the other managers, they would have been able to steal these players from me.

That's how I ended up with one of the most, if not the most, successful drafts in the mock :psyglad:

Mix and Mega: An OMPL player's threatlist ​
Players
#1 - Stresh
When it comes to Mix and Mega, nobody is as unpredictable or as well played as Stresh is. Despite this being his first season, Stresh is very well prepared for the metagame and easily the most diverse user of the bunch. Whilst he usually dislikes playing conservatively, it is something he can very much do depending on matchup and, arguably, can play the most efficiently out of all due to his consistency in correct doubles or predicts. His teams are often difficult to guess, and it is no surprise that because of this he is very capable of luring his opponents and playing around uncommon Pokemon that might potentially give his teams trouble. With that however, he is rather vulnerable to good stall teams, due to his very high usage of offensive teams and often preps through using common Pokemon to beat it. Despite this, it is very possible for Stresh to outright beat any stall user when it comes to it, particularly due to his expert abuse of hazards and, imo, the best stallbreaker in the metagame in Magearna. Very solid pick, and if he doesn't badly tilt, Stresh should be capable of 7-0ing without effort.

#2 - Quantum Tesseract
Quantum Tesseract has shown himself in past OMPL seasons to be a rather solid pick despite having a gaping flaw with team diversity. His building style, which abuses common Fire types, is vulnerable to certain setup Pokemon, like Calm Mind Arceus-Ground, that can check the majority of threats that he uses. This is also problematic with his high usage of Swords Dance + Stealth Rock Groudon-Primal, which furthers the matchup problem against these certain Pokemon. However, it is very possible for Quantum Tesseract to use this to his advantage and change up his teambuilding style completely. If he can pull this off successfully, he's very possibly in for a 7-0 victory this OMPL.

#3 - Fardin
Fardin might not be playing MnM but he is for sure going to be one of the strongest contributors to the metagame. His creative teambuilding and amazing understanding of his own metagame makes Fardin a potentially lethal pick for almost any team member since he can just support the people he chooses to do so. Unfortunately for him, he may particularly miss a bunch of underrated offensive threats that might be able to just punch through his teams if they are 'uncommon' or 'a meme', despite clearly having success. His strong opinions bring him down, but if he is able to look past that and build solidly for the whole metagame, then I truly believe Fardin can be a 7-0 threat, even as a teammate.

#4 - Highlord
Highlord hasn't played much recently, but knows an incredible amount about the metagame. His tactics play to a mix of Quantum Tesseracts and Stresh's, in his usage of solid but underrated Pokemon and unique team synergy that makes him quite unique in comparison to most builders. His strong usage of the underrated Dragon-type may bring him down against some underrated threats but in comparison to some builders in this metagame it's one of the least concerning types to be using consistently. If Highlord gets his game together for this OMPL, he's likely to go positive, but his lack of experience in the current metagame as well as his apparent lack of teambuilding diversity (i.e a lack of more defensively orientated builds) may leave him predictable.

#5 - Andyboy500
Another ghetto threat out of the blue, however I would believe that in the same way that Stresh plays offensively, Andy can very much do the same. His expert abuse of hazards on hyper offensive builds makes him a hard player to deal with, particularly vs the common players noted here, maybe with the exception of Fardin. Andy also has a lack of known teambuilding style, potentially making him hard to deal with in the first few weeks, something that Andy may be able to exploit if possible. Definitely has a good chance of going positive.

#6 - M'joe'ra
M'joe is Andy's more diverse accompaniment, and is capable of using a variety of styles to his advantage. Like Stresh, M'joe'ra is very capable of using underrated and often questionable Pokemon to a good standard, and this combined with his generally solid backbones makes M'joe a potentially brutal player if he builds to his advantage.

#7 - Mark K
Mark K is the obligatory balance user of this metagame, and it definitely shows in his usage of underrated picks. He can play quite defensively, a rarity on this list, and this might make him a very strong choice if you are willing to take the risk. He also uses stall to a good standard, which when paired with somebody like Fardin, can easily make for a positive matchup, if not better.

#8 - MultiAmmatoire
Went completely under the radar so far. Their Pokemon Showdown name might suggest a not so solid teambuilding record, but his strengths come in his ability to counterteam the players that he faces.

#? - IT11
Has had barely any activity in the current meta but is bound to do well if he constructs his teams well.

Winning Threats:

Primal Groudon

When it comes to what people know as a defining Pokemon, Primal Groudon is usually the first thing that comes to mind. However, recent discoveries in certain sets such as SD Rest, mixed SD, and the uncovering of some previously thought bad sets such as defensive support and RP sets (Double Dance, Mixed RP) have come back into the fray as Blissey usage has declined. It is arguably the Pokemon that most effects teambuilding due to its sheer unpredictable nature and elite role compression, despite said role being severely diminished in this metagame. It is one of the few offensive answers to Entei, which was previously a rampant Pokemon before Groudon's adaptation,

Magearna

When it comes to MnM, I see no other Pokemon that defines it more than this thing. Balance is morphed around its existence, simply because of Cameruptite's lack of solid answers, especially after Stealth Rock.
