Team Preview

Teambuilding Process

I wanted to build an Offenisve team around the most powerful pokemon in NU tier,Mega Camerupt.

Recently Virizion dropped to NU and it paired well with Mega Camerupt,I went with the SD Set.

I always wanted to use Pelipper its so underrated but it has U-Turn which doesn't kill momentum of my team also checks bunch of threats in NU aswell as provides Defog support. The FWG looked solid.

Heliolisk also dropped to NU,Specs set hits hard and I wanted to abuse it.It has good offensive synergy with Mega Camerupt.

At this point I wanted an Offensive Stealth rock user,Mesprit immediately came to my mind,it also provides invaluable Healing Wish support.

For the last slot I wanted a good Fire Check,Hariyama does that job and also has nice priority.

The Squad

Camerupt @ Cameruptite
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 12 Atk / 252 SpA / 244 Spe
Rash Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]/Substitute/Will-O-Wisp
- Rock Slide

This thing is a complete monster in NU tier. The speed EVs on Mega Camerupt allow you to outspeed stuff like Quagsire,Mega Steelix,Rhydon,Granbull,Prinplup and other base 50 speed uninvested mons even after Mega Evolving.HP Grass is mainly there to OHKO Quagsire & Seismitoad,Will-O-Wisp can be used over it for crippling AV Hariyama which likes to switch into Mega camerupt,Substitute is also a good option since mega camerupt has the ability to force switches due to its immense power and getting behind a sub on a predicted switch can be really helpful.Rock Slide is for hitting Mantine.

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt/Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

Virizion pairs extremely well with Mega Camerupt,The SD LO Set is good for late game cleanup thanks to its amazing speed and good attack, the EVs & Moves are pretty straight forward,Zen headbutt is for poison types such as Vileplume,Garbodor & Weezing. However stone edge can be used over it for dealing with Xatu,Pelipper & Rotom-Fan.

+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Xatu: 398-468 (119.1 - 140.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 224+ Def Vileplume: 291-343 (82.2 - 96.8%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-S: 304-359 (100 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Close Combat vs. 236 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 377-447 (107.7 - 127.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Pelipper: 317-374 (98.1 - 115.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Garbodor: 289-341 (79.3 - 93.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mesprit: 286-337 (94.7 - 111.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Audino: 242-286 (59 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Leafeon: 238-281 (71.2 - 84.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Granbull: 196-231 (51 - 60.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Pelipper @ Leftovers
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog

Pelipper is the last member of the FWG core,Virizon & Camerupt already take care of its Weakness so no electric or rock attacks can bother this thing as long as they are alive. It functions as a Pivot and also acts as a Mega Steelix check,Mega Camerupt check,Hazard Control,Fighting check & Gatr check.

Heliolisk @ Choice Specs
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Volt Switch
- Surf
- Thunderbolt

Something like Specs Heliolisk which is fast & strong works great with a powerful mon like Mega Camerupt which can just punch holes in opposing teams,it pairs well with Mega Camerupt since Electric & Fire types have great offensive synergy.EVs & Moves are pretty straight forward. In ORAS it gets access to a Hyper voice which makes this mon much better imo.Its also another water check which is helpful for Mega Camerupt. While Grass types which give Heliolisk hard time are wrecked by Mega Camerupt.

Mesprit @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Energy Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Healing Wish

The Stealth rocker of this squad,it gives Ground immunity and another Fighting check.Psyshock OHKOs AV Hariyama unlike Psychic which is a 2HKO.Energy ball is nice for hitting other common stealth rock users such as Seismitoad,Rhydon,Claydol,Golurk,Sandslash etc.It also provides the invaluable Healing Wish support to the team.

Hariyama @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 236 SpD / 20 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Fake Out

Standard AV Hariyama,Close Combat & Knock off is all it needs. The Dual priority is pretty good as it lets him revenge kill stuff more easily. Its also the fire check on this team.Running 20 Speed just to speed creep some other Base 50 Defensive mons and other hariyamas.

Conclusion

This a pretty solid team with overall good synergy and firepower,it also has checks to almost all of the big threats in NU tier.It also lets you abuse new toys like Virizion & Heliolisk.

Hey man, great team, just one change. I think you should make your Specs Heliolisk into a Life Orb All Out Atacker. This allows you to change your moves up but still hit hard. I would still the same moveset. Best of luck :]

Solid team friend. Just two changes I would recommend. Make heliolisk Life Orb bc it's a pain to be locked into the incorrect move and it eases prediction without you having to pay for making the wrong play.

Change 2 would be running more speed creep on Hariyama for opposing hariyamas around 40 would work from my experiences playing.

Also that Leo guy sounds awesome :]

Hey Pheonixmaster1, nice bulky offense team. Team structure looks alright, though there are a couple of sketchy weaknesses.

The biggest problem I see is the lack of Normal resist. Although Normal-types are much less relevant in this metagame because of the dominance of Mega Steelix, Pokemon like Kangaskhan and Zangoose pretty much get a kill every time they come in. You don't necessarily need a dedicated counter to Normal-types, but at least something to check them would be appreciated. My best recommendation to cover this weakness would be to run Gurdurr over Hariyama. Although it certainly doesn't counter any Normal-type, Gurdurr is a great switch-in to most of them and can at worst threaten all of them with Mach Punch.

This change makes you a bit more weak to Typhlosion, so you can try out Specially Defensive Prinplup over Pelipper. This change frees up a slot for Mesprit as well, which is really nice considering its amazing coverage options. As for what you should use in that slot, Signal Beam is probably your best bet, as RestTalk Malamar could be a bit annoying for the team and being able to hit Dark- and Psychic-types in general is really nice.

Other minor changes I'd suggest would include using Modest nature on Mesprit, as it generally prefers the extra power over the extra Speed, and Life Orb over Choice Specs on Heliolisk, as it has great coverage and power that you can better take advantage of with Life Orb than you can with Choice Specs. I also personally prefer Lum Berry over Life Orb on Virizion, but that usually comes down to preference anyways.

Hope these changes helped!

Suggested changes:
@ Eviolite | Guts
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def | Adamant
Drain Punch / Bulk Up / Mach Punch / Knock Off
@ Eviolite | Torrent
252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD | Calm
Stealth Rock / Scald / Defog / Toxic

Mesprit
- Stealth Rock -> Signal Beam
- Timid nature -> Modest nature

Heliolisk
- Choice Specs -> Life Orb

I'm building off of hollywood's rate since I definitely agree with it, but another big issue is that your team has major troubles with most fast hard-hitters. Stuff like Archeops, Swellow, and Virizion look to give you a lot of trouble when you come in, since your team relies fairly heavily on slower, bulkier offensive Pokemon which can be taken advantage of. I'm going to suggest you change Mesprit to a Choice Scarf set and replace Stealth Rock with another move (likely U-turn). It gives your team some much-needed Speed as well as ensuring you can always outspeed non-Scarf Sawk, which becomes significantly more threatening if you do decide to go with Prinplup.

Mesprit @ Choice Scarf | Levitate
4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe | Modest
Psyshock -or- Psychic | Energy Ball -or- Thunderbolt | U-turn | Healing Wish

(Obviously you can customize this however you want, but this is probably the best outline. Psychic is usable primarily for Gurdurr, while Energy Ball vs Thunderbolt depends on whether you want to check Rock Polish Rhydon better or lure Xatu + a clean OHKO on Archeops after rocks)

Now as for what to replace Mesprit as the SR setter, there's probably two routes you can go. The first is to replace Pelipper with Prinplup like hollywood suggested, but if you don't like the bigger Fighting weakness that opens up, you can opt to keep Pelipper and use a bulkier set with Stealth Rock on Camerupt. A specially defensive spread (or at least a good amount of Special Defense EVs) in particular allows you to maintain a better check to Typhlosion, which is still important without Prinplup or Hariyama.

Aside from that, I'd also suggest trying Grass Knot in place of Thunderbolt on Heliolisk, since Volt Switch already covers an Electric STAB and Hyper Voice covers a cleaning tool, while Grass Knot's ability to get a quick kill on Seismitoad is nice since nothing enjoys being burnt by Scald (I also agree on LO > Specs). It's probably worth trying Air Slash or Hurricane on Pelipper too, since as I said Virizion is a pretty big threat and you don't want to give it a free turn.
