Let's see what the only gen 5 mega can do, shall we?
[OVERVIEW]
Mega Audino is very much a defensive Pokémon, with very high base defences of 128 apiece and base 106 HP. This is in conjunction with lots of supporting moves like Wish, Knock Off, Heal Bell, Healing Wish, and Thunder Wave, allowing Mega Audino to function as a defensive wish passer or calm mind user. Additionally, when mega evolved, Audino has two immunities and a resistance to dark, and that combined with natural bulk allows it to switch in often. When Not Mega Evolved, Audino has access to Regenerator as well, allowing it to heal itself and pass wishes at the same time. However, Audino is slow and often has to take two hits to perform its job, and low special attack leaves it relatively passive while on the field. Lastly, despite being a Fairy-type, Mega audino does not resist fighting, a trait often looked for in a bulky fairy.

Moves
========
With Audino's HP stat of 106, it passes large wishes to teammates. With Protect, Audino can recover its own HP by half in two turns. Dazzling Gleam is Audino's primary attacking move, though without investment it is weak, and Knock Off may be used over it to remove important items such as Eviolites. Heal Bell may be used to clear status problems such as Burn and Poison. Lastly, Healing Wish is an option to fully heal a teammate at the cost of Audino.
Set Details
========
- Because of Regenerator, This set is mainly for Audino's base form. The Audinite can be held to remove the weakness to fighting if necessary, though it is advisable to only do so when necessary and stay in the base form as long as possible to take advantage of regenerator, since Audino's role will have it switching out a lot. Leftovers can also be held to give Audino passive recovery at the cost of not being able to remove the weakness to fighting.
- Maximun Special Defence and HP to allow Audino to sponge special hits, with small defence to help vs physical threats.
Regular Audino has regenerator, meaning that it's the one that should be used more often. Audinite is held to add bulk and remove a weakness to fighting for when you desperately need that Wish. Regenerator should remain in play for as long as possible, as Audino's role as a wish passer requires a lot of switching in and out. Maximun HP and Defence are used to tank hits with minor special defence
Usage Tips
========
- Switch Audino in on defensive Pokémon such as Alomomola or Registeel, wish, and get out.
- Audino can switch in on special attackers like Jolteon and proceed to Wish due to its special bulk.
- If you take around half trying to switch in, you can mega evolve to give yourself additional bulk, though this will cause you to lose regenerator.
- Audino should only be in the battle for a few turns at a time. Switch in, Wish, Switch out. If you need to heal yourself, Switch in, use Wish + Protect, wish again and switch out.
- If a Fighting Type comes in, you can Mega Evolve and use Dazzling Gleam. Most Fighting types will be KO'ed outright or take a lot of damage from it.
- Audino isn't a fighting resist. Pokémon like Sigilyph and Uxie work great for Mega Audino as they resist Fighting while Audino resists Knock Off for them when mega evolved.
Team Options
========
- As Audino does not resist Fighting, having a Pokémon capable of resisting Fighting, such as another Fairy type, a psychic type, or a flying type allow them to benefit from Audino's wishes and take out Fighting types that might stop Audino from doing its job.
- Pairing Audino with another Wish User can yield good results, allowing one Wish user to heal the other if need be and having a backup in case one goes down. Alomomola is a good option due to it resisting Fighting.
- Being a Wish Passer, Audino works best with Pokémon such as Flygon, Registeel, and Blastoise, Pokémon that appreciate wishes as they have no reliable recovery.
- Because of how often you will be switching in or out, hazard removal such as Flygon and Blastoise are a near necessity on wish passing teams.
[SET]
Name: Calm Mind
Move 1: Calm Mind
Move 2: Rest
Move 3: Sleep Talk
Move 4: Dazzling Gleam
Item: Audinite
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 52 SpA / 24 SpD
[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
- Dazzling Gleam is Audino's strongest STAB and primary move, dealing solid damage to anything that doesn't resist it.
- Calm Mind is Audino's boosting move of choice, boosting its special attack and special defence. Combined with its already impressive defences and okay attack, it can tank hits from special attackers well.
- Audino doesn't have a one-turn recovery move, so Rest is used as an alternative. It fully heals Audino, but puts it to sleep for 2 turns.
- Sleep Talk is used to Allow Audino to keep boosting or attacking while it's asleep.
Set Details
========
- Maximun HP and Defence to increase bulk, Calm Mind will boost Special Attack and Defence so you don't need to invest in them too much.
- Minor Special Defence boost to increase special defence slightly before boosting.
- Audino can't hold an item to benefit it because it has to hold Audinite.
Usage tips
========
- Audino naturally fits on defensive teams due to its bulk, and this set is a defensive win condition.
- This set is a Win Condition, meant for late-game when things that could resist Dazzling Gleam.
- Audino, when mega evolved, can check Dark-types.
- Audino also gets moves like Signal Beam, Shadow Ball, Fire Blast, Surf, and Thunderbolt if your team needs specific coverage moves, though those are less effective than dazzling gleam and useless outside of being a lure.
Team Options
========
- Audino struggles with Steel Types like Registeel, Escavalier, or Magneton due to them resisting Dazzling gleam and hitting Audino hard. Pokémon like Emboar, Flygon, Drapion, or Virizion can weaken or beat Steel types for Mega Audino.
- Because Audino relies more on Bulk than typing to check threats, it often takes unresisted hits, so Pokémon like Alomomola can make good teammates by allowing Audino to be put back into the fight.
- Audino doesn't resist fighting, so if your team is weak to fighting you will need a fighting resist, such as Jellicent, Gourgeist-XL, Uxie, Sigilyph, or Slowking
- Audino lures in Steel-types naturally, so Ground, Fire, or Fighting types such as Emboar, Flygon, Delphox, Sawk and Virizion can be used to take advantage of this.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
========
- Audino has other coverage moves such as Thunderbolt, Fire Blast, Surf, and Grass Knot if your team needs them. However, those are weaker options than Dazzling Gleam.
- Draining Kiss can be used over Dazzling Gleam to allow healing when attacking at the cost of power.
- Healing Wish can be used as a last resort to bring a damaged teammate back into the fray.
- If you have another Heal Bell user, you can forgo Heal Bell for Thunder Wave on the Wish set.
Checks & Counters
========
**Boosting Sweepers:** Due to Audino's lower offensive presence, especially the wish set, Audino can open up free turns for your opponent. Pokémon such as Offensive Calm Mind Meloetta, Calm Mind Delphox, and Curse Registeel can switch in and set up reliably.
**Steel Types:** Steel Types pose a real threat to Mega Audino due to how slow it is, meaning unless you can read your opponent with Fire Blast, you're going to have to switch out. The one exception to this is Escavalier, who Audino can outspeed and KO with Fire Blast next turn.
**Taunt:** Taunt can mess up Audino, especially the Wish Set as Audino is weak without investment. Golbat is especially troublesome since Audino won't be able to break it, and the best it can do is Knock Off its Eviolite and switch to something else.
