[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 4 onwards

**Price Range**: 11-12 points

**Overview**: Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that takes advantage of its high base Attack and unique type combination that has extremely wide coverage to punch holes in opposing teams. With tools like Knock Off and Stealth Rock, it can also provide useful utility, and Ice Shard can be used to pick off weaker foes. However, for an offensive Pokemon, it is too slow to immediately threaten out most other offensive threats, and its defensive typing prevents it from taking advantage of its above-average bulk.

Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Mamoswine is best used to break through the walls that stand in the way of the rest of its team. Damage-boosting items assist in this.

**Entry Hazard-setting Lead**: Using Stealth Rock, lead Mamoswine can use the pressure it exerts to threaten Pokemon out and safely get entry hazards up. If used as a dedicated lead, Focus Sash can also be a way to guarantee Stealth Rock being set.

**Bulky Attacker**: Mamoswine is tanky enough to take a few neutral or super effective non-STAB hits and dish out powerful attacks back. With its great offensive movepool, it can easily run Assault Vest. On the other hand, its higher Defense allows it to be an effective physical wall if needed.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Icicle Crash, Icicle Spear, Ice Shard, Earthquake, High Horsepower

**Setup Moves**: Trailblaze

**Utility Moves**: Stealth Rock, Haze, Curse, Roar

**Coverage**: Knock Off, Heavy Slam, Stone Edge, Rock Blast

Niche Moves
========
**Freeze-Dry**: Freeze-Dry can be used if a physically defensive Water-type is expected; however, more often than not, Earthquake or Trailblaze will still end up dealing more damage, and the latter has the added bonus of bolstering Mamoswine's Speed.

**Smack Down**: While Mamoswine's Ice-type moves effectively hit most Flying-types, Smack Down can be used to deal with certain Pokemon like Corviknight and Rotom formes.

**Endeavor**: On Focus Sash lead sets, Endeavor can be used to bring Mamoswine's foe down to 1 HP it activates Focus Sash.

Common Items
========
**Damage-boosting Items**: To make up for Mamoswine's lack of reliable setup, having an item to increase its damage output makes its job as a wallbreaker much easier. Choice Band gives Mamoswine stronger wallbreaking potential even in neutral matchups, Life Orb trades some of the damage Choice Band provides to enable Mamoswine to switch moves, and items like Never-Melt Ice and Soft Sand trade even more damage potential for not losing HP.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash allows Mamoswine to get a guaranteed opportunity to set Stealth Rock while also enabling it to invest in offensive stats and deal reliable damage. It can also be used along with Endeavor and Ice Shard to pick off a faster foe.

Niche Items
========
**Loaded Dice**: With Loaded Dice, Icicle Spear and Rock Blast can become more accurate alternatives to Icicle Crash and Stone Edge, respectively, at the cost of the raw power another item would give.

**Assault Vest**: Suitable because of Mamoswine's high base HP, decent base Defense, and great offensive movepool, Assault Vest can provide a much-needed boost to its Special Defense.

**Lum Berry**: Mamoswine is prone to being statused through means such as Mew and Galarian Weezing's Will-O-Wisp, so holding a Lum Berry can mitigate this while allowing it to stay in.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Although Mamoswine will rarely touch the field more than once or twice, its vulnerability to entry hazards can be mitigated by Heavy-Duty Boots if it is a concern.

**Choice Scarf**: Mamoswine typically likes to take advantage of its powerful Ice Shard, but Choice Scarf is an option that allows it to pick foes off better than Ice Shard would.

Tera
========
Mamoswine does not benefit much from being a Tera Captain. It suffers from competition from offensive Pokemon that are faster and have the ability to set up as well as defensive Pokemon that benefit from better defensive typings. If chosen as a Tera Captain, Terastallization aids its wallbreaking potential. Tera Grass is a standout right off the bat, not giving Mamoswine weaknesses to Fire and Ice because of Thick Fat while boosting Trailblaze to a respectable 90 Base Power. Otherwise, Tera Ice or Ground to boost Mamoswine's STAB moves is probably best.

Draft Strategy
========
Mamoswine fits best on offense-oriented drafts, as it is a strong but slow wallbreaker that can pave the way for the rest of its team to win with the right support. Strong, fast cleaners that appreciate a team being softened up are good partners for it, as it should never be the premier offensive Pokemon on a team. With a poor defensive typing that does not allow it to switch in much, it also needs a defensive backbone that can allow it to find a safe way in.

**Slow Pivots**: Mamoswine needs to be able to get in safely, and the best way to do this is with a slow pivot. Both Slowking formes are especially good for this because of their access to Chilly Reception, setting snow to boost Mamoswine's already usable Defense.

**Setup Sweepers**: Mamoswine enables setup sweepers by softening walls, and it needs them to act as win conditions. Tera Serperior and Latias are good choices as fast special sweepers that appreciate Mamoswine breaking down special walls for them.

**Cleaners**: Cleaners such as Greninja and Iron Valiant that perform best against weak foes are necessary to close the game out, as Mamoswine will rarely be able to on its own.

**Entry Hazard Setters**: Mamoswine does not like being the sole Stealth Rock user on a team, so drafting additional entry hazard support like Glimmora helps it fit into the role of a wallbreaker rather than an entry hazard lead. Mamoswine can also take advantage of hazards itself, since chip damage makes it harder to switch into it. The threat of Knock Off also makes foes with Heavy-Duty Boots more wary of switching into it.

**Speed Control**: Due to Mamoswine's low base Speed, it is very helpful to draft additional speed control to not relegate Mamoswine to exclusively using a Choice Scarf. Serperior and Gholdengo can paralyze foes with Glare and Thunder Wave, respectively, and are both special attackers that have sweeping potential. Faster Pokemon, such as Meowscarada and Greninja, are effective fast wallbreakers that can also pivot into Mamoswine.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Water-types**: Due to Mamoswine's middling special bulk and its STAB combination not hitting them well, bulky Water-types like Milotic and Alomomola can take its attacks while dealing high damage back and threatening to burn with Scald.

**Physical Walls**: Although very few Pokemon resist Mamoswine's STAB combination, Pokemon with high base Defense that are not weak to either of its STAB types like Skarmory and Corviknight can take Mamoswine's physical attacks and threaten back with Body Press.

**Faster Pokemon**: With a poor defensive typing and no reliable recovery, faster Pokemon can pretty easily threaten Mamoswine out.

**Super Effective Priority Users**: Pokemon like Scizor and Azumarill do not need much chip damage on Mamoswine to threaten a KO with their super effective priority STAB moves.

**Draft Order**: Round 4 onwards

**Price Range**: 11-12 points

**Overview**: Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that takes advantage of its high base Attack and unique type combination that has extremely wide coverage to punch holes in enemy teams. With an ability, Thick Fat, that helps the Ice-type's poor defensive typing, Mamoswine provides a team with a true force to be reckoned with. However, that does not save it from being a slow and relatively frail Ice-type that struggles with getting on the field outside of being pivoted into. This part is a bit confusing to read, i would mention tools like knock off and ice shard first and then talk about its middling TYPING, as its bulk is not horrible for an offensive mon and lack of immediate speed while unboosted after.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Mamoswine is best used to break through the walls that stand in the way of the rest of its team from winning. Although Mamoswine has no way to bolster its Attack outside of Curse, that will rarely stop it from doing its job. Talk about how, choice band, life orb (attack boosting items in general) and its naturally high attack should be mentioned, as well as knock off to help cripple defensive threats. Note ice shard still allowing these sets to threaten faster attackers trying to revenge it

Mention some of the general other things it can do, Mamoswine is a potent scarfer to be an effective anti offense mon. This section could be called bulky attacker but especially note how this is just to let it deal with neutral hits as it has a lot of notable weaknesses.

**Entry-hazard lead**: Using Stealth Rock and the difficulty it has switching in, lead Mamoswine can use the pressure it has to threaten Pokemon out and safely get entry hazards up.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Icicle Crash, Icicle Spear, Ice Shard, Earthquake, High Horsepower

**Setup Moves**: Trailblaze, Curse, Amnesia

**Utility Moves**: Stealth Rock, Haze, Endure, Roar

**Coverage**: Knock Off, Heavy Slam, Stone Edge, Rock Blast

Niche Moves
========
**Freeze-Dry**: Freeze-Dry can be used if a physically defensive Water- or Grass-type is expected, however more often than not Earthquake, a physical Ice-type move, or Trailblaze will still end up dealing more damage, while the latter has the added bonus of bolstering Mamoswine's Speed.

**Endeavor**: On lead sets, Endeavor can be used with a Focus Sash to take a Pokemon down to 1 HP if your foe activates Mamoswine's Focus Sash.

**Reversal**: In the same vein as Endeavor, on Focus Sash sets Reversal can have its base power maxed out if your foe activates Mamoswine's Focus Sash, although it is much less reliable.

I'd add both of these to the focus sash section, as they are niche enough that they will most likely be limited to that specific set and thus i dont think warrant a mention here

Common Items
========
**Damage-boosting item**: To make up for Mamoswine's lack of a setup move that does not lower its Speed, having a way to increase its damage output while still being able to switch moves is incredibly useful on it.

**Choice Band**: Although Mamoswine does like to switch moves, the raw power of Choice Band Mamoswine cannot be denied. With two powerful STAB moves in Icicle Crash and Earthquake to break down walls and Ice Shard to revenge kill, it is a very hard set for your foe to switch into.
These can be grouped together as damage boosting items. Also i'd mention all of ebelt, LO, never melt ice and soft sand as well

Add choice scarf

**Focus Sash**: On lead Mamoswine, due to Mamoswine's low base Speed, being able to guarantee Stealth Rock gets up is important. Focus Sash enables this while also enabling Mamoswine to invest in offensive stats that still let it deal reliable damage. As mentioned above id add how endeavour and reversal can be used on these sets. Since they are really just limited to sash it should be here as to not make it seem like they are more splashable.

Niche Items
========
**Loaded Dice**: Loaded Dice Mamoswine with access to Icicle Spear and Rock Blast can give more accurate alternatives to Icicle Crash and Rock Blast Stone Edge?, [rc] respectively, however at the cost of the raw power another item would give.

**Assault Vest**: With Mamoswine's high base HP and decent base Defense, Assault Vest can provide a much needed boost to its Special Defense.

**Heavy-Duty Boots**: Although Mamoswine will rarely touch the field more than once or twice, its vulnerability to hazards can be mitigated by Heavy-Duty Boots if it is a concern. Argument for this to be common items, ill let you decide

Lum is probably worth mentioning, especially since you mention it getting burned by things like gweez later

Tera
========
Mamoswine should not be a Tera Captain. It is not tanky enough to take advantage of Terastallizing defensively, even with Thick Fat providing a resistance to Fire- and Ice-types. With no access to reliable setup moves and an offensive STAB typing combination that does not need any support from Tera, it also does not take advantage of Terastallizing offensively that well either. Less a should not and more a "cannot reliably be drafted as a teams tera captain" as many pokemon are more effective, however mamo does use types like grass and electric (on top of boosting its STABS) to make it even more of an effective wallbreaker. It just suffers because it has incredibly competition. If you choose it as a Tera Captain, Grass-type is a standout right off the bat. Not having the Fire- and Ice-type weakness with Thick Fat while boosting Trailblaze to a respectable 90 base power is decent. Otherwise, Ice- or Ground-type Tera to just give a boost to your STAB move is probably best.

Draft Strategy
========
Mamoswine fits better on offense-oriented drafts as it does not want to be thought about too much in your foe's preparation. If Mamoswine can sneak under the radar and your foe does not have a dedicated answer for it, its effectiveness will increase a lot more than your average Pokemon that does not get prepared for. This does nothing but say "mamoswine is good if your opponent doesnt prep for it". Its a relatively slow wallbreaker that has a bad defensive typing but strong offensive typing and tools that lets it be useful albeit with the right support.

**Slow Pivots**: Mamoswine needs to be able to get in safely Why? , and the best way to do this is with a slow pivot. Galarian or Johtonian Slowking Both Slowking formes are especially good for this because of the Defense boost Mamoswine gets from Chilly Reception. their access to chilly reception, setting snow to boost Mamoswine already useable physical defense.

**Setup Sweepers**: Mamoswine enables setup sweepers by softening walls, and Mamoswine needs setup sweepers to act as win conditions. Tera Serperior and Latias are good choices that are fast special sweepers who appreciate Mamoswine breaking down special walls for them. I would change this to Cleaners/Sweepers. The examples arent *bad* per se but i would list something like Iron Valiant and Greninja here.

**Entry-hazard setters**: Mamoswine does not like being the sole Stealth Rock user on a team, so drafting additional entry-hazard support like Meowscarada or Forretress will help Mamoswine fit into the role of a wallbreaker rather than entry-hazard lead. 1. Dont list forretress. 2, note how mamoswine also takes advantage of hazards itself to help it be a more effective wallbreaker and/or lategame threat with its scarf sets/access to priority.

**Speed Control**: Due to Mamoswine's low base Speed, it is absolutely necessary to draft speed control. The aforementioned Serperior as well as Pokemon like Gholdengo can paralyze foes with Glare and Thunder Wave, respectively while both being special attackers that have sweeping potential. I wouldn't say absolutely necessary. Sure its good, but mamoswine is slower breaker first and formost and still can run things like scarf very effectively.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Water-types**: Due to Mamoswine's middling special bulk and its STAB combo not hitting them well, bulky Water-types like Milotic and Alomomola can take Mamoswine's attacks while threatening to KO back with Scald. deal back high damage, or cripple it with a burn. (i ran some calcs this thing still takes like 40 from alo scald)

**Physical Walls**: Although very few Pokemon resist Mamoswine's STABs, Pokemon like Skarmory and Levitate Galarian Weezing can take Mamoswine's physical attacks and threaten back with Body Press or Will-o-Wisp, respectively. I'd talk about the skarm and corv notably here, as if gweez is that big a threat to mamo you run lum heavy slam and its no longer a real problem. Dondozo could also be mentioned here.

**Faster Pokemon**: With a poor defensive typing and no reliable recovery, faster Pokemon can pretty easily threaten Mamoswine out.

**Priority users**: Pokemon like Scizor and Azumarill do not need much chip damage on Mamoswine to threaten a KO with their super effective priority STAB moves. I understand why these are listed, but these are also basically the only priority users that do threaten mamoswine a lot and could even be listed in the faster pokemon section as "priority it is weak to" if you'd really like to mention it

Add Endeavor - good on sash lead sets
Can mention Endure here too if you want, though i think sash is just gonna be more common most of the time

Just be wary of the fact that other Speed boosted Pokemon will almost always be faster than Mamoswine. again that's obvious, not really needed

Tera
========
Mamoswine should not be considered as a first choice for a does not benefit much from being a Tera Captain. It suffers from competition from offensive Pokemon that are faster and have the ability to set up, as well as defensive Pokemon that take advantage of the ability Terastallize gives to change typing benefit from better defensive typings. **Physical Walls**: Although very few Pokemon resist Mamoswine's STABs, Pokemon with high base Defense that do not take super effective damage from either STAB like Skarmory and Corviknight can take Mamoswine's physical attacks and threaten back with Body Press.

**Faster Pokemon / Super-effective Priority Users**: With a poor defensive typing and no reliable recovery, faster Pokemon can pretty easily threaten Mamoswine out. Additionally, Pokemon like Scizor and Azumarill do not need much chip damage on Mamoswine to threaten a KO with their super effective priority STAB moves. I'd separate these 2

The aforementioned Serperior as well as Pokemon like Serperior and Gholdengo can paralyze foes with Glare and Thunder Wave, respectively while both being special attackers that have sweeping potential Faster Pokemon, such as Meowscarada and Greninja, are effective fast wallbreakers that can also pivot into Mamoswine.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Water-types**: Due to Mamoswine's middling special bulk and its STAB combination not hitting them well, bulky Water-types like Milotic and Alomomola can take Mamoswine's attacks while threatening to burn or deal high damage back with Scald.

[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 4 onwards

**Price Range**: 11-12 points

**Overview**: Mamoswine is a powerful wallbreaker that takes advantage of its high base Attack and unique type combination that has extremely wide coverage to punch holes in enemy opposing teams. With tools like Knock Off and Stealth Rock, it can also provide useful utility, and Ice Shard can be used to pick off weaker foes. However, for an offensive Pokemon, (AC) it is too slow to immediately threaten out most other offensive threats, (AC) and its defensive typing prevents it from taking advantage of its above-average (AH) bulk.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Mamoswine is best used to break through the walls that stand in the way of the rest of its team from winning. Damage-boosting items assist in increasing its damage output to assist in this.

**Entry-hazard lead Entry Hazard-setting Lead**: Using Stealth Rock and the fact that it has difficulty switching in, lead Mamoswine can ignore its difficulty switching in and (it doesn't use its difficulty switching in) use the pressure it has exerts to threaten Pokemon out and safely get entry hazards up. If used as a dedicated lead, Focus Sash can also be a way to guarantee Stealth Rock being set.

**Bulky Attacker**: Mamoswine is tanky enough to take a few neutral or super effective (RH) non-STAB (AH) hits and dish out powerful attacks back. With a its great offensive movepool, it can easily run Assault Vest. On the other hand, its higher Defense allows it to be an effective physical wall if needed.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Icicle Crash, Icicle Spear, Ice Shard, Earthquake, High Horsepower

**Setup Moves**: Trailblaze

**Utility Moves**: Stealth Rock, Haze, Curse, Roar

**Coverage**: Knock Off, Heavy Slam, Stone Edge, Rock Blast

Niche Moves
========
**Freeze-Dry**: Freeze-Dry can be used if a physically defensive Water-type foe is expected; (replaced comma with semicolon) however, (AC) more often than not, (AC) Earthquake or Trailblaze will still end up dealing more damage, while and the latter has the added bonus of bolstering Mamoswine's Speed.

**Smack Down**: While Mamoswine's Ice-type moves effectively hit most Flying-types, Smack Down can be used to deal with certain Pokemon like Corviknight and the Rotom forms formes.

**Endeavor**: On Focus Sash lead sets, (AC) Endeavor can be used to bring your Mamoswine's foe down to 1 HP if they activate the it activates Focus Sash.

Common Items
========
**Damage-boosting items Items**: To make up for Mamoswine's lack of (think this is what you meant) reliable setup, having an item to increase its damage output will make makes its job as a wallbreaker much easier. Choice Band gives Mamoswine stronger wallbreaking potential even in neutral matchups, Life Orb trades some of the damage Choice Band will do provides to enable the ability Mamoswine to switch moves, and items like Never-Melt Ice and Soft Sand trade even more damage potential for not losing HP.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash allows Mamoswine to get a guaranteed opportunity to set Stealth Rock (RC) while also enabling it to invest in offensive stats that still let it and deal reliable damage. It can also be used along with Endeavor and Ice Shard to pick off a faster foe.

Niche Items
========
**Loaded Dice**: With Loaded Dice, (AC) Mamoswine with access to Icicle Spear and Rock Blast can give become more accurate alternatives to Icicle Crash and Stone Edge, (AC) respectively, at the cost of the raw power another item would give.

**Assault Vest**: With Suitable because of (otherwise these two sentence halves have nothing to do with each other) Mamoswine's high base HP, decent base Defense, and great offensive movepool, Assault Vest can provide a much-needed (AH) boost to its Special Defense.

**Lum Berry**: Mamoswine is prone to being statused through means (RC) hit with status conditions such as Mew or and Galarian Weezing's Will-O-Wisp, so holding a Lum Berry can mitigate this while allowing Mamoswine it to stay in.

Tera
========
Mamoswine does not benefit much from being a Tera Captain. It suffers from competition from offensive Pokemon that are faster and have the ability to set up (RC) as well as defensive Pokemon that benefit from better defensive typings. If chosen as a Tera Captain, it will aid in Terastallization aids its wallbreaking potential. Tera Grass is a standout right off the bat, not having the Fire- and Ice-type weakness with giving Mamoswine weaknesses to Fire and Ice because of Thick Fat while boosting Trailblaze to a respectable 90 base power is decent Base Power. Otherwise, Ice- or Ground-type Tera Ice or Ground to just give a boost to your Mamoswine's STAB move moves is probably best.

Draft Strategy
========
Mamoswine fits better best on offense-oriented drafts, (AC) as it is a fast strong (think this is what you meant, otherwise totally contradictory) (RC) but slow (RC) wallbreaker that can pave the way for the rest of its team to win with the right support. Strong, (AC) and faster fast cleaners that appreciate a team being softened up are good partners for it, as Mamoswine it should never be the premier offensive Pokemon on a team. With a poor defensive typing that does not allow it to switch in much, it also needs a defensive backbone that can allow it to find a safe way in.

**Slow Pivots**: Mamoswine needs to be able to get in safely, and the best way to do this is with a slow pivot. Both Slowking forms formes are especially good for this because of their access to Chilly Reception, setting Snow snow to boost Mamoswine's already usable physical defense Defense.

**Setup Sweepers**: Mamoswine enables setup sweepers by softening walls, and Mamoswine it needs setup sweepers them to act as win conditions. Tera Serperior and Latias are good choices that are as fast special sweepers who that appreciate Mamoswine breaking down special walls for them.

**Cleaners**: Cleaners such as Greninja and Iron Valiant that perform best against weak foes are necessary to close the game out, as Mamoswine will rarely be able to on its own.

**Entry-hazard setters Entry Hazard Setters**: Mamoswine does not like being the sole Stealth Rock user on a team, so drafting additional entry hazard (RH) support like Glimmora will help Mamoswine helps it fit into the role of a wallbreaker rather than an entry hazard (RH) lead. Mamoswine can also take advantage of hazards itself, since chip damage makes it harder to switch into it. The threat of Knock Off also makes foes with Heavy-Duty Boots more wary about of switching into it.

**Speed Control**: Due to Mamoswine's low base Speed, it is very helpful to draft additional speed control to not have relegate Mamoswine relegated to exclusively using a Choice Scarf user. Serperior and Gholdengo can paralyze foes with Glare and Thunder Wave, respectively, (AC) while both being and are both special attackers that have sweeping potential. Faster Pokemon, such as Meowscarada and Greninja, are effective fast wallbreakers that can also pivot into Mamoswine.

Checks and Counters
========
**Bulky Water-types**: Due to Mamoswine's middling special bulk and its STAB combination not hitting them well, bulky Water-types like Milotic and Alomomola can take Mamoswine's its attacks while dealing high damage back and threatening to burn or deal high damage back with Scald.

**Physical Walls**: Although very few Pokemon resist Mamoswine's STABs STAB combination, Pokemon with high base Defense that do not take super effective damage from are not weak to either of its STAB types like Skarmory and Corviknight can take Mamoswine's physical attacks and threaten back with Body Press.

**Faster Pokemon**: With a poor defensive typing and no reliable recovery, faster Pokemon can pretty easily threaten Mamoswine out.

**Super-effective Super Effective Priority Users**: Pokemon like Scizor and Azumarill do not need much chip damage on Mamoswine to threaten a KO with their super effective priority STAB moves.
