Pros:
  • Massive 181 attack will absolutely leave dents on various Pokemon
  • Good 109 speed allowing Kartana to outpace most walls and a couple of offensive Pokemon.
  • Good coverage in Sacred Sword and Knock Off to hit resists.
  • Swords Dance can boost the high attack even further.
  • Beast Boost can allow Kartana to snowball through teams with certain sets.
  • Grass/Steel works great defensively, preventing moves like Toxic and Stun Spore from stopping Kartana
Cons
  • Absolutely horrid Special Defense will ensure almost any decently-powerful special attack will OHKO
  • Grass/Steel isn't exactly the best offensive typing, even if it provides nice defensive perks.
  • Suffers from 4MMS syndrome on some sets, wanting to use dual STABS, SSword, Knock, and SDance.

With a Swords Dance under its belt, Kartana can shred various mons. Leaf Blade is the STAB, hitting some waters like Tapu Fini and Slowbro, as well as grounds like Hippowdon. Close Combat hits some grass resists, primairly steel-types such as Ferrothorn and Heatran. Lastly, Knock Off hit some mons who resist other viable choices such as Zapdos and Moltres. Smart Strike can be considered here to hit Tapu Bulu, who otherwise walls this set,

Choice Scarf can allow Kartana to put work against more offensive teams. The attacks listed here are for the same reasons.
 
I wonder if Banded Solar Blade will see usage on sun. It has 125 base power, that's a 38% power increase over Leaf Blade!

I think that the Timid 19 IVs on Atk is underrated.

Atk points: 347 (equal to those pokemon with base 124 Atk + 252 EVs and a neutra nature on Atk).
Spe points: 348 --> it receives the +1 from Beast Boost.

This set focuses on increasing the chances to set-up increasing the general bulk of Kartana (in actual fact you can try to set-up in front of physical attackers) and on the boosts on the base 109 Spe stat in order to avoid being revenge killed without priority.
The increased possibility to have the +2 Atk from Swords Dance is really appealing and may be worthy of the loss of immediate power.
 
Timid 19 IV Kartana was a shit gimmick in SM, it’s a shit gimmick now. With that spread you completely nullify Kartana’s best feature: its power. Swords dance Kartana is not supposed to sweep late game - it’s supposed to smash big holes in the opposing team that teammates can take advantage of. You also miss out on big KOs like physically defensive Clefable and Toxapex.

Yeah I second band. The synergy between Kart and Rillaboom is so much better than Tapu Bulu because of Knock Off and U-Turn on Rilla. It's really nice to have these absolutely nuclear powerful knockoffs and sacred swords. I feel like I'm rarely clicking the stab moves. Your Banded Knock Off is about as strong as Adamant Black Glasses Bisharp's as a reference point.
