Jellicent (Water) [QC 0/3] [GP 0/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Water
========

* With its access to Taunt, Recover and decent defensive stats, Jellicent performs the role of a stallbreaker allowing it to deal with defensive threats such as Celesteela, Toxapex and Chansey.
* Jellicent's special bulk allows it to be a good special wall, checking things like Specs Pelipper, which could otherwise be threatening to Jellicent's team.
* Jellicent's ability, Water Absorb, lets Jellicent completely wall Pokemon who only run a Water type move as their only attack, such as Toxapex or Suicune.
* Jellicent's Ghost typing also grants it the ability to be a good Spinblocker, which is something not many Water teams possess.
* However, due to fierce competition from other bulky Water types, Mantine in particular, oftentimes it can be difficult to find a place for Jellicent on most water teams.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Taunt allows it to shut down defensive Pokemon that are slower than it, such as Chansey, Celesteela, or Toxapex.
* Recover is a good healing move that allows Jellicent to consistently do its job as a stallbreaker, instead of being worn down by the weak attacks that defensive Pokemon run, in an attempt to avoid being rendered useless by Taunt.
* Scald is a good STAB move that has a good chance to burn the target, shutting down Physical Attackers, as well as giving Jellicent the ability to status Pokemon that cannot be crippled by Toxic, like Celesteela and Toxapex.
* Toxic gives Jellicent a good way to threaten and defeat Pokemon it is meant to stallbreak because it puts them on a timer.

Set Details
========

* 12 Speed EVs allow Jellicent to outspeed Tyranitar and Celesteela without speed investment
* 244 HP investment along with maximum special defensive investment 252 SpD and a Calm Nature maximizes its Special Bulk, allowing it to take on Special Attackers.
* Water Absorb is the ability of choice here because it gives Jellicent an immunity to Water Type attacks, allowing it to completely wall some of the Pokemon that Jellicent is meant to Stallbreak.
* Leftovers gives Jellicent a form of passive recovery so that it can rely less on Recover.

Usage Tips
========

* Taunt should be used to stop defensive Pokemon such as Celesteela, Chansey, or Toxapex from using status moves.
* Toxic should be used to whittle them down faster. If they are immune to toxic, like Celesteela, use Scald and try for a Burn for the residual damage.
* Taunt and Recover should be used as necessary to ensure that they cannot use status moves to beat Jellicent.
* Scald or Toxic should be used on predicted switches to try and cripple Pokemon that would otherwise beat Jellicent, such as Muk-Alola or Hydreigon.
* Be careful of status as you switch in, as your opponent may predict your play, and try to cripple you with Toxic before you can get off your taunt.
* Be careful of hazards, such as Toxic Spikes, because they will wear Jellicent down and can inhibit its ability to do its job effectively.
* Avoid Knock Off users as it is a Super Effective Dark type attack that will hit Jellicent hard, and remove its Leftovers, preventing passive recovery afterwards.
* Be careful when using Toxic if the enemy team has a Magic Bounce user, such as Mega Diancie or Mega Sableye as they will bounce the Toxic back at Jellicent, crippling it for the rest of the match. The same can be said of Mew, which has the ability Synchronize.

Team Options
========

* Empoleon can be a particularly good teammate because it enjoys Jellicent's Fighting Type immunity, and can in turn take care of hazards, particularly Toxic Spikes, with Defog that can inhibit Jellicent's ability to stallbreak continually. Empoleon can also provide other utility in Stealth Rock or Roar.
* Toxapex can be an excellent partner because it can deal with physical attackers such as Mimikyu and Gyarados that can threaten Jellicent. Toxapex can not only deal with Grass-types like Mega Venusaur due to its neutrality to Grass-type moves but also helps Jellicent by removing opposing Toxic Spikes through its Poison Typing. Additionally providing Jellicent with Toxic Spikes support to aid in stallbreaking.
* Azumarill can help to take care of the Dark Types and Grass Types that threaten Jellicent because of its resistance to their attacks and Sap Sipper, and then it can either use Whirlpool and Perish Song to remove them.
* Swampert, Gastrodon, and Lanturn can all make good teammates due to their Electric Immunities, as well as other utility moves that they provide. Lanturn in particular can be helpful due to its access to Heal Bell in case Jellicent somehow gets crippled by Toxic
* Greninja can be good for removing the Ghost Types or Grass types that might give this set problems with its Protean Dark Pulse or Ice Beam.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Water
--------
* Hex can be used over Scald, but is generally not recommended because not all of the Pokemon that Jellicent is meant to stallbreak, like Celesteela, can be crippled by Toxic, meaning that Hex will only be a 65 BP attack, which is weaker than Scald, while also lacking the secondary burn chance.

Checks and Counters
===================

Water
--------
**Dark-Types** Dark types can hit Jellicent hard with their Super-Effective STAB attacks, particularly Knock Off. Mega Sableye in particular is a threat because of its ability Magic Bounce.

**Ghost-Types** Similarly, Ghost types also prove problematic for Jellicent because they can also hit Jellicent with their Super-Effective STAB attacks

**Electric-Types** Electric Types like Tapu Koko generally do not care how specially bulky Jellicent is as the vast majority of them will 2hko Jellicent, especially if Electric Terrain is up.

**Faster Stallbreakers** Faster Stallbreakers, such as Mew and Gliscor, can prevent Jellicent from stallbreaking, meaning that it can only attack with Scald.

**Physical Attackers and Wallbreakers** Hard hitting attackers such as Dragonite, Mega Gallade and Kyurem-B can beat Jellicent due to its low physical defense however they all should watch out for Scald burns.

**Status and Residual Damage** Any form of passive damage can cause problems for Jellicent, but be especially weary of Toxic because it cripple Jellicent for the rest of the match.

* Jellicent's special bulk allows it to be a good special wall, although Mantine does give it competition in this area due to Mantine's ability to defog as well. Moves
========

* Taunt allows it to shut down utility defensive Pokemon that are slower than it such as?. its good to give examples always so mention some of the defensive pokemon jellicent can stop with Taunt.
* Recover is a good healing move that allows Jellicent to reliably do its job. Here you will need to elaborate a little more than simply stating what is obvious, talk about how with recover allows Jellicent to not get worn out during the battle and hence can consistently do its job as a stallbreaker.
* Scald is a good STAB move that has a 30% good [not really a need to mention percentage] chance to burn the target, shutting down Physical Attackers, as well as giving Jellicent the ability to status Pokemon that cannot be toxic'd crippled by Toxic such as Celesteela and Toxapex.
* Toxic gives Jellicent a good way to threaten and beat Pokemon it is meant to stallbreak because it puts them on a timer. and cannot continue to stall indefinitely.

Set Details
========

* 12 Speed EVs allow Jellicent to outspeed Tyranitar and Celesteela without speed investment
* 244 HP/ investment along with maximum special defensive investment 252 SpD with and a Calm Nature maximizes its Special Bulk, allowing it to take quite a few Special Attacks. on special attackers such as..
A Colbur Berry could be a viable alternative, allowing it to safely take a Dark type attack, and cripple the opponent's Pokemon, but this is generally more seen on a Ghost-Type team.
[I dont think colbur berry deserves to be showcased as an alternative item as Jellicent appreciates leftovers way more, and colbur does not really allow it to do anything exceptional for water-type teams]

Usage Tips
========

* Use Taunt to prevent your opponent from using their status moves. I think you need to rephrase a lot of these usage tips and add more info here, something along the lines of ' Taunt should be used to stop defensive Pokemon such as... from using status moves'
* Use Toxic to whittle them down faster. If they are immune to toxic, like Celesteela, use Scald and try for a Burn for the residual damage.
* Then use Taunt and Recover as necessary to ensure that they cannot break you or start to stall again. use status moves to beat Jellicent.
* Generally, Jellicent will be good against walls that try and whittle down your teams through residual damage. Pokemon like Toxapex and Celesteela are prime targets for this. this point is not needed as Celesteela and Toxapex are already mentioned as target of Jellicent for stallbreaking and the point is not really a usage tip.
* Jellicent should be used against Pokemon like Toxapex, Empoleon, and Suicune where Scald is the most common attacking move, but Jellicent does have to be weary of the occasional Knock Off. If you give examples in first point then this usage tip is not needed.
* Mention that Jellicent should use scald or toxic to cripple incoming switches against it to cripple Pokemon such as Alolan-Muk and Hydreigon.

* Be careful of status as you switch in, as your opponent may predict your play, and try to cripple you with Toxic before you can get off your taunt.
* Be weary of Mega Sableye as it can bounce back your toxic or taunt and cripple you instead of the Pokemon that you are meant to beat. Mentioning Mega sableye is more suited in the checks and counters section.
* Talk about keeping Jellicent away from hazards such as Toxic Spikes in particular as it can wear it down and prevent it from performing the role of an effective stallbreaker.
* Keeping away from Knock off users.
* Talk about its special bulk and how it can be used to switch-in against some special attackers and give examples of said special attackers.

* Talk about how one should be cautious of using Toxic if the opposing team has a magic bounce user like Mega Sableye or Mega Diancie as it will bounce back and cripple Jellicent, Similarly you can mention mew due to its synchronize ability.

Team Options
========

* Empoleon can be a particularly good teammate because it enjoys Jellicent's Fighting-type immunity, and can in turn take care of hazards, particularly Toxic Spikes, with Defog that can inhibit Jellicent's ability to stallbreak continually. Empoleon can also provide other utility in Stealth Rock or Roar, if necessary.
* Toxapex can be an excellent partner because it can take the physical attacks that Jellicent doesn't want, as well most Grass Type attacks, due to its neutrality to them. Toxapex can also help Jellicent do its job by removing opposing Toxic Spikes through its Poison Typing, as well as laying down Toxic Spikes, potentially allowing Jellicent to not run Toxic. Toxapex could also provide Haze support to stop opposing set up sweepers that might try to use Jellicent as fodder, despite Taunt. Toxapex can be an excellent partner because it can deal with physical attackers such as Mimikyu and Gyarados that can threaten Jellicent.
* Mention Keldeo as well to beat Dark-types such as Mega Sableye, Bisharp and Hydreigon.
* Swampert, Gastrodon, and Lanturn can all make good teammates due to their Electric Immunities, as well as other utility moves that they provide. Lanturn in particular can be helpful due to its access to Heal Bell in case Jellicent somehow gets Toxic'd crippled by Toxic.
* Greninja can be good for removing the Ghost Types or Grass types that might give this set problems with its Protean Dark Pulse or Ice Beam.
both of which are common moves on Greninja on Water teams.

It also lacks the secondary burn chance.that Scald has.

**Dark-Types** Dark types can hit Jellicent hard with their Super-Effective STAB attacks, particularly Knock Off, and it has little way to remove them. Mention Mega Sableye here as it can wall Jellicent and cripple it with Knock Off

**Ghost-Types** Similarly, Ghost types also prove problematic for Jellicent because they can also hit Jellicent with their Super-Effective STAB attacks.

**Electric-Types** Electric Types like Tapu Koko generally do not care how specially bulky Jellicent is as the vast majority of them will 2hko Jellicent, especially if Electric Terrain is up.

**Faster Stallbreakers** Faster Stallbreakers such as Mew and Gliscor can entirely shut Jellicent down because its only attack is Scald, and it won't be hitting very hard. Thus, the only thing that Jellicent can really do in that situation is hope for a burn from Scald, or switch.

**Physical Attackers and Wallbreakers** Jellicent's defense isn't great, meaning that opponents can take advantage of this. They do have to be weary of burns from Scald, but that isn't always the most reliable way of taking care of them. Rephrase this to 'Hard hitting attackers such as Dragonite, Mega Gallade and Kyurem-B can beat Jellicent due to its low physical defense however they all should watch out for Scald burns.

**Status and Residual Damage**:

Becoming burned or poisoned will whittle away at Jellicent's health, while paralysis shuts down the speed that it needs in order to stallbreak.

I wouldn't say pex "deals" with Grass-types like Mega Venusaur considering its typing and Leech Seed, cause it can't really do anything in return bar a Scald burn.
