[OVERVIEW]

Jellicent is one of the many defensive Water-types in the tier. Compared to its competitors such as Lanturn and Vaporeon, however, Jellicent brings to the table an excellent Ghost typing further enhanced by its myriad of supportive options such as Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Recover. Because of this, Jellicent an effective switch-in to Fighting-types like Choice Scarf Passimian as well as an excellent defensive check to Fire-types like Talonflame and Charizard. Jellicent also provides teams additional utility by punishing Water-types or Choice-locked attackers depending on if it's running Water Absorb or Cursed Body. However, Jellicent can be rather passive due to its low offensive capabilities and reliance on status as the typical way of dealing damage. Furthermore, Jellicent struggles versus common special attackers such as Heliolisk, as many of them can comfortably switch in and typically are not bothered by Will-O-Wisp or Toxic.

[SET]
name: Defensive Utility
move 1: Recover
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
move 4: Hex
item: Colbur Berry / Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Cursed Body / Water Absorb
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Will-O-Wisp is the preferred status move as a way to catch many physical attackers that threaten Jellicent such as Virizion, Guzzlord, Togedemaru, and especially Toxicroak; however, Toxic can be used here in order to better cripple bulkier checks such as Lanturn and opposing Jellicent. Hex is preferred as the sole attacking move on this set because it pairs well with its status moves versus bulkier defensive answers such as Vaporeon. Colbur Berry is the optimal item in order to weaken Knock Off from the likes of Passimian or Scrafty, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used in order to be immune to entry hazards. Gigalith makes a fantastic partner for Jellicent, as not only is it a good check to Heliolisk, but with Sand Stream and Will-O-Wisp further supported by hazards, its residual damage also can severely cripple offensive answers to Jellicent like Guzzlord and Vikavolt. Conversely, Gigalith appreciates Jellicent's ability to reliably provide a Fighting immunity versus Choice-locked attackers like Passimian. Silvally-Fairy is also a fine partner, (AC) since it acts as a Knock Off absorber if Jellicent isn't running Colbur Berry and handles Dark-types such as Absol. Virizion makes a great offensive partner for Jellicent thanks to its ability to offensively check Heliolisk, Guzzlord, and Absol, whereas Jellicent can comfortably check Talonflame. 44 Speed EVs allow Jellicent to outspeed Vaporeon and Taunt as it tries to cripple Jellicent with Toxic or heal itself with Wish.

[OVERVIEW]

Jellicent is one of the many defensive Waters in the tier. However, Jellicent's myriad of supportive options such as Will-O-Wisp and Taunt, as well as offensive synergy with Hex synergy with wisp? eh I dont think going "it has hex" is really a major talking point like wisp/taunt/recover are and access to Recover allow it to outclass compete with, or something to that effect. not outclass some of its competitors like Vaporeon and Lanturn. The former being susceptible to Taunt Jellicent itself, whereas the latter has only passive recovery in Leftovers this sentence doesnt need to be here. Furthermore, Jellicent's unique Ghost typing grants its effective means as being a good Fighting switch-in to the likes of Choice Scarf Passimian, as well as being a good offensive check it's still not really an offensive check to psychics...? the fighting thing is big though to Psychic types such as Mesprit. Its Water Absorb ability can come in clutch providing additional recovery versus the likes of Choice Band Arctovish the recovery isnt important it's just stopping choiced water move spam, totally wrong priority here. However, Cursed Body is also extremely useful in scenarios where Jellicent can recover stall vs choiced attackers such as Passimian and Braviary true but this is *really* starting to drag on and be way too long, doing 1 short sentence about having 2 good abilities would be a lot better. Although Jellicent's access to Will-O-Wisp acts as a deterrent for SD Virizion, Tsareena, or Togedemaru to hard-switch into it, Jellicent struggles to scare these super-effective threats if they are already on the field this is kind of given and true, not worth writing like this. It also has a painful Knock Off weakness, meaning Colbur Berry is commonly used over more useful items such as Leftovers or Heavy-Duty Boots again a very weird way to write this, it would be better phrased as "has to choose between hazard vulnerability and Colbur to take knocks better. but since you already talk about this in set comments I dont like it being mentioned here too. And because it cannot run its desired Heavy-Duty Boots typically, Jellicent is also prone to being worn down quite easily with residual damage from hazards and status would also let u get rid of this sentence. Furthermore, Jellicent also struggles vs common special attackers, as many of them have super-effective coverage or outright counter it such as Heliolisk and Roserade.

[SET]
name: Defensive Utility
move 1: Recover
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
move 4: Hex
item: Colbur Berry / Heavy-Duty Boots / Leftovers / No item dont put no item that's just not a thing this would ever run lol. our best polter things are back to being physical grass types sooooo. also dont put lefties that's just bad why would you run lefties lol
ability: Cursed Body / Water Absorb
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Hex is easily Jellicent's strongest STAB choice here, as when paired with Will-O-Wisp or Toxic it doubles into a base 130 attack. Even uninvested still does significant damage to weaker switch-ins such as Tsareena and Lanturn does it really do significant damage to those? not really unless they've been statused. not a fan of this sentence. Taunt is mandatory as it not only prevents setup opportunities from slower sweepers like Carracosta and Bulk Up Scrafty, but with 44 Spe EVs, it also prevents defensive mons like Vaporeon from using Toxic to hinder Jellicent's effectiveness. Will-O-Wisp is preferred as a way to catch many physical attackers who threaten Jellicent such as Virizion, Guzzlord, and Togedemaru, however Toxic can be used here in order to weaken bulkier checks such as Cryogonal name something relevant please, no examples that suck and opposing Jellicent. Colbur Berry is most ideal in order to weaken Knock Off or take a Crunch from Dragon Dance Scrafty in a pinch to Wisp it this is not the usual place you want Colbur. dd scrafty is the more rare set, I dont think it runs crunch, this is much more relevant for actual knock users, like what, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used in order to nullify hazards. Leftovers is also an option in order to provide Jellicent with passive recovery delete, no lefties please. This set is intended to make Jellicent wall many a physical attacker in the tier, such as Passimian, Talonflame, and Silvally-Steel this is obvious and doesn't need stating. Its Ghost typing not only gives it a Fighting immunity, but provides teams with solid spinblocking support for hazard-stacking teams this is obvious and doesn't need stating. Jellicent's primary function on teams should be to prevent Rapid Spin at all costs, whilst remaining supremely healthy at all costs this is not really true and doesn't need stating. It should be avoiding Toxic so that way its longevity is preserved this is obvious and doesn't need stating. Because Jellicent fears Toxic and greatly enjoys being on hazard-stacking teams, Roserade is a fantastic partner. Its ability to not only provide Spikes of its own, but to absorb opposing Toxic Spikes and other statuses thanks to Natural Cure are wonderful. Furthermore, Roserade also threatens Jellicent counters such as Heliolisk by wearing it down with Spikes or putting it to sleep with Sleep Powder or like, just OHKOing Heliolisk. which it can do. why is this written like this. plus rose isnt an amazing Heliolisk stop. this sentence doesnt make sense. On the other hand, Roserade appreciates Jellicent's ability to stave off many Fire, Flying, and Psychic types such as Charizard, Braviary, and Mesprit. Stealth Rock users such as Gigalith also make for fantastic partners for Jellicent as with Sand Stream + Will-O-Wisp further supported by hazards, residual chip damage can severely cripple offensive answers to Jellicent like Heliolisk and Vikavolt. Gigalith also provides Jellicent with an effective check both of the aforementioned, and can Stone Edge the Ice types such as Vanilluxe first bit is fine but why is "it can stone edge an ice type" worth mentioning at all? just also say it checks ice types, stating that it can hit them with stone edge is wildly unnecessary. Conversely, Gigalith appreciates Jellicent's ability to act as a reliable Fighting immune vs choiced attackers like Passimian. Although Jellicent can pester some of the Fighting types in the tier with Will-O-Wisp on the switch-in, it is still detrimentally afraid this is not a phrase of Virizion and Scrafty. Therefore Silvally-Fairy or Ribombee are also fine partners. The former being a Knock Off absorber if Jellicent isn't running Colbur Berry, whereas the latter threatens Grass types like Tsareena with STAB Bug Buzz. this doesn't need to be in 2 sentences

[OVERVIEW]

Jellicent is one of the many defensive Waters in the tier. However, Jellicent's myriad of supportive options such as Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, and Recover allow it to compete with Vaporeon and Lanturn. Furthermore, Jellicent's unique Ghost typing grants its effective means as being a good Fighting switch-in to the likes of Choice Scarf Passimian see the ghost typing bit is much more Jellicent's unique offering than its support options, this really ought to be ordered more like "although pu has many defensive waters Jellicent offers its unique ghost typing and furthermore dem support options". Water Absorb is useful for blocking strong breakers such as Arctovish and Basculin, however Cursed Body is also extremely useful in scenarios where Jellicent can recover stall vs choiced attackers such as Passimian and Braviary this is written like a set comment and not like an overview, it tells you when you'd want to use things but not why they're relevant to Jellicent. What would make a lot more sense imo is something along the lines of "Jellicent also has extra utility of punishing water types or choice pokemon with either of its two abilities" although obviously not exactly that. However, Jellicent can be rather passive due to its low offensive capabilities and having needing to rely on status as the typical way of wearing down teams dealing damage. Furthermore, Jellicent also struggles vs common special attackers, as many of them have super-effective coverage or outright counter it such as Heliolisk. outright counter isn't precisely right since many pokemon that aren't immune to its stabs do that anyway, something about how they can easily switch in and frequently aren't bothered by wisp/tox would be more appropriate

[SET]
name: Defensive Utility

move 2: Taunt
move 3: Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
move 4: Hex
item: Colbur Berry / Heavy-Duty Boots

evs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Taunt is mandatory as it not only prevents setup opportunities from slower sweepers like Carracosta and Bulk Up Scrafty, but with 44 Spe EVs this is not how you insert something into a sentence with commas properly. it would also help more if you explained what 44 speed beat, it also prevents defensive mons like Vaporeon from using Toxic to hinder Jellicent's effectiveness. Will-O-Wisp is preferred as a way to catch many physical attackers who threaten Jellicent such as Virizion, Guzzlord, and Togedemaru, however Toxic can be used here in order to weaken better cripple perhaps? weaken clearly isn't right since wisp does that too bulkier checks such as Lanturn and opposing Jellicent. Hex is preferred as the sole attacking move on this set because it is synergetic not a word I want to see in any analysis ever, just say "pairs well with" with its status moves versus bulkier defensive answers such as Vaporeon. Colbur Berry is most ideal preferred in order to weaken Knock Off from the likes of Passimian or Scrafty, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used in order to nullify hazards. Due to its Ghost typing providing spinblocking capabilities and its ability to defensively check several common physical pivots in the tier, Jellicent enjoys being on bulky offensive teams it's not clear that this means much, Jellicent can go just fine on balance or semistall and bulky offense isnt all that rigorously defined either. I would just remove this sentence unless there's something in particular you want to salvage from it. Gigalith makes a fantastic partner for Jellicent as with Sand Stream + Will-O-Wisp further supported by hazards, residual chip damage can severely cripple offensive answers to Jellicent like Heliolisk and Vikavolt. Conversely, Gigalith appreciates Jellicent's ability to act as a reliable Fighting immune vs choiced attackers like Passimian. Silvally-Fairy or Ribombee are also fine partners, since the former acts as a Knock Off absorber if Jellicent isn't running Colbur Berry, and the latter threatens Grass types like Tsareena with STAB Bug Buzz ok Silvally-fairy I get no problem but why ribombee specifically? it doesnt really switch into things or pair well offensively, it offensively checks grass types but so do 40 other mons. no clue why bee gets a shoutout. Togedemaru also makes for a fine teammate due to it being immune to Toxic and providing Jellicent a safe entry vs guaranteed Togedemaru switch-ins awkwardly phrased, should be more clearly about things toge pivots on like Stunfisk-Galar.

Taunt is mandatory for its ability to prevent setup opportunities from slower sweepers like Carracosta and Bulk Up Scrafty as well as hindering defensive pokemon such as Vaporeon from using Toxic or Wish. Will-O-Wisp is preferred as a way to catch many physical attackers who threaten Jellicent such as Virizion, Guzzlord, and Togedemaru, (toxicroak's a big one) however Toxic can be used here in order to better cripple bulkier checks such as Lanturn and opposing Jellicent. Hex is preferred as the sole attacking move on this set because it pairs well with its status moves versus bulkier defensive answers such as Vaporeon. Colbur Berry is preferred in order to weaken Knock Off from the likes of Passimian or Scrafty, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used in order to nullify hazards. Jellicent fits well on several versions of bulkier teams ranging from bulky offense to semistall due to its Ghost typing providing spinblocking capabilities and its ability to defensively check several common physical pivots in the tier. (fluff, mention what partners appreciate it doing tht instead, which u already do) Gigalith makes a fantastic partner for Jellicent as with Sand Stream + Will-O-Wisp further supported by hazards, residual chip damage can severely cripple offensive answers to Jellicent like Heliolisk and Vikavolt. (u should rlly highlight how it checks stuff lile heliolisk before going into the chip part) Conversely, Gigalith appreciates Jellicent's ability to act as a reliable Fighting immune vs choiced attackers like Passimian. Silvally-Fairy is also a fine partner since it acts as a Knock Off absorber if Jellicent isn't running Colbur Berry as well as handles Dark types such as Absol. Togedemaru also makes for a fine teammate due to it being immune to Toxic and being able to pivot on Togedemaru switch-ins such as Stunfisk-Galar. (i'd replace the rat point to make it more abt offensive mons tht appreciate jelli checking stuff) 44 Spe allows Jellicent to outspeed Vaporeon and Taunt as it tries to cripple Jellicent with Toxic or heal itself with Wish.

Will-O-Wisp is the preferred status move as a way to catch many physical attackers who that threaten Jellicent such as Virizion, Guzzlord, and Togedemaru, and especially Toxicroak; (SC) however, (AC) Toxic can be used here in order to better cripple bulkier checks such as Lanturn and opposing Jellicent. Hex is preferred as the sole attacking move on this set because it pairs well with its status moves versus bulkier defensive answers such as Vaporeon. Colbur Berry is preferred the optimal item in order to weaken Knock Off from the likes of Passimian or Scrafty, but Heavy-Duty Boots can be used in order to nullify hazards.
