Overview:
Boasting an amazing ability in Magic Bounce, Hatterene is able to stop hazard setters such as Quagsire, Gastrodon and Scream Tail completely in their tracks and can use Quagsire and Scream Tail as set up fodder due to Hatterene ignoring Scream Tails Encore. Hatterene stands out as one of the tiers best tera abusers in the meta alongside Espathra, with Tera Water giving it an excellent defensive typing, steel resistance to deal with Bisharp, Tinkaton and Tera Steel abusers such as Haxorus or Salamence, Ghost Neutrality to take hits from Gengar and Polteageist, Poison Neutrality for Grafarai and Salazzle and the added benefit of a water resistance giving it an excellent match up vs rain teams, allowing it to tank rain boosted water moves that it wouldn't normally be able to do due to lack luster defense and HP. This tera has the drawback of being revenged killed by one of the tiers top Pokemon in Pawmot however, so be aware of this. Hatterene appreciates screens support patching up it's otherwise below average physical bulk and allowing it to get to +2 with Calm Mind and sweep a game using Draining Kiss to heal back damage it would take due to its incredibly poor speed. Otherwise, it makes an excellent check to Gallade and other fighting types, resisting both stabs. Hatterene has issues with the likes of Gengar, Salazzle, Grafarai, Bisharp, Polteageist and Strong Wallbreakers as well as mons who can ignore it's Magic Bounce Ability such as Tinkaton who is able to set rocks up freely against it and Toedscruel who can put it to sleep and switch into a strong physical wallbreaker such as Staraptor or spike up against it. It can also remove it's item with Knock Off which can be problematic for Hatterene due to relying on Draining Kiss for recovery.

Potential Sets:
Hatterene @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock/Stored Power
- Draining Kiss
- Mystical Fire/Giga Drain
- Calm Mind

The strongest Hatterene set available, Psyshock hits Toedscruel, Blissey and other physically frail mons for good damage, Draining Kiss is able to restore 75% of all damage done with the move so with a few Calm Mind boosts, you'll generally heal back to full after a kill on mons such as Altaria, Salamence, Hydreigon, Pawmot, and Gallade. Mystical Fire hits Steel types such as Tinkaton and Bisharp for good damage as well, you can choose Giga Drain if you want to hit fat waters for more damage and can help with annoying Gastrodons who want to Clear Smog you, making for all round good coverage for Hatterene. Tera Water is on this set for the aforementioned reasons, a great rain match up and covering Hatterenes weaknesses well. Not really much else to say, it performs it's role well as a tanky set up sweeper immune to status, which is a quality it only shares with Espeon and Naclstack who cannot match up to the sheer offensive pressure or bulk Hatterene has.

Hatterene @ Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Healing Wish
- Nuzzle

Due to Hatterene's Magic Bounce Ability blocking Taunt, it can be considered for a good screens setter which can bring in set up sweepers with the move Healing Wish which gives the screens team some nice momentum while also offering relief vs status while also spreading status of it's own, paralysis through Nuzzle, helping slower set up mons like Azumarill get the jump on some mons. This set faces competition from Espeon, who is faster and thus can get screens up more reliably and other screens setters such as Morgrem, who has Taunt + Parting Shot Prankster Screens and Klefki with Spikes and Prankster Screens who also offers paralysis support. Tera Grass is only there to try and help the match up vs Toedscruel to prevent it from sporing you. There is some opportunity cost this set has however, as Hatterene is a very good mon in screens, not just setting them. Otherwise, it performs it's just fine as a screen setter in this meta.

Hatterene (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire
- Healing Wish
- Trick Room

Lastly, due to Hatterene possessing Magic Bounce and Trick Room, Hatterene is probably one of the best trick room setters in the meta, with a low speed stat perfect to pass a healing wish to a team mate such as Azumarill or Steely Spirit Gyro Ball Perrserker to make use of Trick Rooms limited turn count for abusers to utilize. You could even try and change the set a little and just make Hatterene an offensive trick room mon, using it to clean up games in the late game. Of course there isn't much demand for this set as Trick Room teams are never really competitively viable but it is an option for those who wish to make Trick Room work.

Sample Team:

:Morgrem: :sandy-shocks: :Hatterene: :Naclstack: :Haxorus: :Espathra:

I posted this in the Bazaar Forum as well but I really liked this team so this will be the sample for this thread as well, Hatterene carries this team a lot with it just being really fat with screens support, mons like Espathra and Haxorus can clean up after Hatterene has done it's job vs the opposing team. That's it really, just find this team to be really fun to use to I recommend you try it as well :)
