:bw/golem:

Base Stats: 080 / 120 / 130 / 055 / 065 / 045 (495 BST)
Abilities: Rock Head / Sturdy | Sand Veil (HA)

Notable Moves:
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Tera Blast
- Explosion
- Body Press
- Fire Punch
- Double-Edge
- Rock Polish
- Iron Defense
- Roar

Pros:
- sturdy allows it to better guarantee rocks, and it has boom on top of that so its often poised as a lead
- electric immunity is always great, esp for mons like zapdos
- great offensive typing that gives stab on the coveted edgequake combo
- makes for some good memes

Cons:
- fatal combo of slow and bad defensive typing
- invalidated by great tusk and corviknight; autolose to like over half of the ou tier lol, the only positive matchups are like zapdos and heatran
- game freak seems to hate this mon they didnt even give it any notable tools this gen, not even like spin to relive its utility in gsc or shell smash to be a threat; it even lost sucker punch
- just use garg as a rock it can exert pressure and also has reliable recovery

Tera Potential:
- golem isnt really a mon you want to use ur tera on, but if u had to, here are some ideas
- tera grass turns ur 4x weaknesses and ground weakness to resistances while water is just solid defensive tera in general
- tera flying is similar to how grass works, but also gives immunity to ground and resistances to grass and fighting, letting it attempt to turn tides on great tusk
- tera rock or ground can just power up ur stabs, ground is prob preferable to keep electric immunity and rock resist
- tera normal and go boom to try relive some glory days of explosion halving defense, but now u just wasted ur tera on a mon thats already dead so do not recommend

Set Potential:
Golem @ Custap Berry
Ability: Sturdy
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Explosion

this is probably the most consistent golem can be in the ou landscape. just set up rocks, deal damage if possible, then die to safely bring in something else. custap is a fixture whenever available to just get a quick boom off, and u have weakness policy as option if u wanna use the weaknesses to deal more damage. golem shouldnt rly tera as other mons are higher value but grass turns many of its weaknesses into resistances should it not be at full health to survive a hit if thats something u wanna do; flying is also similar.

however, ur using a pokemon slot on something that can really only function as a dedicated lead, and one that invites great tusk and corviknight for free at that. theres just better options for mons that can function as a rocks lead, esp ones that have utility throughout the game like lando and what have u. itll prob be cool in lower tiers tho like it usually is, hovering around nu and pu, and tera is a pretty cool option for it to have which can allow it to function as more than just an entry hazard lead.
heres hoping gen 10 gives our boy some new tools to work with.

edit: custap is apparently legal, rejoice

An oldie but goldie (even if Custap's legality hasn't been implemented on Showdown yet). Just set up rocks and get a priority boom. Earthquake is there just in case any Goldengo get the brilliant idea of trying to block your Explosion, and the last slot is pretty much filler. Tera Normal to boost explosion, but since you're only ever going to run this on HO it's a waste of a Tera. This set still suffers from issues like being vulnerable to Taunt and Encore (and running Mental Herb would defeat the purpose of this set) but it's still fun.

Justice for Golem...give it Shell Smash.

Well, nothing really new but still going to enjoy having it in the game with Custap hijinks.
