Monotype Chandelure (Ghost)

[OVERVIEW]

Ghost
========

* Chandelure's outstanding Special Attack stat makes it an efficient wallbreaker on Ghost teams.
* Its Fire typing is very good offensively while granting it a handful of resistances toward several types such as Fairy, Grass, Ice, and Steel.
* Chandelure's ability in Flash Fire gives it immunity to Fire-type moves as well.
* With a Choice Scarf, Chandelure acts as one of the best revenge killers for Ghost teams.
* Unfortunately, while Chandelure's typing brings it good resistances, it's also weak to types such as Ground and Water while being another helpless teammate against Dark-types.
* Additionally, Chandelure is weak to Stealth Rock, limiting its opportunities to switch in freely.
* Chandelure lacks bulk and can't take multiple hits.
* Despite Chandelure being a good revenge killer, it's outsped by other Choice Scarf users such as Excadrill and Terrakion and faster threats such as Mega Alakazam.
* Chandelure faces a lot of competition from Alolan Marowak, being another Fire / Ghost type that also benefits Ghost teams as well, as it is a viable Stealth Rock setter, has an immunity to Electric-types, and has Thick Club-boosted attacks.

Moves
========

* Fire Blast is Chandelure's strongest STAB move, dealing enormous damage to threats that don't resist it.
* Flamethrower is an alternative for more accuracy and PP; however, Fire Blast deals more damage and has a chance to OHKO Tapu Koko.
* Shadow Ball is a secondary STAB attack that hits any threat that resist its Fire-type attacks such as Mega Charizard Y.
* Energy Ball grants Chandelure coverage against Ground-, Rock-, and Water-types such as Rhyperior and Swampert.
* Trick cripples defensive Pokemon such as Chansey.

Set Details
========

* Maximum Speed and Special Attack EVs with an Timid nature maximize Chandelure's damage output while making it as fast as possible.
* 4 Special Defense EVs prevent Porygon-Z and Porygon2 from receiving a Special Attack boost from Download.
* Choice Scarf allows Chandelure to be a great revenge killer and outspeed threats such as Tapu Koko and Greninja.
* Flash Fire is Chandelure's best ability, absorbing any Fire-type move and immensely boosts Fire Blast's power.

Usage Tips
========

* Chandelure functions best as a revenge killer and should be brought in after letting a Pokemon get KOed to revenge kill the opposing Pokemon.
* Chandelure can be used early-game to wallbreak to support its teammates thanks to its outstanding Special Attack stat; however, Chandelure can also be used mid- to late-game as a cleaner.
* As Chandelure's bulk isn't great, try bringing it in on a fainted teammate.
* Chandelure can also be brought in to deal great damage to threats, such as using Fire Blast on Tapu Koko.
* Make sure to use Trick to cripple defensive Pokemon such as Porygon, Toxapex, and Chansey so that Chandelure's team has an easier time dealing with them.
* Utilize Chandelure's Flash Fire ability to switch into Fire-type attacks to keep its teammates safe from taking any damage.
* Chandelure should be spamming Fire Blast and Shadow Ball throughout the match against threats that don't resist either one or both its STAB attacks.
* Be careful when locking Chandelure to a coverage move such as Energy Ball,as it can easily force Chandelure out; for example, Landorus-T can easily switch in on Chandelure targeting Seismitoad with Energy Ball.
* Keep Chandelure away from status such as paralysis, as it hinders Chandelure's role as a revenge killer.
* While entry hazards are out, Chandelure shouldn't be switching in often, as they wear Chandelure down quickly and make it easier to KO it.
* Make sure to utilize Chandelure's teammates such as Mega Sableye, Dhelmise, and Decidueye to keep entry hazards off the field so Chandelure can pivot more freely.
* While Chandelure beats several threats due to its high Special Attack stat and Fire Blast's high Base Power, special walls such as Mantine can stop Chandelure in its tracks.

Team Options
========

* Mega Sableye is an excellent partner for Chandelure, being able to keep status and entry hazards off the field thanks to Magic Bounce. Mega Sableye can switch in to sponge Knock Off and cripple physical attackers for Chandelure.
* Mimikyu is a great setup sweeper thanks to its Fairy typing, and it can check Dark-types and take on Dragon-types such as Hydreigon.
* Doublade is another great physical setup sweepers that complements Chandelure's Special Attacks, and it is able to take on Chansey.
* Gengar is a great special attacker and has excellent coverage, so both it and Chandelure can apply pressure on physically defensive threats. Chandelure can use Trick to cripple defensive walls such as Chansey for Gengar to clean up.
* Jellicent can take Water-type attacks and switch into special attacks for Chandelure. It can also help in wearing down the opposing team with Toxic + Recover.
* Chandelure appreciates Stealth Rock support from Golurk to easily KO threats. Golurk can also take on Rock-types that threaten Chandelure such as Armaldo and Terrakion.
* Dhelmise and Decidueye provide entry hazard removal thanks to Rapid Spin and Defog, respectively. They can also switch into a predicted Ground-type attack due to their Grass typing.
* Gourgeist-XL is also good as a switch-in to Ground-type attacks for Chandelure too. It can cripple physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp and provide Leech Seed support.
* In return, Chandelure can switch into Fire-type attacks for Dhelmise, Decidueye, and Gourgeist-XL.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Ghost
--------
* Infiltrator can be used instead of Flash Fire to ignore the effects of dual screens Klefki and hitting threats such as Zapdos behind a Substitute, but Chandelure loses out on Fire immunity and thus a boost in Fire Blast.
* Choice Specs increases Chandelure's damage output even more, making it an even more powerful wallbreaker; however, Choice Scarf is more superior for revenge killing and outspeeding, and Ghost teams prefer fast attackers. If using Choice Specs, Chandelure becomes more vulnerable to being attacked first by faster threats such as Mega Pinsir.

Checks and Counters
===================

Ghost
--------
**Dark-types**: Speed Boost Sharpedo can outspeed Chandelure after a Protect, and Tyranitar can tank an Energy Ball very well, while both can OHKO Chandelure with their STAB moves. Furthermore, Tyranitar can Pursuit trap Chandelure as soon as it switches out. Bisharp can easily eliminate Chandelure with Sucker Punch. Hydreigon resists all of Chandelure's attacks and KOes it with Dark Pulse.

*Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey, Assault Vest Alolan Muk, and Zapdos are able to tank all of Chandelure's attacks, but they also need to be careful of Trick.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Toxapex, Sap Sipper Azumaril, and Mantine can all wear Chandelure down with Scald while tanking Shadow Ball and Energy Ball. However, they need to be wary of Trick locking them into a move.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Choice Scarf Nihilego can easily KO Chandelure , while Mega Aerodactyl still outspeeds Chandelure and can KO it with Stone Edge. The majority of Rock-types are able to switch into a Fire Blast; however, they need to be careful when switching into Energy Ball.

**Revenge Killers**: Choice Scarf users such as Terrakion, Landorus-T, Kyurem-B, and Excadrill can outspeed Chandelure and KO it with their super effective STAB attacks. However, Excadrill needs to be wary of switching into a Fire Blast.

**Paralysis**: Chandelure despises being paralyzed, which ruins its role as a revenge killer.

**Entry Hazards**: Chandelure hates switching into entry hazards, as they limit its opportunities upon switching in and wear it down quicker.

[OVERVIEW]

* Its Fire typing is very good offensively, while granting it a handful of resistances toward several types.
- Examples.
* Unfortunately, while Chandelure's typing brings it good resistances, it's also weak several types as well such as stacking another Dark-type weakness.
- Last bit is kinda weird, almost every Ghost-type stacks the Dark weakness. Reword it a bit to imply it doesn't help with any of the types Ghost is weak to.

Moves

* Shadow Ball is a secondary STAB attack that hits any threat that resist its Fire-type attacks.
- Give an example, Mega Charizard Y is a pretty good one.
* Energy Ball grants Chandelure coverage in checking Ground-, Rock-, and Water-types such as.
- Complete the sentence.

Set Details

* Flash Fire is Chandelure's best ability in absorbing any Fire-type move and will immensely boost Fire Blast's power, hitting harder and OHKO specially defensive Celesteela.
- Very unnecessary.

Usage Tips

* Chandelure functions best as a revenge killer once all its checks are weakened or gone.
- A revenge killer is supposed to revenge kill a threat after sac'ing something. Either change 'revenge killer' to 'late-game cleaner' or reword the latter portion. (Personally, i'd reword the latter portion because Chandelure's role is a revenge killer and changing it to a late-game cleaner would be similar to the next bullet. Change it to something like 'Chandelure functions best as a revenge killer and should be brought in after letting a Pokemon get KOed to revenge kill the foe')
* While Chandelure's bulk isn't great, try bringing it in on a fainted teammate.
- 'While'? Shouldn't it be 'As'?

Team Options

* Gengar is a great special attacker has excellent coverage so it can assist Chandelure in applying pressure on physically defensive threats.
- Either can be used to wear down their shared checks and Chandelure even has Trick to cripple specially defensive walls such as Chansey to make it easier for Gengar to clean up.
* Chandelure appreciates Stealth Rock support from Golurk to easily KO threats. Golurk can also take on those that threaten Chandelure such as Tyranitar and Choice Scarf Xurkitree locked into a Thunderbolt.
- Xurkitree isn't as threatening as Rock-types and Tyranitar can have Dark-type STAB, change the second line to 'Golurk can also take on Rock-type Pokemon such as Armaldo and Terrakion that can threaten Chandelure.' (Or any other examples, these are just some that popped up in my mind)
- Froslass is honestly just no.

Other Options

- Infiltrator.
- Remove Memento, Choice Specs isn't great either but I guess it can stay for now because i'm not too sure.

Checks and Counters

- Just add Hydreigon to Dark-types.
- Ground-types.
- Rock-types.

Good job QC 1/3

Overview:
- Pretty important to note it even gets outsped by Mega Alakazam, which is kind of an issue when it's supposed to be revenge killing that sort of threat.

Moves:
- What KOs does Flamethrower miss out on that Fire Blast gets?

Usage Tips:
- Talk about when to use Trick if at all.
- Should add switch into Fire-type moves
- Poison really doesn't hurt Chandelure much. It's a hit-and-run attacker and won't be sticking around for too long. Paralysis is the problem.
- Speaking of which, talk about bringing Chandelure in, firing off a powerful attack or two, and switching right back out.
- Note about wallbreaking that while Chandelure easily beats a lot of threats due to its great Special Attack and Fire Blast's high Base Power, special walls in general stop it cold.

Team Options:
- Clefable is 2HKOed by Fire Blast. I don't think you need to mention that Doublade beats Fairy-types.
- Mimikyu checking Dark-types shouldn't be an afterthought. It's why Mimikyu is one of the best teammates for any Ghost-type.
- Should mention that Chandelure switches into Fire-type attacks for the Ghost / Grass types.

Other Options:
- Life Orb is bad, remove it.
- SubCM isn't a thing.
- Explain why Choice Specs isn't as useful for Ghost teams. Obviously a Choice Scarf makes Chandelure better at revenge killing, but you should explain why that is more important for Ghost teams than wallbreaking with Choice Specs.

Checks and Counters:
- Note that Tyranitar Pursuit traps Chandelure too.
- Rock-types should say that they switch into Fire Blast but should be careful of Energy Ball.
- Ground-types can go in Revenge Killers.

Nicely done QC 2/3
