i made a
post on tech support about this issue, but i ended up finding out some stuff on my own so it's probably better to put it here.
basically, i was running into an issue where i couldn't connect to non-main servers, and very specifically only non-main servers. smogon university was still working fine, this problem only happens when going on stuff like the smogon tourney servers. quickly checking chrome console gave me
Code:
crossdomain.php?host=rom.psim.us&path=:13 Failed to execute 'postMessage' on 'DOMWindow': The target origin provided ('http://rom.psim.us') does not match the recipient window's origin ('https://rom.psim.us').
which google tells me means that it wants
http://, but it's getting https:// and so it's getting confused about that. so i switch to the http version, and i instead get:
Code:
XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://tinderbox.redirectme.net:8000/info?t=1505093017434. Redirect from 'http://tinderbox.redirectme.net:8000/info?t=1505093017434' to 'https://block.malwarebytes.com/' has been blocked by CORS policy: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource. Origin 'http://rom.psim.us' is therefore not allowed access.
turns out my malwarebytes had a setting for "web protection", and for whatever reason that setting being on makes the client not want to connect, so turning it off made it work just fine.
...although chrome is now also blocking me from trying to click "more options..." when this post is typed out, unless i make the post blank, then paste it back in after. weird.
