Week 3 AG: Thanks Zangooser for providing an AG team for week 3 <3

I used this team to get to ~1930 on the Anything Goes ladder, as it features quite a rare Gengar set and focuses on quite an abstract mix of offense and bulk, as the majority of the team is semi-stall however some offense is needed to make the team less weak to extreme stall and awkward variants of HO. The team itself features a PerishTrap + Disable Mega Gengar which enables checking of different Darkrai variants due to its new found versatility within the metagame, running Taunt and even Hidden Power Steel on some sets. Ferrothorn enables a nice backbone to Kyogre and Diancie while also being able to set up Stealth Rock efficiently when not faced with a Primal Groudon lead. Primal Kyogre nullifies Ferrothorn's fire weakness, and forces Primal Groudon out to allow Stealth Rock to be set up without worrying about potential fire coverage. Darkrai is a nice addition to the team due to its lack of checks, and the decrease of Sleep Talk users within the metagame due to the abundance of 'TauntRai sets'. It provides an easy solution to Primal Groudon, CM Arc formes and Yveltal, which is quite nice as it can abuse sleep turns to set up on these Pokémon. Arceus-Ground focuses on being able to come in on the Primal Groudon switch in when Primal Kyogre is out, ensuring the nullification of Kyogre isn't detrimental to the success of the team. Having an extra check for such a common Pokémon is extremely useful, as well as the general confusion with the Physical/Special orientation of Arceus-Ground being extremely useful within the current metagame as mixed walls such as Lugia are non-existent. Lastly, an ExtremeKiller Arceus was added to serve as a decent revenge killer, Yveltal bait and also just provide the offensive pressure the team required to be successful against the myriad of stall teams within the metagame.

Not quite fair since MMX donks this team. Best check is getting Groundceus in as fast as possible, but that still gets weakened and has a tough time facing Mewtwo. So once you've capitalized on Groundceus being weakened, Zekrom can come in and clean. You can also volt on ferro into MMX for more free setup opportunities. Both also put a lot of pressure on Darkrai which is nice. Oh and MMX lives +2 jolly LO Espeed form Arc.
edit: I didn't specifically mention this but in case it wasn't obvious, Zekrom is also there to annoy Ogre although MMX can get through it once weakened esp if no scald burn. Also added sprites.

Do you have calcs for Mewtwo vs Arceus-Normal and Kyogre? I'd like to see them, but it is true that both mewtwos bop this team...

You could always run the calcs yourself. But...
0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Drain Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 242-288 (63.3 - 75.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Drain Punch vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 366-432 (95.8 - 113%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Life Orb Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mega Mewtwo X: 161-191 (38.7 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Life Orb Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mega Mewtwo X: 320-378 (76.9 - 90.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Drain Punch vs. 248 HP / 248+ Def Primal Kyogre: 109-130 (27 - 32.2%) -- 72.4% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Drain Punch vs. 248 HP / 248+ Def Primal Kyogre: 165-195 (40.9 - 48.3%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 SpA Primal Kyogre Scald vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Mewtwo X in Heavy Rain: 217-256 (52.1 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

But, if you run low kick
0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 390-458 (102 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 Atk Mega Mewtwo X Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 248+ Def Primal Kyogre: 177-208 (43.9 - 51.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Mewtwo lead. Mewtwo beats anything that comes in. E killer lead is probably the best of them all, which is burned by wisp and OHKO'd by fmiss. If groundceus follows next, it is burned and set up on by Mray/2hko'd. Mgar, Ferro and rai are all OHKO'd. P ogre is crippled brutally by psystrike and set up on by Mray. Mray sweeps.

252 SpA Mega Mewtwo Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 424-500 (120.4 - 142%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Mega Mewtwo Y Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Primal Kyogre: 236-278 (58.5 - 68.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ground-Ceus is similar (120 BP Super Effective)

This comes in and cleans up after the mons are damaged, as you can see the damage it does is over half so as long as you set up hazards (no defog is nice xD) and weaken abit you'll be good.

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 96 Atk / 252 SpA / 104 SpD / 56 Spe
Mild Nature
- Rock Polish
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Precipice Blades

So the basic thing I noticed on Zangooser's team was that he looked super weak to Rock Polish Primal-Groudon with Fire Blast; which solos his entire team bar Primal Kyogre after a Rock Polish. It can Rock Polish up quite easily on Ferrothorn or Mega-Gengar. This is quite an underrated set in AG, but the basic strategy is to set up Stealth Rock and/or Spikes with something like Skarmory/Klefki/Ferrothorn, then Rock Polish up at the prime opportunity and proceed to sweep, since STAB Fire Blast in the sun OHKOs a lot of offensive threats. Dragon Pulse is used to hit Mega-Rayquaza, and Precipice Blades is meant to hit blobs like Blissey/Chansey/Pogre. Albeit, Precipice Blades won't be doing much to Zangooser's Primal-Kyogre set, which is why, my next Pokemon is going to work with Primal-Groudon in conjunction to eliminate Primal-Kyogre.

Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Perish Song
- Destiny Bond
- Protect
- Substitute

Primal-Kyogre is in general really difficult to lure and/or OHKO, so the simplest way of eliminating it is luring it and trapping it with Mega-Gengar. Mega-Gengar can simply use Substitute twice & proceed to suicide, however, in case some sort of 'mind games' go on, it also has the option to Perish Song. Eliminating Primal Kyogre opens the door for Primal-Groudon to sweep.

252+ SpA Primal Groudon Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Arceus in Harsh Sunshine: 282-333 (73.8 - 87.1%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

252+ SpA Primal Groudon Fire Blast vs. 184 HP / 0 SpD Xerneas in Harsh Sunshine: 336-396 (76.5 - 90.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

252+ SpA Primal Groudon Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Rayquaza: 226-268 (64.3 - 76.3%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Primal Groudon Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Darkrai in Harsh Sunshine: 360-424 (127.6 - 150.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Primal Groudon Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Yveltal in Harsh Sunshine: 331-391 (72.7 - 85.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Last week winner is Gunner Rohan
Core 1: 2

Week 4 meta is AAA with a team brought to you by rozes

Honchkrow @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpA
Naughty Nature
- Brave Bird
- Sucker Punch
- Dark Pulse
- Roost

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 24 SpA / 236 SpD

- Toxic

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Download
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Earth Power
- Protect

So I wanted to use perhaps the best Offensive Gale Wings abuser in the tier in Honchkrow, and decided to try out the Life Orb set. This is basically the standard set w/ Dark Pulse in order to hit common flying resists like Doublade harder than Sucker Punch would hit them. I wanted something to trap other flying resists like Skarmory / Heatran, so I went with Magnet Pull Heatran that traps and beats all non Flash Fire Variants of common Steel-types. It also provides rocks which turns a lot of 3HKO's to 2HKO's. Due to how quickly Honchkrow is worn down through Life Orb / Brave Bird recoil I wanted a stronger Defogger that could also be a back up flying check since Heatran isn't very bulky. Zapdos then fit really nicely as it defog's, checks common booster's with Unaware, and can pivot into Honchkrow with a slow Volt Switch. I added Manaphy as its a great sweeper that can set up on Steel / Rock Types that try to wall Honchkrow, and with Motor Drive it can get a quick speed boost from things like Zapdos trying to hit Honchkrow. Scarf Heracross is a great cleaner that also weakens steel / rock types, and can just clean up late game really easily. Then realized I wanted a bit more Hazard Control due to a Majority of the team being grounded, and also wanted something else to lure in Steel Types, so Mega Diancie was the perfect fit.

Have Fun! You have until next Friday.

Fridge lucario danks this yo
These were my first thought, but a lucario core is boring to post so...

Joey's Jawline (Tyrantrum) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Rock Polish

Manaphy lures in zapdos. If it's a lightningrod manaphy you can just stay on zapdos till you die of poison, if it's a u-turn manaphy, well you win. But any manaphy played decently should work.

Damage output ON Tyrantrum:
252+ Atk Life Orb Honchkrow Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyrantrum: 156-185 (51.1 - 60.6%)
24 SpA Zapdos Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Tyrantrum: 72-84 (23.6 - 27.5%)

Damage output FROM Tyrantrum:
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Honchkrow: 1123-1321 (329.3 - 387.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 316-372 (97.8 - 115.1%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Zapdos: 764-899 (199.4 - 234.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Manaphy: 333-394 (97.6 - 115.5%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Heracross: 419-495 (139.2 - 164.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 308-363 (127.8 - 150.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Diancie: 234-277 (97 - 114.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO (Before mega)

With sr it's a guaranteed ohko on everything. The only defogger is zapdos which is a free set up.
Eq is guaranteed kill on mega diancie and heatran and dragon claw ohkoes honch after lo recoil if you don't want to risk head smash miss.

That team seems really reliant on honch actually so a bunch of mon can destroy it if there's a ttar in the back like deoxys-s, chlorotran, volcarona...

Dnite also has a field day against this team. Aight I'll stop writing things now.

Not a promise, I'm just gonna call it.
I'd like to try and be more active in the forums, but this is my first time taking part in one of these kinds of threads, so don't be super critical of how I format :p

So this core is pretty solid against rozes' team for a few reasons. Mainly Heatran's ability to get very easy switch ins to Manaphy and threaten everything on the team. Opting for a faster scarf set rather than the Eruption set so it can outspeed mega Diancie. Charti Berry on Dragonite is a bit odd, and I admit I added it just to be a bit outside of the box, however at 1 DD, the only thing that outspeeds it is heracross, and SEdge is the revenge move of choice. Double-Edge allows an OHKO on zapdos, Outrage is to hit manaphy for more damage instead of getting the free switch to Heatran.

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Solar Beam - Always use Solar Beam on Desolate Land tran, simply because it gets free switch ins vs lots of water types, and killiing/forcing switches is helpful
- Fire Blast - Strong fire move du jour. Many to choose from, but I go for about as strong as it gets without using Eruption, forgoing more accurate moves like lava plume and flamethrower.
- Earth Power - tran killa
- Flash Cannon - diancie killa

Dragonite @ Charti Berry
Ability: Refrigerate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance - Standard Set up move
- Earthquake - More coverage for Heatran; and Diancie at +1 speed.
- Extreme Speed - Nothing more common than Espeed on Dnite, bops lots of mons, gale wings krow being the main target.
- Double-Edge/Outrage - If you want to stick with Edge to avoid getting poisoned, that is a good option, and similarly, outrage is a much better option for disposing of Manaphys.

Manectric @ Manectite

Timid Nature

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- You don't click this ever

So the team is reliant on Manaphy for blocking foes from just volting around you 24/7, having Teravolt pre-mega megaman makes that no longer have that option. Manectric can still be checked with most of the team, particularly sucker from krow and spdef zappy, but it forces in stuff (heatran, zapdos) to take hits that you then volt to ttar which can put a serious dent in the team and walls krow for you. Pair with any sort of cleaner for maximum effectiveness. Basically just volt on things and win

Laxpras

One small yeet for man, one giant yeet for mankind
This core revolves around a threat that doesn't have too much use in AAA, but I find to be great - Alakazam!

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Energy Ball

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

better clef (Sylveon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Baton Pass
- Moonblast

Alakazam outspeeds and OHKOs 5 mons on the team, and almost is a guaranteed 2hko against zapdos, so it isn't switching in. So any time this comes in, its likely getting a KO! The only thing that can happen is Honchrow switching into a psychic rather than focus blast, and being able to revenge kill with Gale wings. But since it lacks pursuit, Honchcrow is no issue thanks to Tyranitar! Once Tyranitar comes in on Honchcrow, the only thing that can really come in is heracross. Scarf also outspeeds and KOs Diancie, Zapdos, and Heatran, and 2hkos Manaphy. That leaves Heracross and Manaphy, which are both accounted for by Sylveon. Thanks to resisting both of Heracross's stabs, and unaware, Sylveon is switching in every time onto both of them, and can later use baton pass to pivot back to Alakazam, to further wreak havoc. Sylveon also acts as a wish passer, and can live a Honch brave bird and return OHKO. Sylveon also switches into Diancie, and avoids the 2hko.

Why zam just wins:
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Alakazam Energy Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Manaphy: 341-403 (100 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Alakazam Psychic vs. 248 HP / 236+ SpD Zapdos: 200-238 (52.2 - 62.1%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
