Name Etymology:
A historical bolt-throwing weapon, also named the Domina Gunilda, mounted to Windsor Castle in the 1300s to repel intruders. The name spread to other large projectile emplacements, becoming synonymous with heavy artillery and the usage thereof.

Attitude and Motive:
Confident and conceited. Gunhilde is happiest as the center of others' awe and trepidation.

As a consequence of her efforts to grow stronger, she has managed to gain the respect many of Lou's other battling Pokemon, which brings her contentment whether she's willing to admit it or not.

Background:
ch.i: Gunhilde's previous trainer was interested only in her utility, putting her to work in heavy labor. Following his arrest, Gunhilde languished in storage before making her escape the first time she was released from her ball. She lived within city limits for months as a feral Pokemon, wracking up quite the hefty bounty in property damage taking what she needed. Rather than hand Gunhilde over and claim the reward for her capture, Lou offered her a place in his team.

ch.ii: The days of trouble that followed that meeting are as ancient history to the pair, now. Between that day and this one lay uncounted trials, failures, and victories; each of them spurring just a modicrum of growth and reflection. Carried along this tide of time and her own great effort, Gunhilde has blossomed from a street-dwelling petty thief into a highly respected and competent battling Pokemon. And to her credit, she has allowed only some of her success to go to her head.

Underneath her usual breezy demeanor, Anpao has grown more world-wise as a result of her efforts. More often than ever, she offers moments of startling insight.

Background:
ch.i: Found wild, young, and abandoned near Lou's home, long before he began battling. Raising the feral and rambunctious Anpao was both challenging and expensive. With the passing years, she as grown into a trusting and reliable member of the team. Even now, however, Lou has an unconscious preference for cheap, easily-replaced furniture...

ch.ii: The intervening years have done much to mature Anpao into a more socialized and considerate Pokemon, and done little to curb her exuberance.

Boisterous and competitive. Janus seeks always innovate in his technique, and often pesters other Pokemon to annoyance trying to get them to train with him.

Background:
Twin of Juno and former contest competitor, bred and groomed for the role. Forced into pagentry as a Kirlia, Janus moved through the motions in a fog of apathy, until one contest devolved into a battle over a judging dispute. He found a spark in combat that he has chased ever after. He learned of a stone that could bring him closer to his goal and pilfered one as soon as he had the chance. Irreversably changed from the show-stopper his trainer had made him to be, Janus found himself discarded and adrift, until he crossed paths with Juno and Lou.

If there ever was someone to be jaded from extensive combat, it'd be Dimitri. As a Bisharp, he basically has all the tools he needs to be brutally effective in any battle... and he often can be, but he won't like it one bit. He'd once walked a bloody path, without much consideration for emotion, mercy, or decency. He was good at it. Too good, in fact.
One day, something clicked in him, and looking at his bloodied past, he came to despise brute force, and as a result, despise himself. That's it, that's what was lacking. With access to her Mega Stone once more, Selphine simply transforms from a cute walking danger to a blood knight with tremendous power. It is said the spirits of several Mega Mawiles of past times reside in her Mega Stone, overriding her original personality a little and giving her a cold and blunt demeanor. She's also very easily angered in this state, and with punish the tiniest slight with terrifying force. You want to tread very carefully while she's awakened. Fortunately, it doesn't last for long.
She doesn't seem to remember much of what happened once she reverts back to normal.

As a special holiday treat, all bets are off in this extravagant arena! And the bids... are on!

    Between the soaring, marble arches of this massive temple, immense graven images are enshrined of monstrous titans. The lifelike detail gives you pause — they seem as if they could somehow spring to life! At the base of each relief exists a basin, empty for now. You imagine these are meant to hold tribute.

    You look to each carving in turn, clutching your own offering tightly. Where should you place it? With which titan, or titans, do you feel most at peace? In the hall's massive center, a wide arena of fine sand is being painstakingly flattened. The ritual will soon commence...
    • Bidding
      When signing up, players will bid points on the following Pokemon:
      :groudon::kyogre::dialga::palkia::giratina::reshiram::zekrom::xerneas::yveltal::solgaleo::lunala::zacian::zamazenta::koraidon::miraidon:
    • Players may bid on any number of Pokemon.
    • Bids are submitted privately to the Host Moderator.
    • Messages edited after the bidding period elapses (Nov 29th 00:00 UTC, two days before matches begin) will win no bids. (Consider this to be part of the competition. The war begins long before the first post of your battle.)
    • Players can sign up with no bids even after bidding ends, if for some reason they wish to do so.
    • To bid on these Pokemon, players will stake various resources available to them. The point value of their bid is the total point value of the staked resources.
      • -1 to -5 Chills: 1 point each
      • -1 to -2 Recoveries: 2 points each
      • -1 to -7 Backpack Size: 3 points each
      • -1 to -3 Reserve slots: 5 points each
      • -1 to -4 Sub Limit: 8 points each
      • -1 to -3 Maximum Level: 12 points each
      • Switching Off: 30 points
    • Winning Bids
      When pairings are made, each Pokemon will be lent to the winning bidder for use in this match. The winning player will lose access to any resources that they staked on that Pokemon. The lent Pokemon will be Level 4, with no unlocked Techniques, Hidden Power Normal, and a neutral nature of the winning bidder's choice.
      • Bids will be checked in the order above, starting with :groudon:Groudon, and ending with :miraidon:Miraidon.
      • Players cannot stake more resources for their bids than they have in total. (You can't stake 5 Chills on one bid and then 5 more on another bid.)
      • If two or more players tie for winning bid, one bid winner will be selected at random, and the rest will lose that bid.
      • Resources staked for losing bids are returned to their bidders.
    • Strategies
      • A player might consider making heavy bids on several Pokemon, ensuring they win at least one of their bids.
      • A player might consider making no bids and battling with full access to their resources.
      • A player might consider making small, trivial bids on several Pokemon, and win them if they're unbid on.
      • A player might do any of the above, or something unexpected.
    • Results
      After moderators posts winning bids, including the resources spent by each winning bidder, players will send Pokemon and items to the Host Moderator within only their remaining Reserve Slots and Backpack Slots.
      • The lent Pokemon don't count towards a player's reserve limit, and their trait (that reduces Technique Control) is ignored.

Given that bids went up later than they otherwise might have, and that TMan's irl schedule means the same will happen for pairings, the deadline for sending in teams and backpacks for December's League circuit has been extended by 12 hours. It is now 12:00 UTC on December 1.
