We have the technology.
Hello, CAP!
I have been thrilled with how CAP25 has been going so far, with people working hard on both the competitive and flavor ends of the project. Meanwhile, CAPTT is wrapping up well, the PodCAP is gaining momentum, Smogon's Facebook and Twitter accounts are closely following our progress, and the Policy Review forum is full of important threads that will positively change CAP in the future. Things are running smoothly and in full force.
The purpose of this thread is to highlight an extremely vital part of the CAP Project: CAP Analyses. If you haven't noticed, the CAP website is currently undergoing maintenance; it is why we haven't updated it since Kerfluffle. To compensate, chaos and Senior Staff have agreed to host all CAP content on the Smogon Pokedex. In fact, I gave this a test run with uploading Plasmanta a few months ago, and it went smoothly. Since then, Sunfished and Quanyails have compiled all of the sprites, 3D models, and minisprites needed for the project.
First and foremost, we are looking for individuals to write and provide quality control to our competitive analyses. The best way to get involved is to ask snake_rattler what needs to be done, specifically by looking in this thread. If every CAP veteran committed to writing one analysis over the next two weeks, we'd easily achieve this goal. On top of that, we're also looking for people to provide amateur quality control checks, so post in any analysis thread that you have thoughts on! As of right now, Kerfluffle, Revenankh, Volkraken, and Aurumoth are all available for writing. I am sure snake_rattler would also appreciate a few being taken off his plate. Please consider taking on a single CAP to get these analyses uploaded on time.
Not a competitive type, but have some spare time? I could seriously use help getting all of the CAP's movepools cataloged and formatted to be uploaded on site. Below is a template to use with Plasmanta's information. If you would like to format any of these movepools, just write them down off of Pokemon Showdown and format them into this template. It would save me a lot of time to have this as well.
Our collective goal is to have CAP analyses onsite by September 30th. Again, I know this is an extremely busy time for all CAP friends, but the advantages of us having analyses on-site by the release of CAP25 would be monumental. We will have lots of new users flooding into CAP and the CAP ladder when we complete our projects, and having analyses onsite will help people continue to stay in the CAP community and playing on our ladder. We have the potential to grow significantly over September, so any help you can offer with the things posted in this thread would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks for reading!
