A long time ago, back when DPP was the current gen, and there was no team preview, the above question was often asked. You had to be prepared for anything in that last slot and use your deductive teambuilding skills to figure out just what your opponent was saving in the back. Still today, we can use these skills to better build our own teams. When building, there will be times when you have 5 perfect Pokemon. Mons that fit together so well that you just can't seem to pick a final Pokemon. Or sometimes you have a crippling weakness to a major threat and can't think of a mon that will cover it that fits the team. This project aims to let the community figure out what the best last Pokemon would be for a given team of 5.

Every round, I will post a team that is missing one Pokemon. You guys will then post suggestions for the final mon. Over the next few days, these nominations will be discussed amongst the users until voting begins. Once the vote starts, people will choose the last mon that they think fits the rest of the team best. At the end of the round, the Pokemon with the most votes will be the winner! The team will be archived, and the user who suggested the set will have his or her name alongside the team. Think of this as a lesson in team building!

RULES:
1. Standard UU forum rules apply. No flaming/antagonizing please. Also no one liners please.
2. No joke sets. Sets that are plain bad/unviable are not welcome.
3. Don't be a jerk and flame the team / sets that people post.
4. Reservations are okay, as long as you post the set within 24 hours of posting the reservation.
5. No weird gimmicks. If you think a low-rated Pokémon should add on the team, please give an in-depth explanation, but non-viable mons like Flareon are not allowed.
6. No slashing in your suggestions. You can't have 5 moves in a battle, why here?
7. Only one suggestion per round. Please only pick 1 Pokémon.
8. No changing the other members of the team, INCLUDING SETS. Only I can change the team and movesets.
9. Voting for your own nomination is NOT ALLOWED.
10. Please PM me on Smogon or PS! if you want to send in teams. I can't promise that your team will be featured but it's worth a shot, right?
11. Happy Posting!

Virizion is a solid 6th Pokemon to this team. the team as is, struggles a lot with bulky Water-types like Suicune. Lum Berry Virizion gives a safer switch-in to it as it can take 1 burn by Scald and proceed to SD up and put in a huge amount of offensive pressure.

HI all! Welcome to the first week of UU What's His Last. This weeks team was given to me by Kreme , or Truth on PS. Thanks for that!

This is a really solid Hyper Offense team with Lead Aerodactyl, LO Alakazam and a bunch of other offensive threats. CM + Psyshock Alakazam is a great way to deal with Florges and Blissey, which is very useful for Mixed Infernape to clean up or for Mega Sceptile to do some work.
Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Close Combat
- Grass Knot

Crawdaunt @ Focus Sash
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Crabhammer
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance

Aerodactyl @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 172 Atk / 84 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature

Alakazam @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball

Sceptile @ Sceptilite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Energy Ball
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast

You may now post your suggestion until Fridaynight! remember.. only 1 submission per person!

warzoid

I have several gelatinous friends

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Shadow Sneak
- Gyro Ball
- Pursuit
- Swords Dance

The team is very vulnerable to Mega Bee, Mega Aero, opposing Mega Sceptile, scarf Shao, scarf Mence, and even Crobat. Doublade checks all of them pretty well and also gives the team a spinblocker and an additional priority user. I expect a Pursuit variant to remove Bee/Aero for a Zam sweep.

This team loses to scarf Hydreigon so I assume its a fairy. This is obv HO so its prob not Florges, and he has a Grass and psychic mon so it may not be scarf garde or whims. My best bet is SD + SE Cobalion although that is still really weak to scarf Hydreigon. I could see it being scarf garde but the team is really weak to Mega Aero so idk.

Edit: I was told I needed to add the set so:

Cobalion @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge

As mentioned, the team is weak to scarfed Hydreigon, and is additionally weak to Salamence in general, along with other Dragon-type threats (Haxorus, etc.).

As such, I would suggest a scarfed Mamoswine.

Mamoswine @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
-Ice Shard
-Icicle Crash
-Earthquake
-Superpower

Mamoswine is able to OHKO all three of the above threats with Icicle Crash, as well as survive unboosted attacks from them.
Ice Shard is also a guaranteed OHKO on Salamence after Stealth Rocks, assuming Salamence is not running Intimidate.

-1 252 Atk Mamoswine Icicle Crash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Salamence: 448-532 (135.3 - 160.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Mamoswine Icicle Crash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hydreigon: 306-360 (94.1 - 110.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Mamoswine Icicle Crash vs. 16 HP / 0 Def Haxorus: 306-360 (103 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-1 252 Atk Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Salamence: 208-252 (62.8 - 76.1%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Salamence: 316-376 (95.4 - 113.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

This addition also provides a strong Ground-type STAB move in Earthquake, something the team is lacking. Being able to outspeed and OHKO threats like Entei and Alakazam is much appreciated,
and Mamoswine's base Atk is high enough to 2HKO many popular mons after Stealth Rock damage (Cobalion, non-Intimidate Krookodile, defensive Arcanine, Florges, the list goes on). Not to mention, hitting Steel-types super effectively is an asset.

Knock Off is included to remove Eviolites from the likes of Porygon2 and Gligar, and the item removal aspect is appreciated in general.

my bets on a pretty standard escavalier spread; the team lacks a "good" zam switch in (lol), a fairy, resist and mega aero and scarf hydreigon pretty much gets a kill (whenever its in against not crawdaunt, in aero's case). escav can pursuit zam, makes a decent offensive check to aero, and stops florges from clicking moonblast freely vs sceptile and infernape, and since crawdaunt lacks a LO and adamant nature, it doesnt have the raw power to weaken florges as well as it could. escav might be a little strange for a fast paced HO team but it definitely patches up the weaknesses of this team overall.

Escavalier @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 224 HP / 56 Atk / 228 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Megahorn
- Iron Head
- Pursuit

This team really needs a way to punish dragons for getting KO's and what better way to do that than slurpuff? Fighting types in general can mostly be at least significantly hindered by puff, which is key seeing as this team doesnt seem to deal with them well. Scarf shao specifically also looks like it would cause this team some trouble and puff can set up on that, punishing it for taking out any of your mons. It outspeeds scarf shao with jolly and 208 speed invest after unburden, so the rest went into making it a little easier to set up with some extra health. Puff is all about turning your weaknesses into a strength, baiting easy kills for some major threats like scarf hydregion, and turning the game around in your favor with the free switch.

Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
Happiness: 0
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 208 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Drain Punch
- Belly Drum
- Frustration
- Play Rough

So after Lightning sniped BD slurpuff from me and all the other easy picks got taken I had to get a bit creative. So I thought what is a mon that can revenge scarf hera, scarf mienshao, scarf hydrei, +1 mence, BD slurpuff and MPert in rain, all massive threats this team looks weak to. Well how about our old friend Scarf Crobat.

Crobat @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 12 Def / 244 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Defog

The speed investment outspeeds max speed jolly unburden slurpuff. Max attack adamant to hit as hard as possible. 12 defense to live +2 lucario espeed.
As for the moves Brave Bird is obvious. U-turn for momentum. Pursuit to trap opposing alakazam which this team struggles with and defog if hazards somehow became an issue or you are battling lead magic coat cress and screens go up.

Scarfbat strikes again.

This team as above mentioned is really, really weak to dragon type mons, but with Mega Sceptile it wouldn't make sense to have another ice weakness such as Whimsicott. Idk about having 2 fighting types, but since someone already submited Cobalion, I'm going with this:

Gardevoir @ Choice Specs
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Trick

Garde hits like a truck with specs, and with it's fairy typping it can switch on a draco and ohko with Moonblast. Also I honestly think that every HO profits from having a mon that can trick certain walls, I mean, with stall's being a thing and stuff. It perfoms a really nice wallbreaking core with Nape and Zam.

Very weak to Bee and Scarf Hydreigon so i guess this could work.

Diancie @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 100 HP / 156 Atk / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Earth Power

Beats Hydrei without flash cannon and can act as a soft/hard check for beedrill which just beats the rest of the team. Not the best option but i guess it works

Oh cool you guys are doing this in UU as well C:

All the good ones have been taken, so I'll just throw this in for shits and giggles:

Durant @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- X-Scissor
- Rock Slide
- Superpower

Punishes M-bee and fairy's decently well, hits really hard, and since it recently dropped it could have been used just for NewMon hype :]

Heh a bit fancy but I could def see an Agillity Empoleon working here. The team doesn't really have a reliable Fairy switch-in nor a Dragon switchin. Agillity Empoleon would punish Hydreigon going for Draco or Mence or other Dragons locking themselves into Outrage :o.

Empoleon @ Petaya Berry / Shuca Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot / Flash Cannon
- Agility

With Petaya Berry you're better off by hitting harder after an Agillity which HO would appreciate but Shuca Berry would see very valuabla, too to stop Salamence from a Dragon Dance Sweep :|. I think Flash Cannon could be considered over Grass Knot because you already have a reliable way of removing Waters with Mega Sceptile, and Flash Cannon would prevent Florges to kinda wall this entire team but ye.

I'm not gonna bother restating what everyone has said. The team needs and answer to scarf hydreigon, scarf shao, scarf mence, and mega bee. The best last Mon for this team is my boy granbull.

Granbull @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Heal Bell
- Earthquake
- Thunder Wave

It checks the fighting and Dragon types that threaten the team. Base 120 attack means it hits like a truck. Play rough and earthquake is great coverage. The last 2 moved give some utility that could be useful. Alakazam can clean late game but your scrubass got it twaved? Heal ball got your back playa. Scatters getting you down? Heave their dumbasses. Haha granbull gives me a free mega beedrill switchin? Surprise twave motherfucker. Is it the best last mon? IDK. But it aint a bad choice.

DISCALIMER: I posted this from my phone so their night be spelling mistakes.

Reserving offensive Porygon2
Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Recover

Checks Scarf Hydreigon, Scarf Mence, Mega Beedrill, Mega Sceptile, and Mega Aerodactyl, while not forfeiting momentum and being a nice wallbreaker in general. It doesn't help with Scarf Mienshao unfortunately, but all the fairies were taken.

I'm actually really interested to see what the team's creator actually chose for the 6th 'mon; I can't think of anything that deals with all of the major threats to this team. Fairies aren't really helping with Mega Beedrill (although innovamania's fairy of choice can lure it into taking a twave), Doublade loses to Hydra, Cobalion loses to Shao, Mamo can't switch in to prevent kills, etc. Interesting week for sure, and it's only the first! Props to bringing so much life to the subforum Shadestep :]
