NU Vikavolt

[OVERVIEW]

Vikavolt's amazing Bug / Electric typing lets it check prominent Fighting-, Grass-, Dark-, and Ground-types such as Hitmonlee, Rotom-C, Malamar, and Steelix. With such type combination, a monstrous base 145 Special Attack, and a strong coverage move in Energy Ball, Vikavolt is a very threatening wallbreaker in the tier. Its access to slow Volt Switch together with good natural bulk and Roost make it a good pivot that lasts through matches. However, even if it can take advantage of slow Volt Switches, its low Speed means it must always take a hit before attacking, making it less potent against a huge number of offensive threats, mainly wallbreakers like Emboar and Vanilluxe. In addition, Stealth Rock weakness heavily reduces Vikavolt's defensive potential, limits its use of Volt Switch, and lets more threats net a 2HKO if not an OHKO on Vikavolt.

Moves
========
Bug Buzz is Vikavolt's main STAB move for dishing out good damage even on neutral targets. Volt Switch is used so Vikavolt can pivot out and safely bring it's teammates in, and it also serves as Vikavolt's main Electric-type STAB move. Energy Ball rounds out Vikavolt's coverage well, hitting the likes of Steelix for better damage and punishingother Ground-types like Seismitoad and Rhydon very hard, if not netting a KO. Roost gives Vikavolt a reliable form of recovery, letting it replenish HP from Stealth Rock damage and repeatedly tanked hits. Using Hidden Power Ground over Energy Ball lets Vikavolt hit Togedemaru, Steelix, and Fire-types like Emboar hard while not giving up much coverage.

Set Details
========
252 HP and 44 Special Defense EVs let Vikavolt always tank two Leaf Storms from Sceptile after Stealth Rock damage, factoring in Vikavolt's Leftovers recovery. 76 Speed EVs are used to outrun Brave Incineroar and neutral base 50s such as Vileplume, Regirock, and Piloswine. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack to let Vikavolt hit harder.

Usage Tips
========
Take advantage of Vikavolt's resistances and immunity to grab momentum and safely bring in teammates. Even when it's acting as a tank, Vikavolt's raw power still means that it fires off powerful hits. Utilizing Vikavolt early-game to threaten bulkier cores, such as the Golbat and Slowbro ones, gives its teammates better opportunities to clean up later. Being slow makes Vikavolt vulnerable to all sorts of hits; only stay in on weak or resisted hits such as Seismitoad's Scald and Steelix's Heavy Slam to prevent it from being easily circumvented by Pokemon it's supposed to check after it has been crippled badly.

Team Options
========

Fire resistant Pokemon are needed to patch up Vikavolt's Fire-type weakness, most notably bulky Rock-, Dragon-, and Water-types. Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Rhydon, Lanturn, and Guzzlord work well for this role, as they also appreciate a Grass- and Fighting-type switchin. U-turn users and other Volt Switch users that synergize well with Vikavolt such as Incineroar, Xatu, and Lanturn are also good picks. Faster, frailer Pokemon that function better when brought in by slow Volt Switch to maximize their wallbreaking potential, like Medicham and Sneasel, also make good teammates. Pokemon that can cover Vikavolt's weaknesses or break through Pokemon that give it issues also make for good teammates; Houndoom can switch into Fire-type moves aimed at Vikavolt, whereas Virizion threatens Rock-types and Steelix.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt is Vikavolt's main Electric-type STAB move, at worst 2HKOing nearly everything that doesn't resist it. Bug Buzz complements Thunderbolt well, hitting Grass-, Dragon-, and Electric-types for good damage, such as Vileplume, Drampa, and opposing Vikavolt. Volt Switch is used to capitalize on Vikavolt's ability to force switches, letting it pivot around walls, preserve momentum, and provide safer switch-ins for teammates. Energy Ball rounds off Vikavolt's coverage well, warding off bulky Ground- and Rock-types, OHKOing Rhydon and Seismitoad, OHKOing Piloswine after Stealth Rock damage, and 2HKOing Steelix.

Set Details
========
252 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature and Choice Specs are used to hit as hard as possible. 76 Speed EVS are used to outrun Brave Incineroar and neutral-natured base 50s such as Vileplume, Regirock, and Piloswine. The 176 remaining EVs are put into HP to increase Vikavolt's bulk.

Usage Tips
========
Vikavolt's typing lets it threaten the more common Grass- and Water-type cores, such as Slowbro + Virizion, making Vikavolt ideal to tear cores apart early-game and allowing the late-game cleaners finish off the game in Vikavolt's aftermath. Switch in on predicted weak or resisted hits such as Steelix's Heavy Slam and Jellicent's Scald, or Ground-type moves and Choice-locked moves that do little to no harm to Vikavolt to start dishing out powerful hits. Albeit dealing high damage on even resisted hits, this set is still prediction reliant, as Vikavolt can lose momentum to Pokemon such as Emboar, which can take advantage of Choice-locked Bug Buzz and Ground-types which can take advantage of Electric-type STAB moves. Use your best prediction to weigh the situation so you can choose the best possible move, such as using Energy Ball and Bug Buzz early-game to wear down checks or beat Electric-immune Pokemon, or playing mind games with Volt Switch for gaining momentum.

Team Options
============
Switch-ins to faster Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Vikavolt out include the majority of Water- and Rock-types. Rhydon and Seismitoad fit particularly well, as they can also set Stealth Rocks to wear down checks more easily and break possible Sturdy or Focus Sashes for Vikavolt. A Fire-type would work great as well, appreciating Vikavolt's ability to eliminate bulky Water-types in return, although most of them share a Stealth Rock weakness with Vikavolt. Examples of these are Delphox, Houndoom, and Emboar. VoltTurn partners that pair well with Vikavolt such as Lanturn, Xatu, and Incineroar are good options for teammates. Faster Pokemon work well to cover Vikavolt's low Speed. Pokemon such as Sceptile and Sneasel appreciate the wallbreaking capabilities of Vikavolt and the slow Volt Switch. Pokemon that appreciate Grass- and Water-type cores punished, such as Double Dance Rhydon, work well with Vikavolt.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Discharge can be used on the tank set to spread paralysis and offers a decently powerful Electric-type STAB move, and it lets Vikavolt combat Flying-types like Bulk Up Braviary and Vivillon. Toxic can also be used on the tank set to cripple some switch-ins like Aromatisse and Cryogonal, although it's hard to fit into Vikavolt's set. Flash Cannon can be used on the offensive set to deal more damage to Fairy- and Ice-types like Mega Audino and Cryogonal, although Energy Ball or Hidden Power Ground usually offers better coverage. A spread of 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA using Choice Specs or Life Orb with a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IVs can be used if Vikavolt is to be used as a Trick Room attacker. A set with Agility with a spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Timid nature paired with Life Orb or Buginium Z can be used to turn Vikavolt into a fast late-game cleaner, although it is still outsped by every Choice Scarf user bar Emboar at +2.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock is very detrimental to Vikavolt, heavily impeding its capability to check what it needs to, leaving it 2HKOed or OHKOed by offensive threats.

**Fire-types**: Most relevant Fire-types like Houndoom, Delphox, and especially Emboar, which can take Bug Buzz well, easily outspeed and OHKO Vikavolt with their respective Fire-type STAB moves.

**Faster Attackers**: Due to Vikavolt's low speed, faster attackers can take advantage of it. However, some Pokemon such as Vanilluxe need it to have taken prior damage to beat it reliably, as only a few of them such as Emboar can OHKO Vikavolt right off the bat.

**Steel-types**: The few relevant Steel-types in the tier such as Togedemaru and Steelix give Vikavolt a hard time, with the former being a hard counter to non-Hidden Power Ground variants and the latter crippling it with Toxic, though it dislikes taking Bug Buzz or Energy Ball in return.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Vikavolt's amazing Bug / Electric Typing let it check prominent Fighting, Grass, Dark, and Ground-types.
  • Monstrous 145 base Special Attack lets it hit very hard, even without investment.
  • Access to slow Volt Switch and Roost make it a good pivot that lasts through matches.
  • Even if it can take advantage of slow Volt Switches, its low Speed lets it take hits almost everytime before it could do a move, making it get worn down easier.
  • Stealth Rock weakness heavily reduce Vikavolt's defensive and offensive potential.
  • Its Subpar SpD is easily taken advantage of Pokemon that blasts powerful, and even resisted Special hits.
Honestly I don't consider Vikavolt's Special Defense to be a significant drawback; most special attackers that are not Fire-type struggle to actually OHKO Vikavolt and fewer don't risk massive damage from Vika or at least a painful Volt Switch. If anything I'd put more emphasis or detail on its Speed and SR weakness, the former making it less potent against a greater number of offensive Pokemon, particularly wallbreakers (name them), in the meta, whereas Stealth Rock limits Volt Switching and subjects Vika to being 2HKOed, if not OHKOed by threats much more easily.

So first off I'd like to make some corrections on the main set:

name: Vic Viper I : Wallbreaker No need for fancy names, especially if the set only has one primary item; just rename to Choice Specs
move 1: Thunderbolt
move 2: Bug Buzz
move 3: Volt Switch Minor nitpick, but Volt Switch should be in slot 3; Energy Ball is more expendable in comparison. Shift the order of attacks in the Moves section accordingly.
move 4: Energy Ball
item: Choice Specs
ability: Levitate
nature: Modest
evs: 176 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 76 Spe 0 Speed offensive Vikavolt is not advised; you'd want at least enough Speed to outrun Brave Incineroar and other threats such as Vileplume and Piloswine, which lets Vika 1v1 them much easier or avoid painful retaliation.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Thunderbolt is Vikavolt's main Electric-type STAB move, letting it 2HKO or OHKO anything that doesn't resist.
  • Bug Buzz complements Thunderbolt well, hitting Ground, Grass, Dragon, and Electric types for good damage.
  • Volt Switch is used to capitalize Vikavolt's stellar Special Attack even more, letting it pivot around walls and preserve momentum, providing a free switch to its teammates.
  • Energy Ball rounds the coverage well together with its STAB moves, warding off the bulky Ground and Rock-types and KOes.
- Quite redundant, just mention that it can at worst 2HKO nearly every Pokemon that doesn't resist it.
- Can you name these? You also mentioned Ground-types as a target for Energy Ball so you'd better specify what Ground-types Bug Buzz hits that Energy Ball does (if you can't, then just omit that mention). Oh, and mention Bug Buzz being able to pierce Substitutes.
- Volt Switch is more to capitalize on Vikavolt's low Speed to give teammates safer switch-ins; if you wanted power there's Thunderbolt.
- In addition to naming examples, you can specify what Energy Ball does for Vikavolt, such as OHKOing Seismitoad and bulky Rhydon, 2HKOing Steelix, and can OHKO Piloswine after Stealth Rock damage.

Set Details
========
  • 252 Special Attack with Modest nature is used to hit as hard as possible, coupled with Choice Specs to bolster Vikavolt's Special Attack and maximize damage output.
  • 248 HP investment minimizes Stealth Rock damage and increases Vikavolt's bulk, letting it have more opportunities to blast of powerful hits.
- Of course, implement the new spread here, with 76 Speed EVs outrunning Brave Incineroar and anything slower such as the uninvested base 50s (such as?). There would be 180 EV left, but specify that only 176 EVs go into HP to allow Vikavolt to switch into Stealth Rock 4 times at most as opposed to 3.

Usage Tips
========
  • Vikavolt works best early game to punch holes on the opposing team, opening up for the team's late game cleaners.
  • Switch in on predicted weaker and or resisted hits such as Steelix's Heavy Slam and Jellicent's Scald, or Ground-type moves and choice locked moves which do little to no harm on Vikavolt to start dishing powerful hits.
  • Other Volt Switch or U-Turn users can be used to pivot in and safely deliver Vikavolt on the field.
  • Removing Stealth Rock or preventing it from getting up maximizes Vikavolt's effectiveness.
- Emphasize how Vikavolt's dual STAB typing allows it to threaten bulky Water and Grass cores (as well as naming members of that core).

Team Options
======== <- You forgot this btw
  • Switchins to faster Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Vikavolt out include the majority of Water and Rock-types. Rhydon and Seismitoad fit particularly well, as they could also set Stealth Rocks to wear checks easier and break possible Sturdy or sashes for Vikavolt.
  • A Fire-type would work great as well albeit most of them shares Stealth Rock weakness. Examples of these are Pyroar, Typhlosiiion, and Emboar which appreciates bulky Water-types eliminated.
  • Parting Shot support from the likes of Persian-Alola and Silvally formes is appreciated and gives Vikavolt a free switch and the Attack or Special Attack drop would be also benificial for Vikavolt to tank more hits and blast on its own.
  • Hazard removal is very important for Vikavolt to blast more powerful hits consistently. Rapid Spin users such as Komala and Cryogonal, and Defog users such as Golbat provide a good form of hazard control.
  • Faster Pokemon works well to patch up Vikavolt's low speed. Pokemon such as Sceptile and Sneasel appreciate the wallbreaking capabilities of Vikavolt and the slow Volt Switch.
- Surely you can name more relevant Fire-types, such as Delphox and Houndoom.
- You brought up VoltTurn support in Usage Tips but provided no examples here; instead you listed Parting Shot users of which Persian-Alola is the only remotely relevant one. Definitely provide more examples, particularly U-turn users, such as Choice Scarf Braviary, Xatu, Meloetta, Whimsicott, even Incineroar.
- Komala is bleh; Hitmontop would be a more suitable alternative, especially since it handles the likes of Steelix and Rhydon. Magic Bounce Xatu is a notable mention here as well.
- Emphasize Pokemon who appreciate Vikavolt's ability to prey on bulky Water + Grass cores. Barbaracle is a standout teammate as it can threaten to just sweep if those mons are removed, but if you can name anymore, feel free to suggest them.

[SET]
Name: Vic Viper II: Tank Again, no need for fanciness.
Move 1: Bug Buzz
Move 2: Volt Switch
Move 3: Energy Ball
Move 4: Roost
Item: Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Bold
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

Set Details
========

  • 248 HP and 252 Defense with Bold nature lets Vikavolt to tank as much Physical hits, especially from Dark and Fighting-types. 248 HP is mainly to minimize Stealth Rock damage.
  • Leftovers is used for passive recovery and adds up on Vikavolt's longevity. It also makes Vikavolt always avoid a 2HKO on Medicham's Zen Headbutt and Tauros's Rock Climb from full.
  • Rocky Helmet is an alternative to punish attackers making contact on Vikavolt, taking advantage of its good Defense stat.
- Specify these Pokemon.
- Tauros runs Body Slam now.

Usage Tips
========
  • Take advantage of Vikavolt's resistances and immunity to grab momentum and safely bring in teammates. Most Dark-types that are physical bar Incineroar also have a hard time breaking past Vikavolt and can be easily taken advantage off.
  • Vikavolt's Defensive capabilities work to the fullest when Stealth Rock isn't up, so removing it or preventing it from getting up is a necessity.
  • Given that Vikavolt's Special Defense is low, only stay in in weaker special hits like Seismitoad's Scald.
  • Vikavolt works well with Balance and Bulky Offense archetypes that make good use of a slow pivot like Vikavolt.
- Honestly I would only consider Vikavolt as a check to Dark-types such as Sneasel and Drapion, since CB Sneasel can 3HKO with Icicle Crash, making it somewhat risky to switch in due to the possibility of flinching, whereas Drapion can 2HKO Vika with +2 Knock Off followed by Poison Jab. I'd much rather emphasize on Vikavolt's ability to stop Fighting-types such as Hitmonlee, Scrafty, and non-Stone Edge Virizion.
- Vikavolt actually has just about enough special bulk to take resisted special hits well, such as Choice Specs Leaf Storm from Sceptile and Rotom-C as well as Thunderbolt from Choice Specs Rotom-C. In fact, you should highlight this quality.

Team Options
========
  • Faster frailer Pokemon that functions better when escorted by slow Volt Switch also make good teammates like Medicham and Sneasel to maximize their wallbreaking potential.
- Pokemon that can cover for Vikavolt's weaknesses or break through Pokemon that give it issues also make for good teammates; Houndoom can switch into Fire-types moves aimed at Vikavolt, whereas Virizion threatens Rock-types and Steelix.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Toxic can be used to cripple some switch-ins like Aromatisse and Cryogonal, although it hardly fits into Vikavolt's movepool.
  • Flash Cannon can be used in the offensive set to deal more damage to other Fairy and Ice-types like Aromatisse and Cryogonal, although Energy Ball usually offers better coverage as it hits more targets.
  • A spread of 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA with a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IVs can be used if Vikavolt is desired to be used as a Trick Room attacker.
  • Agility can be used to turn Vikavolt into a fast late game cleaner, although it is still outspeed by every Choice Scarf users bar Emboar.
- Discharge can be mentioned on the Tank set as it can spread paralysis as well as offer Electric-type damage without forcing Vikavolt out, letting it better combat Flying-types with Substitute such as Vivillon and Braviary. However, it doesn't have as much utility as Vikavolt's other moves, making it more expendable.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock is very detrimental to Vikavolt, heavily impaling its capability to check what it needs to.

**Status**: Status conditions like Poison and Burn makes Vikavolt get worn down easier and forces it to Roost more often, limiting its defensive capabilities.

**Powerful Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers like Machamp and Meloetta easily prey on Vikavolt's low speed and heavily damages or outright OHKOes Vikavolt.

**Special Attackers**: Due to its poor special bulk, Vikavolt is easily beaten by most special attackers

**Fire-types**: Most relevant Fire-types like Houndoom, Delphox, and Typhlosion can easily OHKO Vikavolt with their respective Fire-type STAB moves.
- It's 'impeding' btw, assuming that's what you meant. Also specify how Stealth Rock hinders Vikavolt; refer to my points in the Overview.
- Status kind of applies to 90% of Pokemon in the meta in that context, but I'd say Vika is less crippled than most since it doesn't mind burn and its tendency to Volt Switch limits Toxic damage. Remove this point.

- Both Machamp and Meloetta fail to OHKO Vikavolt and get OHKOed by Specs Thunderbolt / Bug Buzz; for that matter, very few special attackers in general, not even Ghostium Z Mismagius, successfully beat Specs Vikavolt 1v1. What I can suggest is removing both of the **Powerful Wallbreakers** and **Special Attackers** section is either:
a) moving these mentions to the **Stealth Rock** section and mention what kind of attackers (that are not Fire-type; they already have their own section) can KO Vikavolt after SR damage.
b) list a new section after **Fire-types** called **Faster Attackers**, and emphasize how they can only reliably beat Vikavolt if it was weakened prior, as very few of them can OHKO Vikavolt off the bat and either end up getting KOed back or Volt Switched on.

- Replace Typhlosion with Emboar; you may even point out Emboar's ability to switch into Bug Buzz, something the other Fire-types can't do well.

Okay I know we've asked you to change the sets around several times, but this should be how the Roost set should look:

Vikavolt @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 136 SpA / 44 SpD / 76 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball
- Roost

The HP and Special Defense EVs let it always live two Choice Specs-boosted Leaf Storms from Rotom-C/Sceptile after Stealth Rock plus one turn of leftovers taken into account, making it a very reliable answer to both. The Speed lets you go past Brave Incineroar and the rest is dumped into Special Attack and Modest nature to give its attacks some extra power. Make this the first set and place Choice Specs below it.

Skelos apply the above and I'll give this a check after.

  • Vikavolt's amazing Bug / Electric Typing let it check prominent Fighting, Grass, Dark, and Ground-types. try and list some of the most common mons it checks like Sceptile, Rotom, Steelix, etc
  • Monstrous 145 base Special Attack lets it hit very hard, even without investment. rephrase this point to be more about Vikavolt's overwhelming offensive presence and remove the mention of no investment since all sets have some spa investment. Something more along the lines of "a monstrous 145 base spa with great coverage between its dual stabs and energy ball" or something like that. anyone can see it has a high attack stat, so focus on stuff that is more specific to the mon itself.
  • Access to slow Volt Switch good natural bulk and Roost make it a good pivot that lasts through matches.

you don't need to slash it, but I think hp ground deserves a mention in moves. it hits steelix hard, snags its most common counter togedemaru, and you don't really lose out on all that much coverage.

Set Details

  • 248 252 HP and 44 Special Defense lets Vikavolt always tank two Leaf Storms after Stealth Rock damage, factoring Leftovers recovery. 248 252 HP is mainly to minimize Stealth Rock damage.

  • Vikavolt works well with Balance and Bulky Offense archetypes that make good use of a slow pivot like Vikavolt. this is more of a mention that belongs in team options
try and round out this section some more. ask yourself questions like "are there any tricky situations a user should be aware of with vikavolt?" "what types of teams does vikavolt do really well against and how should it be played in those matchups?" "when should you click certain attacks in what situation?" really try and draw from your experience using vikavolt, thinking about when it has struggled and when it has succeeded, instead of just thinking about the mon itself.

Team Options
========

  • Fire resists are needed to patch up Vikavolt's Fire-type weakness, especially bulky Rock, Dragon and Water-types. Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Rhydon, Guzzlord and Lanturn work well for this role, as they also appreciate Vikavolt's defensive utility. maybe be a little more specific than "defensive utility" with how vikavolt helps these mons. seismitoad/lanturn/rhydon it provides a valuable grass resist and rhydon/guzzlord it provides a fighting resist
  • Lanturn deserves a special mention, as it also forms a VoltTurn core from Vikavolt aside from having amazing defensive synergy with it. Other users of U-Turn or Parting shot pairs well with Vikavolt such as Incineroa, Xatu, and Persian-Alola.
  • Hazard removal is very important for Vikavolt to blast more powerful hits consistently. Rapid Spin users such as Hitmontop and Cryogonal, and Defog users such as Golbat provide a good form of hazard control. Magic Bounce support from Xatu is also appreciated by Vikavolt.

second, the last two points are true of every pokemon. try and be more specific to vikavolt here. in the previous set, it was ok to mention u-turn/volt switch because you can form effective volt turn cores so you can gear that point toward vikavolt again if you'd like. removing hazards is good for every pokemon, but the reason it's especially good for vikavolt is because of its weakness to rocks and its low speed, making each switch in to rocks easier to rk vikavolt. make sure you emphasize that in that point.

Team Options
============
Examples of these are Delphox, Houndoom, and Emboar which appreciates bulky Water-types eliminated. nit-pick, but specify that vikavolt is the one removing the bulky waters
  • VoltTurn and Parting Shot support from the likes of Persian-Alola, Incineroar, Xatu, and Whimsicott is appreciated and gives Vikavolt a free switch and or the Attack or Special Attack drop which would be also benificial for Vikavolt to tank more hits and blast more on its own.
  • Hazard removal is very important for Vikavolt to blast more powerful hits consistently. Rapid Spin users such as Hitmontop and Cryogonal, and Defog users such as Golbat provide a good form of hazard control. Magic Bounce support from Xatu is also appreciated by Vikavolt. talked about how to improve on this above
  • Faster Pokemon works well to patch up Vikavolt's low speed. Pokemon such as Sceptile and Sneasel appreciate the wallbreaking capabilities of Vikavolt and the slow Volt Switch.
  • Pokemon that appreciate Grass-Water type cores punished such as Barbaracle and Double Dance Rhydon work well with Vikavolt.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock is very detrimental to Vikavolt, heavily impeding its capability to check what it needs to, leaving it 2HKOed if not OHKOed by offensive threats.

**Fire-types**: Most relevant Fire-types like Houndoom, Delphox, and especially Emboar who can take Bug Buzz well, easily outspeed and OHKO Vikavolt with their respective Fire-type STAB moves.

**Faster Attackers**: Due to Vikavolt's low speed, faster attackers take advantage of Vikavolt, although they need it to have prior damage to beat it reliably, as only few of them OHKO Vikavolt right of the bat and either end up getting KOed back or Volt Switched in. make some mentions of just general fast pokemon that pressure vika. Delphox, Rock Z Viriz, etc etc

make a stronger mention of steel-types here. togedemaru is only relevant because of vikavolt and, while steelix isn't exactly a counter, toxic heavily weakens vikavolt after the exchange
qc 2/3 after this. I'll take a look at the sections I told you to round out after you've done so as well

This is the OO that was in Punch's check. My only criticism is to include what item, ev's, and moves the agility set would run.

Yo, imo you should definitely slash Buginium-z on the Roost set, as the knock off resistance and general nuke it provides is hugely useful, and the set has been incredibly successful in tour play.

Remove mention of Barbaracle in Team Options. I don't know if I'd give a special mention to Lanturn there, it's a really bad pokemon and I don't see why it would deserve a specific mention here -- if you want to mention it, don't make it look better than it actually is.

[OVERVIEW]

Vikavolt's amazing Bug / Electric Typing let typing lets it check prominent Fighting-, Grass-, Dark-, (AH) and Ground-types such as Rotom-Mow, Rotom-C, Steelix, Hitmonlee, and Malamar. With this STAB combination, a monstrous base 145 base Special Attack, (AC) blessed with such dual STAB combination and a coverage move in Energy Ball, Vikavolt is a very threatening wallbreaker in the tier. Its access to a slow Volt Switch together with a good natural bulk and Roost make it a good pivot that lasts through matches. However, even if it can take advantage of slow Volt Switches, its low Speed lets it take hits almost every(space)time before it could do can a move, making it less potent against a huge number of offensive threats, namely (mainly?) wallbreakers like Emboar and Vanilluxe. In addition, a Stealth Rock weakness heavily reduce reduces Vikavolt's defensive potential, and, limiting limits its use of Volt Switch, (AC) and lets more threats net a 2HKO (RC) if not an OHKO on Vikavolt it.

Bug Buzz is Vikavolt's main go-to STAB move for dishing out good damage even on even neutral targets. Volt Switch is used to pivot out and safely deliver its bring Vikavolt's teammates in (RC) and serves as Vikavolt's main its Electric-type STAB move. Energy Ball rounds up out Vikavolt's coverage well, hitting the likes of Steelix for better damage (RC) and punishes punishing other Ground-types like Seismitoad and Rhydon very hard, if not netting a KO. Roost gives Vikavolt a reliable form of recovery, letting it replenish HP from Stealth Rock damage and repeatedly tanked hits. Using Hidden Power Ground over Energy Ball lets Vikavolt hit Togedemaru hard while not without giving up much coverage (RC) and still lets it hit the likes of Steelix and Fire-types such as Emboar for good damage.

Set Details

252 HP and 44 Special Defense investment lets EVs let Vikavolt always tank two Leaf Storms (from?) after Stealth Rock damage, factoring in Leftovers recovery. 76 Speed is used to outrun Brave Incineroar and neutral base 50s such as Vileplume, Regirock, and Piloswine. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack to let Vikavolt hit harder.

Usage Tips
========
Take advantage of Vikavolt's resistances and immunity to grab momentum and safely bring in teammates. Even when it's acting as a tank, Vikavolt's raw power still makes lets it fire off powerful hits. Utilizing Vikavolt early on the game to threaten bulkier cores such as the Golbat and Slowbro ones Golbat + Slowbro gives its teammates better opportunities to clean up later. Being slow makes Vikavolt vulnerable to all sorts of hits; (SC) only stay in on relatively weaker and or resisted hits such as Seismitoad's Scald and Steelix's Heavy Slam to prevent it from being easily circumvented by Pokemon it's supposed to check when it has been crippled badly.

Team Options

Pokemon that resist Fire resists are needed to patch up Vikavolt's Fire-type weakness, especially most notably bulky Rock-, Dragon-, (AH, AC) and Water-types. Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Rhydon, Lanturn, Guzzlord work well for this role, as they also appreciate the Vikavolt's Grass and or Fighting type resistance of Vikavolt resistances. U-turn users and other Volt Switch users that also provide a good synergy synergize well with(space)Vikavolt such as Incineroar, Xatu, and Lanturn fills in this role well are also good picks. Thunderbolt is Vikavolt's main Electric-type STAB move, at worst 2HKOing nearly everything that doesn't resist it. Bug Buzz complements Thunderbolt well, hitting Grass-, Dragon-, and Electric-types (AH) for good damage, such as Vileplume, Drampa, and other opposing Vikavolt. Volt Switch is used to capitalize on Vikavolt's ability to force switches, letting it pivot around walls, (AC) and preserve momentum, and providing safer switch-ins for bring in teammates more safely. Energy Ball rounds out Vikavolt's the coverage well together with its STAB moves, warding to ward off the bulky Ground- (RH) and Rock-types, OHKOing the likes of Rhydon and Seismitoad, OHKOing Piloswine after Stealth Rock damage, and 2HKOing Steelix.

252 Special Attack EVs with a Modest nature and Choice Specs is are used to hit as hard as possible, coupled with Choice Specs to bolster Vikavolt's Special Attack and maximize damage output. 76 Speed is used to outrun Brave Incineroar and neutral-natured base 50s such as Vileplume, Regirock, and Piloswine. The 176 remaining EVs are put into HP to increase Vikavolt's bulk, and also letting it take up switch into Stealth Rock 4 times instead of 3. (though 0 investment does this too so would rather see it removed outright)

Usage Tips
========
Vikavolt's typing let it threaten the more common Grass- (AH) and Water-type (AH) cores, such as Slowbro and Virizion cores Slowbro + Virizion, making it ideal to tear cores apart earlier on in the game, letting the late-game (AH) cleaners finish off the game in Vikavolt's aftermath. Switch in on predicted weaker and or resisted hits such as Steelix's Heavy Slam and Jellicent's Scald, or Ground-type moves and Choice-locked (AH) moves which that do little to no harm on Vikavolt to start dishing out powerful hits. Albeit dealing high damage on even resisted hits, this set is still prediction reliant, (AC) which makes as Vikavolt can lose momentum to Pokemon such as Emboar and Ground-types and that can take advantage of Choice-locked Bug Buzz and Electric-type STAB moves respectively, causing momentum loss. Use your best prediction and weigh the situation on choosing the best possible move, such as using Energy Ball and Bug Buzz early-game (AH) to wear down checks and or beat Electric-type immunities, Electric-immune Pokemon or risking of 50-50s on using playing mind games with Volt Switch for gaining momentum.

Team Options

Examples of these are Delphox, Houndoom, and Emboar which appreciates bulky Water-types eliminated by Vikavolt. Discharge can be used in the tank set to spread paralysis and offers as a decently powerful Electric-type STAB move that can spread paralysis, and it lets Vikavolt combat Flying-types like Bulk Up Braviary and Vivillon. Toxic can also be used in on the tank set to cripple some switch-ins like Aromatisse and Cryogonal, although it's hardly fits to into Vikavolt's movepool set. (I think?) Flash Cannon can be used in the offensive set to deal more damage to other Fairy- (AH) and Ice-types like Mega Audino-Mega and Cryogonal, although Energy Ball or Hidden Power Ground usually offers better coverage as it hits more targets. A spread of 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA (max HP as far as I can tell, max HP can still switch into SR 4 times) using Choice Specs or Life Orb with a Quiet nature and 0 Speed IVs can be used if Vikavolt is desired to be used as a Trick Room attacker. A set with Agility with a spread of 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe with a Timid nature paired with and Life Orb or Buginium Z (RH) can be used to turn Vikavolt into a fast late game cleaner, although it is still outsped by every Choice Scarf users bar Emboar.
