Greetings and welcome to the USM Random Battles Role Compendium. This is intended to be a resource/guide for players to determine what identities or roles the randomly generated Pokemon give for a team. This is currently a WIP, and you can also join us at Random Battles for live discussion and other related activities for the various randomized formats!

Reminders
1) Due to the nature of the format, these Pokemon may not always have the particular move of choice, except for Pokemon like Sigilyph that only have one exclusive loadout so remember to keep that in mind.
2) If you feel as if we've forgotten to place something, or want to add a category of your own, feel free to suggest and discuss it in the thread! While not required, it would help us improve this faster if you utilized the Image function for sprites while using this as the source: http://www.smogon.com/dex/media/sprites/xyicons
3) The Pokemon are listed in alphabetical order.

I'd like to add the role of Baton Pass users, because a lot of setup sweepers and Substitute with Baton Pass users can prove to be extremely annoying to the opponent and useful to you.

A list of Baton Pass Pokémon I have seen on the gen 7 ladder (after 1500 battles):

All Eeveelutions, except for Flareon and maybe Glaceon. Mew. Togetic. Togekiss. Girafarig. Celebi. Masquerain. Ninjask. Plusle & Minun. Gorebyss & Huntail. Scolipede. Pyukumuku. Venomoth. Scizor (and Mega). Blaziken (and Mega). Volbeat & Illumise. Floatzel. Musharna. Leavanny. Sawsbuck. Emolga. Mienshao. Durant. And finally Ribombee

Adding in set-up sweepers for Shell Smash and Quiver Dance

Shell Smash: Cloyster, Omastar, Magcargo, Torkoal, Gorebyss, Huntail, Crustle, Carracosta, Minior, Barbaracle

Quiver Dance: Butterfree, Venomoth, Bellossom, Beautifly, Dustox, Masquerain, Mothim, Lilligant, Volcarona, Vivillon, Ribombee.

Will add Swords Dance Pokémon and maybe Calm Mind Pokémon later today if no one else beats me to it.

Kinda wish there was a thing for Weakness Policy Pokémon, because they definitely do exist. Pokémon like Aegislash, Carracosta, Metagross, and Celesteela definitely carry these sets, although sometimes they are rare.

Here is the stuff for Nasty Plot

Nasty Plot: Azelf, Beheeyem, Celebi, Chatot, Cofagrigus, Darkrai, Girafarig, Hoopa, Houndoom, Infernape, Jynx, Liepard, Mew, Minun, Mismagius, Mr. Mime, Ninetales, Oranguru, Persian-Alola, Plusle, Porygon-Z, Raichu, Salazzle, Simipour, Simisage, Simisear, Slowking, Thundurus, Thundurus-Therian, Togekiss, Zoroark

I think it misses out at least Lucario, Lucario - Mega, Raichu Alola, Ninetales Alola, Hoppa Unbound

All of those Pokemon you just listed can get Nasty Plot in random battles. Looked through the list of random battle moves and can confirm all of em do.

You forgot Wormadam-Grass in Quiver Dance.
And yes it does exist.

This is an incredible thread and honestly brings me to joy.

I agree with all the above suggestions, there's a LOT of things in Randbats that I feel should be delved into.

I think it'd be fair to have a

SET UP

Cat, within the cat we'd have moves lik Quiver Dance, Nasty Plot, Swords Dance, (Contrary) ect. I feel like it'd be a very helpful cat since some mons can fit both rolls easily and tend to give newer players trouble.

I would suggest adding a section for

Game Altering Abilities : Weather / Terrain / Absorb Abilities (drain/sap/volt/ect) /

I'm sure we can go through and sort out which abilities are considered Game Altering.

Off the top of my head for Z-Move users, there's:

Supersonic Skystrike: SD Talonflame, DD Salamence. I'm p sure Landorus-T can also have this on occasion (might have Continental Crush too, not sure)

Bloom Doom: SD Carnivine, QD Bellossom

Devastating Drake: Zygarde (usually no DD and with Power Construct)

Z-Conversion: Porygon-Z (I think Electric?)

setup sweeper categories have been added; for now we're mainly focusing on moves, but i'll defintely take weakness policy into consideration

agility and autotomize are empty, im filling in these spots with the mons i know have them, so i might be missing a couple others
Agility:

Autotomize:

also i think mons that manually set up moves like trick room and rain dance should be added, probably under setup moves, as most of the mons that manually set these moves try to sweep, ill also include sunny day as theres some mons that use it just cause im putting rain dance.

Rain Dance:

Sunny Day:

Trick Room:

im not sure if i wanna put phione or swanna under rain dance as they only use it to abuse hydration and im also not sure if i should put mons with weather abilities for rain dance and sunny day either. i also wanna see how far the recovery portion of this has been done but anyways this should help.
