[OVERVIEW]

Umbreon's high bulk and decent defensive typing allow it to check prominent threats in the metagame, such as Mega Sharpedo, Hydreigon, and Latias. Furthermore, access to Wish and Heal Bell makes Umbreon a great cleric. Toxic and Foul Play allow Umbreon to deter physical setup sweepers such as Scizor and Haxorus from setting up on it. However, Umbreon is easily exploitable by Toxic-immune Pokemon with Justified, such as Cobalion and Lucario. Furthermore, Taunt users, such as Crobat and Krookodile, completely shut Umbreon down by preventing it from healing itself or its teammates. Additionally, Umbreon's reliance on Wish + Protect to keep itself healthy can cause the loss of momentum, while reliance on Moonlight to keep itself healthy can be taken advantage of due to Moonlight's relatively low PP. Umbreon also suffers from the presence of pivots, such as Scizor, Mega Beedrill, and Infernape, that can threaten it out and gain momentum with U-turn. Umbreon also faces competition from Blissey as a special wall, with Blissey having higher HP, a defensive typing that grants it fewer weaknesses, and access to Soft-Boiled, Stealth Rock, and Natural Cure, and as a cleric from Sylveon, which has a better defensive typing and better offensive presence.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Foul Play is Umbreon's most reliable STAB move; it allows Umbreon to significantly damage physical attackers such as Scizor, Mamoswine, and Mega Beedrill. Heal Bell heals Umbreon's teammates and itself from status ailments, which also makes Umbreon a more reliable special wall. Toxic not only gives Umbreon an easier time beating setup sweepers, such as Latias, but also lets it badly poison common switch-ins, such as Terrakion and Kommo-o, and slowly wear them down. Wish allows Umbreon to recover its own health as well as heal its teammates up. Protect combines with Wish to give Umbreon an easier time healing itself up and also allows Umbreon to scout common Choice item users, such as Hydreigon and Infernape, and gain more recovery from Leftovers. Alternatively, Moonlight gives Umbreon a more reliable form of self-recovery; in combination with Wish, Umbreon can use Moonlight on a turn it would otherwise use Protect on and gain more health back. However, Moonlight's low PP means Umbreon can be stalled out rather easily.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Special Defense, combined with a Calm nature, allows Umbreon to take on special attackers such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile as easily as possible. 4 Speed EVs allow Umbreon to outpace uninvested Scizor and hit it with a Foul Play before it gets to hit Umbreon with a super effective move. Synchronize allows Umbreon to punish certain Toxic users such as Mantine and Swampert that attempt to badly poison it. Leftovers provides passive recovery, which helps Umbreon retain longevity.

Usage Tips
========

Switch in Umbreon on special attackers such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile and beat them via attacking with Foul Play when ever Umbreon is at a comfortable amount of HP; this is achieved by continuously using Wish in tandem with Protect or Moonlight. Hence, Umbreon needs to stay as healthy as possible throughout the match. Generally, you should use Wish either when Umbreon is low on HP or when a teammate should be healed up. Use Protect to scout for potential mixed special attackers with Fighting coverage, such as Superpower Hydreigon and Nidoking, and Choice-locked Pokemon like Latias and Gengar. Be wary of using Protect against certain potentially Choice-locked Pokemon that may utilize setup moves, such as Scizor and Terrakion. In addition, be wary of switching in Umbreon on potential Trick users such as Latias and Gengar. Umbreon could also be switched in on certain physical attackers, such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sharpedo. Avoid spamming Foul Play against teams with Justified users such as Cobalion, Terrakion, and Lucario, as they can easily take advantage of it to boost their Attack. Despite its access to Toxic and Foul Play, Umbreon heavily struggles to beat certain setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Terrakion that beat it by virtue of their typings. Hence, it is wise to not stay in on them, as they use Umbreon as setup fodder. Do not stay in on Taunt users, such as Krookodile and Jellicent, because they can reliably shut down and beat Umbreon. Use Toxic to beat special attackers such as Hydreigon and Latias and on predicted Fighting-type switch-ins like Infernape and Terrakion. Use Heal Bell when either Umbreon or its teammates are afflicted with a status ailment while keeping in mind Heal Bell's low PP.

Team Options
========

Umbreon fits well on balance and stall. Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Sylveon, and Flying-types like Moltres and Crobat can handle Fighting-types such as Infernape and Kommo-o. The aforementioned Fairy-types can also utilize Heal Bell so Umbreon can freely run Toxic, and the Flying-types appreciate Umbreon's Wish support because of their Stealth Rock weakness. Entry hazard removers such as Latias and Tentacruel ensure that Umbreon won't have to take residual damage each time upon switching in. The latter pairs exceptionally well with Umbreon not only because it can take on certain physical attackers that scare Umbreon out, such as Cobalion and Scizor, but also because it removes Toxic Spikes by virtue of its Poison typing. Physically defensive Pokemon like Swampert and Alomomola pair well with Umbreon thanks to their ability to handle the majority of physical attackers, such as Infernape and Scizor. They are also capable of punishing common Taunt users like Crobat and Krookodile with a potential Scald burn. Unaware walls, such as Quagsire and Pyukumuku, deserve a special mention because they are able to beat setup sweepers like Cobalion and Terrakion that take advantage of Umbreon. Additionally, wallbreakers, such as Scizor and Primarina, appreciate Umbreon's Wish support and also scare out setup sweepers that attempt to set up on Umbreon.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Normalium Z, in conjunction with Heal Bell, not only makes Umbreon immune to Trick but also gives it a one-time full recovery. However, Umbreon does not like giving up the passive recovery that Leftovers provides, because it loses the ability to better check key threats such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sharpedo, and it also takes up a potential Z-Move from a teammate. A more physically defensive spread of 252 HP and Defense EVs with a Bold nature allows Umbreon to take on certain physical attackers such as Mega Sharpedo and Mega Absol better, but Umbreon's typing makes it still struggle against prominent physical attackers, such as Scizor and Cobalion.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Infernape force Umbreon out and may even set up with Swords Dance or Nasty Plot. Lucario and Cobalion deserve a special mention thanks to their immunity to Toxic and their ability, Justified, that raises their Attack each time Umbreon tries to use Foul Play on them.

**Bug-types**: Bug-types such as Scizor and Mega Beedrill threaten out Umbreon with their powerful STAB moves. They also maintain momentum with U-turn after Umbreon switches out. Both of these dislike switching into Foul Play, though.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria and Primarina, threaten Umbreon out with their powerful STAB moves and resist Foul Play. They can also set up Dragon Dance or launch a powerful attack, respectively. Togekiss deserves a special mention due to being able to cure Toxic poison inflicted by Umbreon with Heal Bell and taking advantage of its passivity to set up Nasty Plot.

**Toxic-immune Pokemon**: Toxic-immune Pokemon such as Cobalion and Reuniclus do not fear Toxic and can use Umbreon as setup fodder.

**Taunt users**: Taunt users such as Krookodile and Crobat take advantage of Umbreon by preventing it from healing. Furthermore, Krookodile can remove Umbreon's passive recovery, and Crobat can simultaneously bring in strong wallbreakers that take advantage of Umbreon, such as Primarina and Terrakion, and chip it via U-turn.

hey, amcheck here, feel free to wait for qc input before implementing anything

[OVERVIEW]

*Umbreon's 95 / 110 / 135 bulk, coupled with a good defensive typing, allows it to check prominent threats in the metagame, such as Mega Sharpedo, Hydreigon, and Latias. Furthermore, access to Wish and Heal Bell makes Umbreon a great cleric.

*Toxic and Foul Play allows Umbreon to not become a complete setup fodder for physical setup sweepers, such as Scizor and Haxorus. However, this is easily exploitable by Toxic-immune Pokemon with Justified, such as Cobalion and Lucario. It can also struggle with only relying on this to do damage due to the sheer number of Fairy- and Fighting-types in the tier like Mega Altaria, Azumarill, Breloom, and Infernape.

*Furthermore, Taunt users, such as Nidoking and Gliscor, completely shut Umbreon down by preventing it from healing itself or its teammates.

*Additionally, on one hand, reliance on Wish + Protect to keep itself healthy can potentially cause the loss of momentum, and on the other hand, reliance on Moonlight to keep itself healthy can be taken advantage of, due to Moonlight's relatively low PP.

*Umbreon also faces competition from Blissey as a Special wall, with Blissey having access to Soft-Boiled, Stealth Rock, and Natural Cure. Blissey also boasts a better defensive typing and more HP. Also mention how it faces competition from Sylveon in its role, trading more physical bulk for some offensive presence and a better defensive typing.

Talk about how Umbreon's typing means that it struggles against common pivots like Scizor and Mega Beedrill, Fighting-types like Cobalion and Infernape, and even special attackers like Primarina, which can make it struggle as a special wall. Its defensive typing is good, but it does give it vulnerabilities to common typings.

Moves
========

*Foul Play is Umbreon's most reliable STAB, that allows Umbreon to significantly damage the majority of physical attackers, such as Scizor, Mamoswine, and Mega Beedrill. Mamoswine is gone so remove that. Additionally, Mega Beedrill isn't the best example here because it diesn't really switch in and when it does come in, it's faster and pivots out with U-turn.

*Heal Bell heals Umbreon's teammates and itself from status ailments. This allows Umbreon to be a more reliable special wall throughout the game.

*Toxic not only gives Umbreon an easier time beating setup sweepers, such as Latias, but also lets it catch common switch-ins, such as Terrakion and Azumarill, and slowly help wear them down.

*Wish allows Umbreon to heal itself up, making it so it is harder to wear it down. It also lets it heal its teammates up.

*Protect, in combination with Wish, makes it so Umbreon has an easier time healing itself up. It also allows Umbreon to scout on common-Choice items users, such as Hydreigon and Infernape, and also lets itself gain more recovery from Leftovers.

*Moonlight, alternatively, gives Umbreon a more reliable form of self-recovery, by allowing itself to waste an important turn to receive a Wish. Note its low PP here.

Set Details
========

*Maximum investment in HP and SpD, together with a Calm Nature, allows Umbreon to take on Special attackers, such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile the best as possible.

*4 Speed EVs allows Umbreon to outpace uninvested Scizor, and hit it with a Foul Play before it gets to hit Umbreon with a super effective move. Note that most Scizor aren't uninvested and the only ones that don't invest are bulky sets 0- Atk Umbreon Foul Play vs. 248 HP / 124+ Def Scizor: 103-123 (30 - 35.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery. Mention some other Pokemon such as walls like Blissey and Swampert, that this benefits.

*Synchronize allows Umbreon to punish certain Toxic users, such as Mantine and Swampert, that attempt to Toxic it.

*Leftovers provides passive recovery that helps Umbreon to retain longevity.

Usage Tips
========

*Switch in Umbreon on Special attackers, such as Latias, Hydreigon, Nidoking, and Mega Sceptile.

*Use Protect to scout for potential mixed Special attackers with Fighting coverage, such as Superpower on Hydreigon and Nidoking, and to scout on Choice-locked Pokemon, such as Latias and Gengar. Potentially remove Nidoking from the first list if it should be scouted for to avoid confusion, as you say you can switch into it then say you must scout it; Superpower Hydreigon is less common so Umbreon could be considered a safer switch-in to that.

*Be wary of using Protect against certain potentially Choice-locked Pokemon that may utilize setup moves, such as Swords Dance Scizor, and Belly Drum Azumarill. In addition, be wary of switching in Umbreon on potential Trick users, such as Latias and Gengar. Add onto this and say that it means that Umbreon is severely resticted and cannot perform its role effectively.

*Umbreon could also be switched in on certain Physical attackers, such as Mega Aerodactyl, and Mega Sharpedo.

*Avoid spamming Foul Play against teams with Justified users, such as Cobalion, Terrakion, and Lucario, as they can easily take advantage of Foul Play to boost their Attack-stat.

*Despite access to Toxic and Foul Play, Umbreon heavily struggles to beat certain set-up sweepers, such as Gliscor and Terrakion.

*Do not stay in on Taunt users, such as Krookodile and Jellicent, because they can reliably shut down and beat Umbreon.

Talk about some potential Toxic targets and when to use it here; mention how it benefit's Umbreon's teammates by slowly wearing down foes.
A point about Heal Bell's PP and the best opportunities to use it (only when umbreon/its teammates are weakened a lot if a foe carrying Txoic is still healthy) clarifies its use.

Team Options
========

Say that Umbreon only really fits on bulky or stall teams.

*Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Sylveon, can handle Fighting-types, such as Infernape and Breloom. These three can also provide Heal Bell support, allowing Umbreon to freely run Toxic.

*Hazard removers, such as Latias and Tentacruel, ensure it won't have to take residual damage each time switching in. The latter pairs exceptionally well with Umbreon not only because it can take on certain physical attackers that scare Umbreon out, such as Cobalion and Scizor, but also because it removes Toxic Spikes by virtue of its Poison-typing.

*Physically defensive Pokemon, such as Swampert and Alomomola, pair well with Umbreon thanks to their ability to handle the majority of physical attackers, such as Infernape and Mamoswine. Gone. They are also capable of beating common Taunt users, such as Crobat and Krookodile. These two don't really beat Crobat unless they burn it and even then it can shut down recovery with Taunt and take advantage of Roost to PP stall them. Unaware walls, such as Quagsire and Pyukumuku, deserve a Special mention because they are able to beat setup sweepers, such as Cobalion and Terrakion, that take advantage of Umbreon to setup. Quagsire has to be wary of Fightinium Z, however.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Taunt, in conjunction with 44 Speed EVs, allows Umbreon to outspeed shut down certain passive Pokemon, such as Mantine, Jellicent, and Alomomola. However, Umbreon is still quite slow so it will struggle against faster passive Pokemon, such as Mandibuzz and Gliscor. This also cuts into its bulk. You should also clarify the full spread here for newer readers.

*Normalium Z, in conjunction with Heal Bell, not only makes Umbreon immune to Trick but also gives it a one-turn immediate, full recovery. However, Umbreon does not like giving up on the passive recovery that Leftovers provides because it allows it to beat key threats, such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sharpedo better.

*A more physically defensive spread of 252 HP / 252 Def, with a Bold nature, allows Umbreon to take on certain physical attackers, such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mamoswine Gone. In addition, Mega Aerodactyl has been used as an example that the specially defensive set can beat, so saying to use a physically defensive set for it is contradictory. better, but Umbreon's typing makes it still struggle against prominent physical attackers, such as Scizor and Azumarill.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bug-types**: Bug-type Pokemon, such as Scizor and Mega Beedrill, threaten out Umbreon with a powerful STAB move. They also remain momentum after Umbreon switching out. Both dislike switching into a Foul Play, though.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types, such as Infernape and Terrakion, force Umbreon out, and may even set up a Swords Dance or a Nasty Plot, respectively. Respectively here says that Infernape sets up Swords Dance, which can be true, and Terrakion sets up Nasty Plot, which is not true. Fix this by either switching the examples or specifying Infernape can run both. Lucario and Cobalion deserve a special mention, thanks to their immunity to Toxic and their ability, Justified, that raises their Attack stat each time Umbreon tries to Foul Play them. Mention Breloom here; can set up relatively safely and threaten with Mach Punch.

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria and Azumarill, threaten Umbreon out with a powerful STAB move, and resist Foul Play. They can also setup Dragon Dance or Belly Drum on it, respectively. Togekiss deserves a special mention due to being able to cure a Toxic from Umbreon with Heal Bell and taking advantage of its passivity to set up Nasty Plot.

**Toxic-immune Pokemon**: Toxic-immune Pokemon, such as Breloom, Either cut this mention or move it last on the list, as Technician is far more common than Poison Heal. Gliscor, and Reuniclus, do not fear Toxic and can use Umbreon as setup fodder. Steel-types also come under Toxic-immune Pokemon, so Cobalion/Lucario can have a mention, particularly Nasty Plot Lucario, which is its most common set and has lacked mentions.

Would reorder to Fighting-types, Fairy-types, Bug-types, and Toxic-immune Pokemon to reflect prevalence and threat level.

- I wouldn't really call Umbreon's defensive typing necessarily good, just say "decent"

*Toxic and Foul Play allows Umbreon to not become a complete setup fodder for physical setup sweepers, such as Scizor and Haxorus. However, this is easily exploitable by Toxic-immune Pokemon with Justified, such as Cobalion and Lucario.

*Furthermore, Taunt users, such as Nidoking and Gliscor, completely shut Umbreon down by preventing it from healing itself or its teammates. - Replace the Gliscor mention with another Taunt user, also I don't really see Taunt Nidoking too often so maybe replace both?

*Additionally, on one hand, reliance on Wish + Protect to keep itself healthy can potentially cause the loss of momentum, and on the other hand, reliance on Moonlight to keep itself healthy can be taken advantage of, due to Moonlight's relatively low PP.

Moves
========

*Foul Play is Umbreon's most reliable STAB, that allows Umbreon to significantly damage the majority of physical attackers, such as Scizor, Alolan Marowak, and Mega Beedrill. - Alolan Marowak is pretty bad, maybe replace with Mamoswine.

*Heal Bell heals Umbreon's teammates and itself from status ailments, which allows Umbreon to be more reliable as a special wall.

However, its low PP means Umbreon can be stalled out rather easily.

*Synchronize allows Umbreon to punish certain Toxic users, such as Mantine and Swampert, that attempt to Toxic it.

*Leftovers provides passive recovery that helps Umbreon to retain longevity.

Usage Tips
========

*Switch in Umbreon on Special attackers, such as Latias, Hydreigon, Nidoking, and Mega Sceptile. - this sounds a little barebones to me, can you find a way to flesh this sentence out a little more? maybe say what to do after switching into them

*Use Protect to scout for potential mixed Special attackers with Fighting coverage, such as Superpower on Hydreigon and Nidoking, and to scout on Choice-locked Pokemon, such as Latias and Gengar.

*Be wary of using Protect against certain potentially Choice-locked Pokemon that may utilize setup moves, such as Scizor, and Terrakion. In addition, be wary of switching in Umbreon on potential Trick users, such as Latias and Gengar.

- this sounds like something you would find in the intro, can you reword this sentence to sound more like a usage tip?

*Do not stay in on Taunt users, such as Krookodile and Jellicent, because they can reliably shut down and beat Umbreon.

*Use Toxic to reliably beat special attackers, such as Hydreigon and Latias, and on predicted switch-ins to Fighting-types, such as Infernape and Terrakion.

*Use Heal Bell when either Umbreon or its teammates are afflicted with a lethal status ailment while keeping in mind Heal Bell's penurious PP.

Team Options
========

*Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Sylveon, can handle Fighting-types, such as Infernape and Breloom. The latter two can also utilize Heal Bell so Umbreon could freely have Toxic.

*Physically defensive Pokemon, such as Swampert and Alomomola, pair well with Umbreon thanks to their ability to handle the majority of physical attackers, such as Infernape and Scizor. They are also capable of punishing common Taunt users, such as Crobat and Krookodile, with a potential Scald burn. Unaware walls, such as Quagsire and Pyukumuku, deserve a Special mention because they are able to beat setup sweepers, such as Cobalion and Terrakion, that take advantage of Umbreon to setup.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

*Taunt, in conjunction with an EV spread of 252 HP EVs, 212 SpD EVs, and 44 Speed EVs, allows Umbreon to outspeed shut down certain passive Pokemon, such as Mantine, Jellicent, and Alomomola. However, Umbreon is still quite slow so it will struggle against faster passive Pokemon, such as Mandibuzz and Gliscor. This also slightly cuts from Umbreon's bulk. - I really feel like this is not worth running, but it's up to you if you want to remove it. I would just never use Taunt over Toxic or Protect or some other move.

*A more physically defensive spread of 252 HP / 252 Def, with a Bold nature, allows Umbreon to take on certain physical attackers, such as Mega Sharpedo and Mega Absol better, but Umbreon's typing makes it still struggle against prominent physical attackers, such as Scizor and Azumarill. - remove Azu mention and replace with maybe Terrakion?

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bug-types**: Bug-type Pokemon, such as Scizor and Mega Beedrill, threaten out Umbreon with a powerful STAB move. They also remain momentum after Umbreon switching out. Both dislike switching into a Foul Play, though.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types, such as Terrakion and Infernape, force Umbreon out, and may even set up a Swords Dance or a Nasty Plot, respectively. Lucario and Cobalion deserve a special mention, thanks to their immunity to Toxic and their ability, Justified, that raises their Attack stat each time Umbreon tries to Foul Play them. Breloom also deserves a special mention because its Poison Heal set allows it to set up relatively freely on Breloom while also not mind Toxic. - switch this section with bug-types, I'd say that fighting-types are more consistent as a counter since they resist foul play, also mention in Bug-types that Scizor and Mega Beedrill are immune to Toxic.

**Toxic-immune Pokemon**: Toxic-immune Pokemon, such as Gliscor and Reuniclus, do not fear Toxic and can use Umbreon as setup fodder.

- since you mention in usage tips to be wary of Taunt users, give a section here dedicated to Taunt users.

in CC mention taunt users such as Krook and Crobat, with the former being able to Knock Off and the latter being able to pivot around Foul Play or the switch, although try to word that better.

Overall this looks pretty good content wise, I don't really care to change anything else up because it's pretty accurate and reflects Umbreon's capabilities, good stuff.

Overview
Furthermore, Taunt users, such as Jellicent and Krookodile
- Consider some more relevant examples like Crobat over at least Jellicent, which isn't that common in UU.
- Mention its passivity more explicitly when you talk about it being a momentum drain.
It also faces competition from Sylveon, which has a better defensive typing and better offensive presence.
- You can specify this competition is mainly as a cleric.

Moves
- Mention how Wish + Moonlight can heal Umbreon up effectively, and you can then combine it with when you mention Protect's reliability in healing with Wish.

Usage Tips
- You use Nidoking as an example as both something Umbreon should be wary of and as an example of something it can switch into. Remove one of these to avoid confusion.
- Choice Scarf Latias isn't the best right now, so you can give another example of a Choice-locked threat like Hydreigon, which scouting is good for because it can pivot out.
- Consider other Taunt users for the same reasons as in Overview.
- Talk about good opportunities to use Wish to heal up teammates; using it when a Pokemon that can't break Umbreon and is thus forced out is a good idea.
- Mention keeping its HP as high as possible throughout the game to consistently check what it needs to, and as a result being careful of creating setup opportunities with Wish + Protect as well as Moonlight's low PP.

Team Options
- Mention what kind of teams / archetypes Umbreon fits on.
- You can also mention other Flying-types as Fighting checks, and they appreciate Wish support due to Stealth Rock too.
- Talk about other offensive breakers that appreciate Wish support and what they can do for Umbreon in return.
- Mention hazard support to pressure foes on forced switches from Pokemon that Umbreon walls. This also adds up well with Toxic / Foul Play damage.

Other Options
- Z-Heal Bell also prevents a more offensive teammate from running a Z-Move to break its checks and counters too.

Checks and Counters
They also remain momentum after Umbreon switching out.
- Rephrase this in Bug-types to reference U-turn directly to avoid confusion.
- Give U-turn a specfic mention in Taunt Users to clarify how Crobat brings in answers to Umbreon.

QC 3/3, give this a quick read over and then it'll be good for GP

[OVERVIEW]

Umbreon's 95 / 110 / 135 bulk, coupled with a decent defensive typing, allows it to check prominent threats in the metagame, (RC) such as Mega Sharpedo, Hydreigon, and Latias. Furthermore, access to Wish and Heal Bell makes Umbreon a great cleric. Toxic and Foul Play allows allow Umbreon to not become a complete setup fodder for deter physical setup sweepers, (RC) such as Scizor and Haxorus from setting up on it. However, this is easily exploitable by Toxic-immune Pokemon with Justified, such as Cobalion and Lucario. Furthermore, Taunt users, such as Crobat and Krookodile, completely shut Umbreon down by preventing it from healing itself or its teammates. Additionally, on one hand, reliance on Wish + Protect to keep itself healthy can potentially cause the loss of momentum, and on the other hand, while reliance on Moonlight to keep itself healthy can be taken advantage of, (RC) due to Moonlight's relatively low PP. It also suffers from the presence of pivots, (RC) such as Scizor, Mega Beedrill, and Infernape, who can threaten it out and keep gain momentum with U-turn. Umbreon faces competition from Blissey as a Special special wall, with Blissey having a defensive typing that grants it fewer weaknesses, higher HP, and access to Soft-Boiled, Stealth Rock, and Natural Cure. It also faces competition as a cleric (added in QC) from Sylveon, which has a better defensive typing and better offensive presence.

Foul Play is Umbreon's most reliable STAB move; (RC and AS) it that allows Umbreon to significantly damage the majority of physical attackers, (RC) such as Scizor, Mamoswine, and Mega Beedrill. Heal Bell heals Umbreon's teammates and itself from status ailments, which also allows Umbreon to be more reliable as a special wall. Toxic not only gives Umbreon an easier time beating setup sweepers, (RC) such as Latias, but also lets it catch poison common switch-ins, (RC) such as Terrakion and Kommo-o, (RC) and slowly help wear them down. Wish allows Umbreon to heal itself up, making it so it is harder to wear it down. It also lets it heal its teammates up. Protect, in combination with Wish, In combination with Wish, Protect (this might be a subjective change, but this sounds way better imo) makes it so gives Umbreon has an easier time healing itself up. Maximum investment in HP and SpD Special Defense, together combined with a Calm Nature, allows Umbreon to take on Special special attackers, such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile the as best as possible. 4 Speed EVs allows allow Umbreon to outpace uninvested Scizor, (RC) and hit it with a Foul Play before it gets to hit Umbreon with a super effective move. It also allows Umbreon to outpace Blissey and Swampert. Synchronize allows Umbreon to punish certain Toxic users such as Mantine and Swampert that attempt to Toxic it. Leftovers provides passive recovery, (AC) that which helps Umbreon to retain longevity.

Usage Tips
========
(line break)
Switch in Umbreon on Special special attackers, (RC) such as Latias, Hydreigon, and Mega Sceptile and beat them via attacking with Foul Play whenever Umbreon is in at a comfortable amount of HP; (RC and AH) which this is achieved by continuously using Wish in tandem with Protect, (RC) or with Moonlight. Hence, Umbreon needs to stay as healthy as possible throughout the match. Generally, you should use Wish either when Umbreon is low on HP, (RC) or when it a teammate should be healed up. Use Protect to scout for potential mixed Special special attackers with Fighting coverage, such as Superpower on Hydreigon and Nidoking, and to scout on Choice-locked Pokemon, (RC) such as like Latias and Gengar. Be wary of using Protect against certain potentially Choice-locked Pokemon that may utilize setup moves, such as Scizor, (RC) and Terrakion. In addition, be wary of switching in Umbreon on potential Trick users, (RC) such as Latias and Gengar. Umbreon could also be switched in on certain Physical attackers, such as Mega Aerodactyl, (RC) and Mega Sharpedo. Avoid spamming Foul Play against teams with Justified users, (RC) such as Cobalion, Terrakion, and Lucario, as they can easily take advantage of Foul Play to boost their Attack-(RH)stat. Despite access to Toxic and Foul Play, Umbreon heavily struggles to beat certain set-up setup sweepers such as Kommo-o and Terrakion, (RC) that beat it by virtue of their typing. Hence, it is wise to not stay in on them, as they use Umbreon as a setup fodder. Do not stay in on Taunt users, (RC) such as Krookodile and Jellicent, because they can reliably shut down and beat Umbreon. Use Toxic to reliably beat special attackers, (RC) such as Hydreigon and Latias, and on predicted switch-ins to Fighting-types, (RC) such as like Infernape and Terrakion. Use Heal Bell when either Umbreon or its teammates are afflicted with a lethal status ailment, (AC) while keeping in mind Heal Bell's penurious PP.

Umbreon fits well on balance teams and stall teams. Fairy-types, (RC) such as Mega Altaria, Togekiss, and Sylveon, and Flying-types, (RC) such as like Moltres and Crobat can handle Fighting-types, (RC) such as Infernape and Kommo-o. The aforementioned Fairy-types can also utilize Heal Bell so Umbreon could can freely have run Toxic, and the aforementioned Flying-types appreciate Umbreon's Wish support because of their Stealth Rock weakness. Hazard removers, (RC) such as Latias and Tentacruel, (RC) ensure that it Umbreon won't have to take residual damage each time upon switching in. The latter pairs exceptionally well with Umbreon not only because it can take on certain physical attackers that scare Umbreon out, such as Cobalion and Scizor, but also because it removes Toxic Spikes by virtue of its Poison-(RH)typing. Physically defensive Pokemon, such as like Swampert and Alomomola, pair well with Umbreon thanks to their ability to handle the majority of physical attackers, such as Infernape and Scizor. They are also capable of punishing common Taunt users, such as like Crobat and Krookodile, with a potential Scald burn. Unaware walls, such as Quagsire and Pyukumuku, deserve a Special special mention because they are able to beat setup sweepers, (RC) such as like Cobalion and Terrakion, (RC) that take advantage of Umbreon to setup set up. Additionally, wallbreakers, such as Scizor and Primarina, (AC) appreciate Umbreon's Wish support and also scare out set up setup sweepers that attempt to set up on Umbreon.

Normalium Z, in conjunction with Heal Bell, not only makes Umbreon immune to Trick, (AC) but also gives it a one-turn immediate, full recovery. However, Umbreon does not like giving up on the passive recovery that Leftovers provides because it allows it Umbreon to beat key better check key threats, (RC) such as Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Sharpedo better, and it also takes up a potential Z-move from a teammate. A more physically defensive spread of 252 HP / 252 Def and Defense EVs, (RC) with a Bold nature, (RC) allows Umbreon to take on certain physical attackers, such as Mega Sharpedo and Mega Absol better, but Umbreon's typing makes it still struggle against prominent physical attackers, such as Scizor and Cobalion.

**Bug-types**: Bug-types (keeping it consistent with the above and below paragraphs) Pokemon, such as Scizor and Mega Beedrill, (RC) threaten out Umbreon with a their powerful STAB moves. **Fairy-types**: Fairy-types, such as Mega Altaria and Primarina, threaten Umbreon out with a their powerful STAB moves, (RC) and resist Foul Play. They can also setup set up Dragon Dance or use it to launch a powerful attack, respectively. Togekiss deserves a special mention due to being able to cure a Toxic from Umbreon with Heal Bell and taking advantage of its passivity to set up Nasty Plot.

**Toxic-immune Pokemon**: Toxic-immune Pokemon, (RC) such as Cobalion and Reuniclus, (RC) do not fear Toxic and can use Umbreon as setup fodder.

**Taunt-(RH)users**: Taunt-(RH)users such as Krookodile and Crobat take advantage of Umbreon by preventing it to heal from healing. Furthermore, Krookodile can remove Umbreon's passive recovery and Crobat can simultaneously bring in strong wallbreakers that take advantage of Umbreon, (AC) such as Primarina and Terrakion, (AC) and chip it via U-turn.
