Project Top 10 Titans of the 6th Gen RU Metagame (Some final revision before Sun & Moon; check post #216)

Cobalion For the reasons above.

Megalix barely edged it out because of how much of an impact it had while it was around. If it had been around during XY too it would have been top 3 for sure.

Reuniclus

For reasons stated in my previous post. It also had a longer stretch of dominance, wheras Cobalion only became a superstar once its biggest counters in Cresselia, Doublade, Reuniclus itself, and Slowking rose.

Sharpedo

Let's face it, it was one of the best Pokemon in XY RU, where the physical set p.much threatened every team and the mixed set just won (Hydro, Crunch, Ice Beam). When it dropped in ORAS, it was too powerful, which lead to Pokemon such as Gurdurr rise in usage and was eventually banned because it's broken lol.

Mega Abomasnow

Both Sharpedo and Mega Abomasnow are rather comparable but I think the giant snowman easily had the edge over the shark virtue of its outstanding combination of bulk and power, and it could afford to switch into a decent amount of things to start throwing blizzards or whatever it wanted. Profficient balance breaker that could easily adapt to any metagame trends. Swords Dance, Mixed wallbreaker, special wallbreaker with ice shard, amazing mon in general and one of the most consistent mons I have seen, its usage and effectiveness on many tours speaks for it.

Mega Abomasnow just had everything it needed to succeed in the RU meta game, ranging from factors like its variety of sets, great bulk and power, and natural ability to check important mons in the meta game. It could beat so many things with just one slot on a team, and the rest of the team could be built to overcome what Aboma needed assistance with.

No Cresselia in BIG3
Not even nominated.

Cresselia is one of the RU Pkmn most iconic in the history, not only in 6th gen.

I remember everyone using Cresselia to counter everything: Mega-Pidgeot, Moltres, Mega-Sceptile, Fight types, Tyrantrum, Cobalion, Virizion, etc. Like Cresselia countered the 80% of the meta by itself lol

Top 3 would be Moltres/Cresselia, Cresselia/Moltres and Alomomola. Then Doublade, Mega-Steelix, Gligar, Cobalion, Mega-Abomasnow, Durant and Tyrantrum imo :)

Special mention: Pangoro :pirate:

Mega Abomasnow

It had very good coverage in its STABs alone and some nice extra coverage to back it up (EQ or HP Fire were good moves for it), and had a hell of a lot of power with high offenses and high power in its moves. It was also very bulky and even though it had a lot of weaknesses, it had some nice resistances too. Ice Shard was also slick priority to have too. It had a multitude of sets it could use well, such as a mixed set, a specially oriented set with Blizzard, or an SD set with Ice Shard, Wood Hammer, and EQ. All of these allowed it to wallbreak and break through balance teams effectively. Snow Warning was a neat side bonus too for the residual damage. It was a very good Pokemon ever since the start of XY RU and was always excellent until the day it was axed.

Durant

Extremely powerful with an incredibly useful speed tier that made an impact since pretty much the beginning of RU to its ban. Specifically the speed tier allowed it to outspeed and beat Cobalion (Superpower) and Virizion, both of which have hovered around A / A+ / S rank their entire time in the tier. CB was an underrated monster than broke many balance cores (Crunch to beat Doublade rocked) while also acting as a fast Pokemon that was very hard for offense to switch into. CS was very fast and could revenge kill virtually anything, as well as having Baton Pass to pivot. Hone Claws was a horrifying set up sweeper that had a very good chance of cleaning thanks to Hone Claws patching up accuracy issues and Hustle meaning it could afford to not run LO and use Lum Berry instead. Also had a decent defensive typing (although terrible HP / SpD sucked) and could break past common answers with Thunder Fang if it wanted to, although to be fair it wasn't very optimal most of the time. Mega Aboma is a very good mon but I don't think it had as great of an impact over its entire time in the tier as Durant, although it was incredibly powerful as the meta progressed, especially once ORAS hit.
