yeah jirachi has won almost every single game its been in so far, so lets take a little look at that

disregarding totem's week 1 game since that was to timeout and it was fairly early in the match to tell who would win

im not really that good at analyzing teams or the meta but i'll give it my best shot. as usual jirachi is paired up with setup sweepers (volc) or strongass megas that are difficult to KO when paired with redirection (kanga, diancie, even aero). its defensive typing is extraordinary in this meta, being able to redirect things like kanga, diancie, and metagross, 3 great megas (more so kanga and diancie), to allow a partner to batter through the opposition. its stab also allows it to take out mega diancie, which is great for any team. also, being able to tackle all grass types like amoonguss and venusaur are solid as well. we all know how great redirection so im not really gonna get into that, just that the things it can redirect are plentiful and very good in the meta.

jirachi can do a lot of work in each matchup, with speed control like twave/icy wind, a stab that actually does some sort of damage in iron head (haha flinches are great aren't they), and redirection with incredible typing. I think jirachi's greatest boon is its typing and how that matches up with the rest of the meta. like i previously stated, being able to redirect the two hottest megas of kanga and diancie (and even ohko/2hko'ing diancie depending on def boosts) is an incredible asset by itself. adding to this, the things it can cover for partners are wide in variety as well. while it doesn't exactly resist a lot for kanga, anything that really ohko's jirachi is ohko'd back by kanga, and it takes at the least 2 hits to take down rachi, ideally giving kanga 2 free turns. for something like azu, it resists grass and poison, while being bulky enough to take electric attacks with enough ease to provide azu with the turn it needs. while ground is a common weakness, jirachi tanks steel/grass attacks with incredible ease for diancie, and the only waters not beaten by diancie are the weaker rotom and suicune, which are also easy to redirect.

the point is pretty clear. from what i see, the diverse synergy it has with several different powerhouses and the bulk to back it up provides teams with the free turns that can decide games in doubles. given that it also matches up well with a wide portion of the meta, jirachi really is a mon that is always useful and never dead weight in a matchup, and i think this is a large part of the reason why its won nearly every game its been in.

someone elaborate on this, i pretty much only talked about jirachi itself, and jirachi + 1 mon at most. i didn't go over team compositions or matchups in the actual match, because frankly, i dont really know what to write about that. would love some opinions on this post as well as elaboration on what made jirachi so successful!

Jirachi 8-2 so far, despite Lando-T, Thundurus, Heatran, Talonflame, Aegislash, Rotom-W, Charizard, and Hydreigon being 8 of the top 10 mons...

how

rachi to tier one

edit:
it's kinda weird how Char Y is 2-4 rn, considering how popular rachi is
edit two: and one of those wins is against another zard y team

@KyleCole: contribute to this thread idiots
ok

megacyber, jirachi had like nothing to do with those wins. its a total coincidence jirachi has a great record

whats with all the shit teams recently? Politoed on a sun team with no one(except aegi, but thats a stretch) benefiting from rain, swagger twave, dark pulse hoopa

Player of the week award goes to Arcticblast!!!
He came from being down 6-4 with a burned meta gross to win using a cool team.
Congrats Arctic, stay tuned to this thread for next week's player of the week

ftr i had no ideas during week 6 so i brought shit instead.

edit: i'll try to bring more fun shit since team's season is basically over

Ruiners showing the Talonflame love 5 weeks running.
In fairness, talon is extremely good. Was building with my tutee on monday and looking for a sixth for the team, we were weak to trick room, sun, and talon, so I added a (CB) talon lol. Zach was looking for help on his SPL team; he was weak to fairies and Ludicolo, so we changed the Keldeo to a Talon (then he sacked it for tailwind turn 1 and proceeded to naturally outspeed his opponents mons every turn until tailwind ran out).

but yeah talons jus good af, i know it's not a "reliable" check to anything but its a shaky check to everything and goddamn is that nifty. kind of like the offensive team version of bulky thund with its twaves, tbh.
