Sorry for being late. The new victim for this week is Life Orb Kyurem-B.

1513336171033.png

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Hidden Power Fire
- Roost

Mega Tyranitar as a check - almost a counter...

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

Mega Tyranitar can switch in on any of Kyurem-Black's moves and avoid a 2HKO, except for Fusion Bolt under electric terrain which has a 2/3 chance to 2HKO. So with electric terrain up, Tyranitar needs a free switch so is a check but without terrain it can counter kyurem. With terrain and a free switch it can d-dance once, without terrain it can do so twice. T-Tar has a 99.7% chance to OHKO with Stone Edge without a boost, and it should set up at least one D-Dance against Kyurem, then outspeed and get a guaranteed OHKO with stone edge. Tyranitar also avoids a 2HKO from Earth Power, so no risk on that front. The only thing I'd worry about is stone edge missing, but if you're really worried then you could run rock slide instead, but normally I'd go for Stone Edge for the damage output against other mons.

Here are some relevant calcs:
252 Atk Tyranitar-Mega Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 390-458 (99.7 - 117.1%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
+1 252 Atk Tyranitar-Mega Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 582-686 (148.8 - 175.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(+1 252 Atk Tyranitar-Mega Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 438-516 (112 - 131.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO)

4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar-Mega: 105-125 (30.7 - 36.6%) -- 65.8% chance to 3HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar-Mega in Electric Terrain: 159-187 (46.6 - 54.8%) -- 64.5% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar-Mega in Sand: 103-122 (30.2 - 35.7%) -- 35.3% chance to 3HKO
(252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar-Mega in Sand: 138-164 (40.4 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO)

Mega Lopunny as a check

Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- High Jump Kick
- Power-Up Punch
- Encore

Click High Jump Kick, get the KO (or pup if you think that the opponent will switch). Easy.

252 Atk Lopunny-Mega High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 440-518 (112.5 - 132.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Gastrodon as a counter :)

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Recover

Gastrodon walls Kyurem-B without any struggle, taking only 40% max from Ice Beam. Gastrodon should only worry about getting frozen as it switches in, having a 60% chance to get 3HKOed in case Kyurem-B does manage to freeze it (it should Scald turn 2 to thaw), but even then, unless you're aDrive or aim, you'll not freeze a Gastrodon that easily. From there, Gastrodon can just Toxic or Recover Stall Kyurem-B, making it an effective counter.

Stakataka as a check.
(This is my first attempt at this sort of thing so bear with me)

Stakataka @ Rockium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
IVs: 15 Def / 0 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Trick Room
- Gyro Ball
- Stone Edge
- Superpower

This is the standard Stakataka set. Trick Room is to enable a sweep as Stakataka is the slowest thing in in the tier and becomes lightning fast when Trick Room is active, Gyro Ball and Stone Edge function as powerful STAB moves and Superpower provides coverage on certain targets such as Ferrothorn

Fortunately this Kyurem-B lacks Earth Power which means Stakataka can function as a check. Stakataka's typing and amazing defence stat even with a lonely nature allows it to avoid a 2hko from any of Kyurem-B's moves.

Calcs:
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Stakataka: 90-105 (27.6 - 32.2%) -- 4.6% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0- Def Stakataka: 88-105 (26.9 - 32.2%) -- 3.7% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Stakataka: 81-95 (24.8 - 29.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock

Once Stakataka switches in it can use Trick Room to set up a sweep or attack straight away, its Stone Edge/Continental Crush and Gyro Ball boast enough power to OHKO Kyurem-B:

252+ Atk Stakataka Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 542-638 (138.6 - 163.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Stakataka Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 362-428 (92.5 - 109.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Stakataka Continental Crush (180 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kyurem-Black: 650-768 (166.2 - 196.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Because of how strong Stakataka is Kyurem-B is forced out immediately. However, if Electric Terrain is active and Stealth Rock is up there's a very small chance Stakataka can be 2hko'ed by Fusion Bolt:

4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0- Def Stakataka in Electric Terrain: 133-157 (40.7 - 48.1%) -- 6.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

But the chance is so small Kyurem-B is likely to switch out anyway.

Reserving Stall Cresselia
Cresselia as a Counter

Cresselia (F) @ Leftovers / Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonlight / Rest
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Psychic / Trick / Lunar Dance

With the disgusting stats Cresselia, it's almost no surprise it can wall one of the most unwallable threats in the tier. Not just taking on the infamous LOKB, but going above and beyond checking its other Zmove sets as well, only losing to Hax from Freeze or Crit. While only commonly seen in Ou as a Tr setter, Stall Cress has been seen, especially after Duggy ban, as LOKB was on the rise in usage during that point. The slashes are options seen used by Cartoon during Olt Playoffs, and I thought I'd include them as there is no standard Stall Cress set. This set only really works with Stall, due to the passive nature of Cresselia, needing Heal Bell support for Rest or status from your opponent, and other defensive support from walls to reduce reliance on Moonlight.
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Cresselia: 144-172 (32.5 - 38.8%) -- 5.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 95-113 (21.4 - 25.5%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia in Electric Terrain: 143-169 (32.2 - 38.1%) -- 1.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Cresselia: 65-77 (14.6 - 17.3%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery

And just to prove is goes above and beyond by checking the Z sets too:
252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Subzero Slammer (200 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 255-300 (57.5 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia in Electric Terrain: 128-151 (28.8 - 34%) -- 99.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 85-101 (19.1 - 22.7%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia in Electric Terrain: 229-270 (51.6 - 60.9%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

67.7+34+6.25=107.95

With Rocks up, Z-Sub Slammer into a Electric Terrain boosted Fusion Bolt, Cresselia will fall, other wise without these 2 Circumstances, Cresselia has a very good chance of living.

60.9+6.25+34=101.15

While ElectriumZ in Terrain + Rocks is also walled most of the time.

Check: Tapu Lele

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Most Lele sets (such as Specs and Fightinium Z) can work as checks, but I'll be listing the Scarf set as it doesn't speed tie and can thus switch in in an emergency. Moonblast has a really high chance to OHKO, and if it doesn't, you can survive one hit from it and it will die to LO recoil. Psychic and Focus Blast also do a lot, so in case you think your opponent will switch in a Fairy resist you can use these moves rather safely if KyuB is chipped. It also has the bonus of getting rid of Electric Terrain that KyuB uses to boost Fusion Bolt.

Calcs:
252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 378-446 (96.6 - 114%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black in Psychic Terrain: 268-316 (68.5 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 318-376 (81.3 - 96.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 160-188 (56.9 - 66.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tapu Lele: 190-224 (67.6 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 71-84 (25.2 - 29.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Volt Switch
- Calm Mind

Tapu Koko as a check. Can't switch in, as it only just avoids a OHKO from Ice Beam, but it outruns and OHKOs with Twinkle Tackle.

On my phone so can't post sprites

AV Magearna as a check (counter if there is no electric terrain or spikes)

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Fleur Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Volt Switch

252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 39-47 (10.7 - 12.9%) -- possible 8HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 107-127 (29.3 - 34.8%) -- 13.3% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Magearna: 73-86 (20 - 23.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 133-157 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Electric Terrain: 199-235 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 133-157 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- 26.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

4 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 428-506 (109.4 - 129.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
4 SpA Magearna Flash Cannon vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 264-312 (67.5 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Iron head on AV magearna is trash

Chansey as a counter

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic / Thunder Wave
- Heal Bell / Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss

Chansey isn't 2HKO by anything Kyurem can use, and waits for it to slowly die from Toxic/life orb.

Calcs:

252 SpA Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Eviolite Chansey: 114-136 (16.2 - 19.3%) -- possible 6HKO
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 198-233 (28.1 - 33.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Mega Medicham is faster and OHKOs Kyurem-B with High Jump Kick. Because of its insane Attack stat and the way KB teams are typically structured, the KB user will be put under a lot of pressure when trying to take a hit from this thing’s coverage range.
