[OVERVIEW]
Seismitoad is one of the premier Water-types in the tier thanks to its good defensive typing and its ability Water Absorb, giving it resistances to common attacking types like Fire and Rock as well as immunities to Water- and Electric-type moves. This is complemented well by Seismitoad's decent overall bulk and support movepool, which let it serve as one of the tier's most reliable Stealth Rock users. However, Seismitoad comes with its own flaws, as its typing gives it a 4x weakness to Grass-type moves, making it struggle against common offensive Pokemon like Sceptile and Rotom-C. Furthermore, a lack of reliable recovery makes Seismitoad somewhat easy to wear down and overwhelm, giving it competition with other Water-types like Slowbro, Jellicent, and Slowking. Seismitoad is also held back by its mediocre Speed and is somewhat passive.

Moves
========
Seismitoad's bulk and typing allow it to set up Stealth Rock reliably, and the entry hazard is also necessary on every team. Scald is Seismitoad's primary STAB attack due to its good coverage as well as its chance to burn, which can cripple common switch-ins such as Virizion and Golbat. Earth Power is Seismitoad's other STAB move, which is primarily to hit Poison-types like Qwilfish, Garbodor, and Toxicroak. Toxic is usually run in the last slot in order to cripple defensive Pokemon like Slowbro, Vaporeon, Braviary, and Uxie. However, Knock Off is also an option to cripple the aformentioned Pokemon along with Pokemon reliant on their item like Sceptile and Golbat. Protect can be used to scout moves from Pokemon holding a Choice item, like Sceptile, Rotom-C, and Sawk, while also providing a free turn of recovery from Leftovers.
Set Details
========
As Seismitoad typically functions as a physical tank, maximize its HP and Defense EVs and run a Bold nature so that it can take hits from Pokemon like Sneasel reliably. Seismitoad runs Leftovers as its item for passive recovery after each turn. Water Absorb is used as its ability to give it an immunity to Water-type attacks, making it a solid answer to Pokemon like Slowbro and Lanturn.
Usage Tips
========
Seismitoad should be setting up Stealth Rock early-game if possible, as well as against Pokemon that it forces out like Rhydon, Steelix, Piloswine, Qwilfish, and Toxicroak. It should be switched in on some of the aforementioned Pokemon as well as threats like Emboar, Slowbro, and Slowking. While it can check Pokemon like Emboar and Typhlosion, it should be wary of Grass-type coverage moves that can OHKO Seismitoad. If Stealth Rock has already been set up, using any of Scald, Toxic, or Knock Off is worthwhile to cripple common switch-ins. Seismitoad gets worn down heavily by status and having its item removed by Knock Off, so it should be wary of both.
Team Options
========
Seismitoad is highly susceptible to Grass-type moves, so Pokemon that can switch into them such as Golbat, Xatu, Braviary, Vileplume, Emboar, and Garbodor are good partners. Golbat and Xatu in particular can switch in on Toxic and deter entry hazards for Seismitoad, while they also appreciates Seismitoad's ability to switch in on Electric- and Rock-type attacks. Pokemon that benefit from the chip damage provided by Stealth Rock, such as Virizion, Hitmonlee, and Sneasel, mesh well with it. Aromatisse and Granbull work well with Seismitoad, as they can tank Knock Off easily and heal status for Seismitoad, both of which trouble it heavily. Other Pokemon, such as Delphox, Emboar, Klinklang, and Magmortar, that can take advantage of Grass-types pair nicely with Seismitoad, as they can take care of Grass-types and can switch into moves like Freeze-Dry that threaten it, while Seismitoad can also set up Stealth Rock for them and check Water- and Rock-types. Klinklang in particular appreciates Seismitoad's ability to deal with Steelix, and it can set up on the Grass- and Ice-type Pokemon that threaten Seismitoad. As Seismitoad can get worn down through repeated hits and hazards, methods of healing it like Wish variants of Audino, the aforementioned Aromatisse, and Healing Wish variants of Mesprit are appreciated by it. Cryogonal is a good partner for Seismitoad, since it can check Grass-types, switch into Freeze-Dry, and also clear hazards that wear Seismitoad down.

Other Options
=============
Seismitoad can use a Substitute + Toxic set to serve as a stallbreaker that can take advantage of Pokemon like Slowbro and Vaporeon. However, a more offensive variant of Seismitoad with Stealth Rock, Hydro Pump, Earth Power, and Sludge Wave alongside maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and a Timid nature can be used to take advantage of its decent offenses and movepool, letting it lure common switch-ins like Xatu and take them out. However, it makes Seismitoad noticeably less bulky, making it harder for it to tank hits. An offensive set with Swift Swim and Rain Dance can be used in conjunction with Waterium Z to make a potent late-game cleaner, but it doesn't handle bulky Pokemon like Slowbro and Slowking any better than the defensive set does, and the limited turns of rain makes it hard to use. A set with Normalium Z and Refresh gives Seismitoad a one-time full recovery move and can cure status conditions. Choice Specs can be used to complement Seismitoad's decent offensive typing in order to make it a strong wallbreaker, but it finds itself outclassed by other Pokemon that are stronger and have better coverage, and fitting it on a team is awkward given its typing.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Whimsicott, Sceptile, Virizion, Rotom-C, and Lilligant all resist both of Seismitoad's STAB attacks and threaten it with their 4x super effective STAB moves, although they must be wary of being crippled by Toxic or Knock Off. Vileplume is also a great answer despite not being resistant to Earth Power, as it takes little damage from it and is immune to Toxic as well.
**Ice-types**: Pokemon like Cryogonal and Vanilluxe can take on Seismitoad due to their access to Freeze-Dry, which hits Seismitoad for 4x super effective damage. Cryogonal in particular can switch into Seismitoad with little worry and can clear the hazards that Seismitoad sets up.
**Wallbreakers**: While the latter can't switch in reliably, Pokemon like Vikavolt, Guzzlord, and Delphox can all OHKO Seismitoad with their strong attacks.
**Status**: Seismitoad's longevity is severely lessened by status, so Pokemon with Toxic such as Slowbro and Golbat are nuisances for it.
