Sleep isn't banned in regular 1v1 for the same reason I think sleep is fine: there is sufficient counterplay for it. Substitute, Lum/Chesto Berry, RestTalk users, etc. are all very viable things to run. I do agree that sleep is a particularly powerful strategy but it's just something that needs to be prepped for when teambuilding. Again, it's probably to early to say, but those are just my initial thoughts on sleep in PU 1v1.

I played a bunch of matches with TJ, but was too busy IRL to actually enter. That being said, I still have some sets for people who may be bored and want something new to use. There are so many more sets I had, but I wrote up a quick list for people to browse through:

Avalugg @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Avalanche
- Recover
- Mirror Coat

AVALUGG WORKING IN GEN 7 1v1 LOL

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen71v1-545602458
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen71v1-545601823

Simple: Curse up against phys. offensive attackers, use Mirror Coat + Sturdy against spec. offensive ones, and Recover when necessary. Nearly won in Tours with this a second ago, this is pretty consistent. Toxic is annoying to deal with, so Lum Berry is slashed, but Avalugg can easily make use of other items like Mental Herb to absorb Taunt or Encore, Rocky Helmet to punish physical attackers further, and resist berries too.

Gourgeist-Super @ Occa Berry
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Foul Play
- Skill Swap
- Synthesis
- Will-O-Wisp

Simply click Skill Swap on Fire-types like Rapidash or Ninetales, or Will O Wisp on physical attackers. You can use its standard defensive spread or a different resist berry, but it works the same effectively. Insomnia prevents Smeargle's Dark Void from beating you (below), while you can beat RestTalk users with a combination of Skill Swap and Insomnia to prevent Rest from working as it should.

Simply click Skill Swap against Stoutland and watch it lose Scrappy lol.

Smeargle @ Quick Claw / Lum Berry / Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Transform
- Imprison
- Spore
- Dark Void

Posted this here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/thread...derrated-sets-replays-required.3551661/page-6.

I used that set, but replaced its entry hazards with a second Sleep Move for Disable users like Kadabra (below). Use Sleep (Dark Void for Spore-immune targets like Zebstrika, Bouffalant, Vullaby, etc., Spore for everything else) --> then Imprison --> and then Transform to fully lock your foe out of all 4 of its moves for a cheap win. Quick Claw will let you win speed-ties more often, but Leftovers or a Lum Berry would probably be more reliable.

Kadabra @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Encore
- Protect
- Psychic
- Disable

A pretty common set from the 1v1 thread, but re-posting it here anyway. Protect --> Disable --> Encore will Encore the disabled attack, forcing your foe to struggle. At that point, Struggle + Rocky Helmet will be doing 37.5% each time Kadabra is hit by Struggle. You can use Recover over Psychic to live through the Struggles, but having an Attack to beat Taunt users is nice.

Murkrow @ Eviolite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Calm Mind
- Feather Dance
- Dark Pulse

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-542478991

Feather Dance + Eviolite + full HP and Defense investment lets you take down CB Stoutland. Just Feather Dance a few times, Roost up when you're low, and Calm Mind or Dark Pulse when your HP is close to max. Calm Mind against specially offensive attackers (with Priority) and Roost through supereffective hits. This is also effective in full 6 on 6 battles.

Lickilicky @ Leftovers
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Knock Off

You can go with Substitute + Swords Dance and two attacks for a more offensive set, but this plays very similarly to CroMuk. However, instead of being immune to the item-removing effects of moves like Trick and Knock Off like Muk is, Oblivious keeps CroLicky safe from Taunt, letting it setup safely. Dark coverage is nice in 1 on 1 as it has no type or ability that blocks it completely (unlike Body Slam).

Ampharos @ Leftovers
Ability: Plus
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magnetic Flux
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Charge Beam

Posted this here already: http://www.smogon.com/forums/thread...derrated-sets-replays-required.3551661/page-5. However, it honestly works better with Mega-Ampharos once you've boosted up and obtained Mold Breaker via mega evolution to do damage with Charge Beam to Pokemon with Electric immunities, but it still works fine here in PU. Plus + Magnetic Flux = Cosmic Power effectively. Sleep Talk will call either MF or Charge Beam, making this pretty threatening if it obtains its boosts. Sleep Talk is very useful in an underdeveloped meta where Pokemon with sleep-inducing moves are used often.

Sawsbuck @ King's Rock
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Work Up
- Synthesis
- Nature Power

My original set. Sawsbuck has a 20% chance to Flinch with attacks due to King's Rock so you can fish for status via Nature Power, a 40% chance to lower SpDef with Shadow Ball, and a solid 40% chance to paralyze, freeze, or burn with Nature Power (Tri Attack). Nature Power dodges Sucker Punches since it isn't actually counted as an attack itself. Synthesis when you're low.

Cottonee @ Eviolite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Protect
- Toxic

Prankster Leech Seed / Toxic / Substitute are all horribly annoying. Cycle through Substitute and Protect as Leech Seed and Toxic whittle away at your foes.

Golduck @ Leftovers
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 248 HP / 128 Def / 132 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Disable

This has enough Speed for Adamant Monferno, and is very usable in regular PU battles. Substitute down and disable your foe's Attacks, and then boost up. Calm Mind combined with Golduck's natural bulk, Leftovers, and possible Scald burns increases your likelihood of winning.

Aron @ Shell Bell
Ability: Sturdy
Level: 1
EVs: 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Endeavor
- Hidden Power [Dark]
- Protect
- Toxic

Endeavor aimed at a lvl 100 from a level 1 will refill your health completely via Shed Shell so Sturdy reactivates, while Hidden Power Dark is there to take away that last 1%.

Grumpig @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic
- Counter
- Focus Blast

Gluttony + Sitrus Berry refills your HP when you need, while maximum Defense investment + Counter will let Grumpig score a surprise KO on physical attackers.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-542494069

Crustle @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shell Smash
- Rock Wrecker
- Earthquake / X-Scissor
- Counter

Lum to absorb burns; SS to power up; STAB 150 BP Rock move after SS has been used; EQ or X-Scissor for coverage; Sturdy to let Counter work against non-Mold Breaker Pokemon or to get a SS in more consistently.

Magnemite @ Eviolite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Thunder / Zap Cannon
- Mirror Shot
- Toxic
- Magic Coat / Hidden Power [Ground]

Ghetto, but fantastic when it works. This speed-ties with Adamant Golem. Zap Cannon is obviously horrible, but it paralyzes the foe, while Mirror Shot has a 30% chance to lower accuracy and hax them further (you'd be using Flash over Mirror Shot with F.E.A.R. if Flash were legal here). Sturdy, Toxic, and Magic Coat ruin a lot of 1v1 strategies (especially Disable- and Sleep-based ones), while HP Ground hits Electric-types like Raichu and Zebstrika that would otherwise wall you.

Unfortunately, I had a 80% chance to land Head Smash if I had not misclicked, but whatever. GG's Akir!

EDIT: http://pastebin.com/6xShb2MX
Akir literally counter-teamed me. Lol. Just Kidding. Need a crit to win game 1.
Maybe I shouldn't have posted about Relicanth until after my matches with Akir. I'll add it to my notes.
