approved by myself because I am an NU mod, fuck Eternally

With another installment of NUPL approaching the final stages, I'd like to invite everyone to share any interesting teams and / or sets they felt comfortable sharing from their games. Not only does this practice help to capture the state of the metagames played this year, but offers the community insight on the tournament scene bred from them. Any insight that can be offered would be greatly appreciated, so go wild!

I built new shit for DPP every game, except for one week where I stole an old Honko team. But nothing I built was too unusual other than my rain team against crayon pop. It's worth noting that when I played 49 in week 7, he told me to bring something cool but not the parasect because he didn't want to lose to it.

The man, the myth, the legend:
Parasect @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Atk / 72 Def
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break

decent mon for DPP NU rain, since you can struggle with assorted bulky waters, bulky grasses, and electrics. This guy beats all of them and Spores switch ins. Brick Break is mostly in case you face the rare sub Magneton since it would otherwise be very bad for the parasect switch in.

My last on the rain team, which I never revealed was this guy:
Tauros @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Payback
- Rain Dance

Tauros doesn't particularly need its 4th move a lot of the time, so why not use it as another fast rain setter?

Skuntank @ Damp Rock
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 24 HP / 248 Atk / 68 Def / 24 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Explosion

Finally, here's a nice setter that takes advantage of Slowking, Gardevoir (which can Trace my swift swimmers), and also provides Rain Dance and Boom together to get out of there. Bizarre ev spread reminiscent of ADV gengar spreads lol. Not going to pretend I remember all these benchmarks!

At this point, may as well just post full team:
Electrode @ Damp Rock
Ability: Static
EVs: 220 Atk / 100 SpA / 188 Spe
Naive Nature
- Rain Dance
- Taunt
- Thunder
- Explosion

Floatzel @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Aqua Tail
- Return
- Crunch
- Ice Punch

Relicanth @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Head Smash
- Aqua Tail
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish

Parasect @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Atk / 72 Def
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break

Tauros @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Payback
- Rain Dance

Skuntank @ Damp Rock
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 24 HP / 248 Atk / 68 Def / 24 SpD / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Explosion

Also since I liked this set and everyone seems to have their own version of a set-up sweeper Cradily these days, here's the one I used against fatty.
Cradily @ Leftovers
Ability: Suction Cups
EVs: 252 HP / 116 Def / 140 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Rest
- Rock Slide
- Seed Bomb

I also built or helped build most of the ADV teams but only made one serious innovation - this wallbreaker extraordinaire:
Wailord @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Veil
EVs: 252 SpA / 136 SpD / 120 Spe
Mild Nature
- Surf
- Ice Beam / Hidden Power Electric
- Water Spout
- Self-Destruct

Oscar (Aggron) @ Hard Stone
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Magnet Rise

Luck (Charizard) @ Power Herb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Solar Beam
- Fire Blast
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost

Chill Shadow (Skuntank) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Acid Spray
- Defog
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
- Moonblast

Zebstrika @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Gourgeist-Super @ Leftovers
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Synthesis
- Leech Seed
- Foul Play
- Will-O-Wisp

My favourite, and probably best team that I made this nupl. Didn't end up getting the win due to me being bad but I had a lot of success with it in practice. Sub rise aggron is a really fun set that I stole from Rapture and power herb beam zard is a cool lure that was inspired by Luck O' the Irish , honestly though even just roost + wisp zard destroys some teams by itself. Skunk is a consistent defogger, clef is a decent rocker that can tank special hits, and gourgeist can take on most physical attackers in the tier, and those it can't are usually covered by skunk. Zeb is a mon that I feel is a bit underrated as it sits in an excellent speed tier and hits decently hard with lorb while providing either a grass or elec immunity, it fits well here as the team was a bit slow without it and an elec immune is always nice.

Wailord @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Def / 248 SpD / 8 Spe

Dusclops @ Eviolite

chill shadow (Articuno) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 124 SpD / 136 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Roost
- Freeze-Dry
- Protect

Garbodor @ Leftovers
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Toxic Spikes
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch

Xatu @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- U-turn
- Roost
- Protect
- Psychic

Ditto @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Imposter
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Transform

This team was heavily inspired by an old Luck O' the Irish team. Like the previous one it didn't end up winning, but I do think that it's a very competitive team and like the above one it did very well outside of the actual game. Wailord, clops and articuno form the pressure trio. If any of these get an opportunity to so set up it can be pretty difficult to stop them due to their bulk and of course broken ability pressure. Garbodor is there for setting up and absorbing tspikes that may get set up as well as just being a blanket physical check for a lot of stuff and Xatu is the best spinner in the tier. Set up sweepers are the biggest threat to this team and so ditto rounds the team off to take advantage of them. Rocks are a bad move, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

spooky gost (Rotom) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball

Oscar (Torterra) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Chill Shadow (Skuntank) @ Choice Band
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch

Don't want to do a big description for this one but it's a fun team built around seviper using some of my favourite mons in rotom, tort, cb skunk and prinplup (and it won!).

okok so I made a decent SM team or 2 and a few ADV creations that might deserve sharing

ADV

I helped Plas w7, I'm kinda happy how it turned out, though its most certainly not perfect. idt he even played that game but oops

the idea is p basic, dig traps flareon and normal resists and stops weakened rose from spiking if u ever get into that situation, and also trap cacturne randomly at times, the spreads can be worked on, as u can probably throw on a lot more physdef onto rose thanks to wailord doing shit but then again u are probably fine either way. I think we ended up w different sets on some stuff, like I would have opted for sludgebomb hp psychic cause bello/tang is a threat (and snatching poisons naturally) and haunter looks like, not fun to deal w if it gets going, which is one of the reasons why I opted for protect chime on my version (but also helps scout kekleon and get a little recovery on chan), hp dark is for opposing chime and haunter aswell, and u can play around w that dig, hp bug does ok damage to chime, sludge is good for grasses and knocks out cacturne after a spike iirc, toxic does toxic things

ok im tryna waste time so I'm adding one I made w durza

we made one w screech bat and one w toxic bat, screech obviously taking advantage of spikes, toxic just being the superior 4th slot on bat for chime and what not, that abra is super cool, against venos, a few chans, helps w glalies and its a genuine offensive threat to anything w/o a sab p much, cool build though i think durza opted for smth different

SM

leru used this w6 and it just got used in semis by cdu with slight alterations, cm fairium diancie looked spicy, and i tried to resort to my usual balance stuff, w/o any memes, real teams for a change and all, av bro as a good meta pick at the time and now grass knot>zap cannon cause

neomon-Yesterday at 8:14 PM
zap cannnon bro users should be publicly executed

monkey because busted ass cat and speed control, aloslash acts as an ice resist and a normal resist ig also spins (I didnt opt for rocks spin because i wanted to toxic bros w only having grass knot on bro), tort as a sand countermeasure and helio and rocks, and (THE GOOD) bat to help w the stall mu (though you still lose that if you arent a robot) and toxicroak/gallade/ everything else it resists, like switching into whims occasionally and whatnot and sceptile aswell

also go look up some of the nicks on youtube, theres some good ass songs in here

now to what i used in my game w7, which I didnt really end up being as happy with as i should and could have been

another aloslash this time w rocks but still toxic, another bat, wishphox just looked super juicy, it fell from grace at some point, but i still think it has some great matchups, also making the team not lose to like, taunt icecream and even getting an occasional wish off believe it or not, you are probably better off w something else in that slot honestly. i wanted speed control and i needed another water resist idk, scarf helio just ended up making sense in my head, though its utter trash ngl, chople scrafty looked great, w being able to beat stuff like passimian and occasionally dding up against croak another time and stuff, really not too complicated. this ended up not having a z move, which is fine if you ask me, but the team loses to well played diancies, av slowbros if your oppo is competent enough, its just not a great team in general, but I didnt wanna bring smth super boring, which i shouldnt have thought at the time, it came to bite me in the ass in game i think

same week shuckleKING used a build of mine too, which looks like the first one p much, but w a specs bro and a pivot incin, the game went kinda unfortunate but i think the team was fine http://pokepast.es/dbb022f12053f223
initially had specs vapo>bro but specs vapo is just so insanely bad i cant even explain lol

thx again ras for actually getting me onto a team and go win this thing dons

ps. mushies u were great, idr if i already said that .3.

also bw nu review after nupl

☆Yui/Desert: this tier
☆Yui/Desert: is shit
☆Yui/Desert: LOL

Extremely annoying for fat shit that rely on mons like vaporeon to take on bulky waters.

Incineroar @ Groundium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Cool boost to ground coverage to nuke bulky SE targets like phys def diancie and opposing incineroar, but also donks guzzlord and hariyama p bad. Mightve been picked up on earlier already but feel like it still deserves a place in this thread.

Usually its needle arm and hp dark. Needle arm barely missed out on certain bulky water kills so i made it hp grass and feint attack. wow, innovated

I put in an insane amount of prep this NUPL because ADV NU is great. It was all just for a 4-3 (should've been 5-2 but nobody cares), so here's a bunch of shit I put a lot of time into because I don't want the effort to go to waste. Go play ADV NU please.

Used week 1 vs Disjunction. Very fun team on the standard side of things, I figured Vigoroth would be the way to go here but it never even came out due to a CM war. Nothing too crazy here, the Roselia EVs will pop up a lot and it's to live a Diglett CB EQ at 100%. Dewgong is the star of the show, if they don't have a Wailord it's just ridiculously hard to deal with. Fun game too, went for the CM war because I was sure I could win the game even if I lost it + being faster helped, but apparently some sets weren't what I expected on Disjunction's side so might've gotten hairy if no quick crit.

Used week 2 vs Askov. Made this last NUPL, Seadra lets you see what they've got (Wailord will normally get revealed here for example) and antileads quite interestingly, setting you up for Crawdaunt to do some work. It lies slightly on the gimmicky side, but Crawdaunt is strong as hell so yeah. Can't say much about the game either, I don't entirely get Askov's team but either way it was really Daunt weak and that's all that happened there.

Used week 3 vs Hikari. Probably the least sound team I brought overall, but I thought Grovyle had a lot of potential here. Ideally you get Spikes+2 booms and that eliminates a lot of what Grovyle struggles with, especially other grasses like Roselia. Unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing because I faced Metang+Shelgon and got bopped fairly solidly. Also, EXPLODING WAIL

EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 64 SpA
Brave Nature
- Fire Blast
- Rock Slide
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Used week 3 vs 49. Torkoal is overrated and not very good, I wanted to try a more physically based set because Fire Blast and HP Grass do plenty to what it needs to hit without investment and you get strong booms on bulky waters for Huntail + smack Flareon with Rock Slide. The fly spam was incidental, Tropius just checked a lot of what I needed although it turns out this team really doesn't like facing HP Ice Minun. Close game too, very glad I was Timid Huntail for the endgame (here it's because opposing Huntail can wreck this team otherwise).

Used week 5 vs Plas. It's just a fairly standard Wailord Spikes team built with some of my preferences, like how SubToxic Haunter is pretty cool. I actually made it week 1 before holding out, it was really just for when I wanted good old standard Wail stuff. In the game it was Leech Roselia instead of Toxic but afterwards I decided I didn't like needing to play around Bellossom so hard. Unfortunately the replay is a shit showcase because honestly the matchup was insanely in my favor without the early crit meaning I didn't have a Wailord. Ending grinds my gears too, but yeah I think without that the game would've just been a perfect showcase of why Wailord Spikes is really, really good.

Used week 6 vs Hogg. I really like this team, it's kinda mostly basic offense stuff but with things like Endure Salac Haunter, Toxic Scarf Rat, and Reflect Chime which are just some of my favorite things to use. Can't say much other than its fun. Unfortunately, I thought it'd be a great ct on what Hogg had been using most of the season, but he totally switched it up for our game and it turns out this team is far too troubled by phys def Pelipper+fat Bellossom. Did not see the changes coming at all and couldn't handle it so props to him on that one. Overall I stand by this build, but CB rat is definitely worth considering because of that if you prefer.

Used week 7 vs Kushalos and I never got to use the Flareon sigh. It's a cool set, still don't exactly know if it's great but absolutely worth trying imo, far from impossible to generate the free turn to pass in my experience and then White Herb Raticate... yeah this was a weird one. It's also the only Flareon I used this tour somehow?? You can also pass to Hitmonchan and Mawile is there as a secondary BPer, ideally with SD to Chan breaking and Curse to Raticate sweeping with fat Bellossom+Chime for support, but passing what to who depends on the matchup. Was very impressed when Torkoal's Fire Blast did <50%, was even more impressed with Protect+HP Ice Chimecho with Toxic support doing an immense amount of work. Hesitated posting this when nobody outside of my team had seen the epic amazingness that is White Herb Raticate, but I posted everything else so enjoy.

s/o Raseri for picking me up again and the entire rest of the team for dealing with my constant spamming for tests. Glad I went positive this time and should've had a 5-2 so overall pretty happy, wish we were luckier and made it into playoffs but really can't complain about this NUPL. ADV NU is great, go play it.

Wanted to have a team with OTR Aromatisse during Venusaur metagame as I feel like a lot of people only used Venusaur (or Golbat) as Fairy answers on more offensive builds and this set could exploit that easily. The game went well, even if not entirely according to plan at all parts, thanks to Elodin's intelligent play. This is not my favorite all-around build, but there are some elements that I really enjoyed at this time (week 1) and I think something similar can work, perhaps with a bit more support, now.

Aromatisse @ Fairium Z
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Trick Room
- Nasty Plot
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Psychic

Not exactly my innovation by any means, but probably the only truly viable Aromtisse set and it's quite underrated, imo. With Steel types surging, HP Fire is now a bit better than Psychic probably (esp. w/ Venusaur banned), but regardless this set goes in with Spikes or other passive damage supporting it in the early-mid stages. Z-Moonblast is quite strong and the natural bulk of Aromatisse is perfect for a bulky win condition like this, I feel. Would like to see others try to use this in the current metagame.

The idea was mainly to have a means of counter-acting the typical Goomy nonsense (no offense in saying this, but it's just what I mean for non-conventional stuff that sometimes may not be optimal, but more fun) by having Sand + Stoutland, but it turned out to be a bit dicey overall as the build grew a tad awkward with both Rocks as I feel with only 1 Sand Rusher, you prefer CB Gigalith to lure and break for the Sand Rusher and an alternative Stealth Rocker (especially since one abuser does not appreciate Smooth Rock turns as much as two or three). I was itching to use Diancie, too, since I think it's almost too good not to use on some teams and I think I forced it a bit here, which made the team a bit clunky and I got bailed heavy in the game when Goomy brought some really unexpected and unprepared for cheesy stuff.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-376372 - http://pokepast.es/447d8fc19e619579

Kinda just liked this combination of Pokemon as it covered most things defensively while also aiming to overload the opposing team with an onslaught of special attacking threats. Special Samurott is underrated and more viable than people think, but still not absolutely fantastic like it was back in generation five, even into generation six -- it should see more usage regardless. Game did not go entirely to-plan as Eternally played well and had a good team with Zangoose that won, but Pohjis gave it one hell of an attempt until the Zangoose got off a Belly Drum (sorry for the weakness man, my bad).

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-376636 - http://pokepast.es/fb90920c30ea757f

Concept was Sub Toxic Protect Delphox + Klinklang, pretty much. It's a cool core, but perhaps a bit more idealistic than practical. The team itself may also be better with AV Slowbro + something over Guzzlord, but I had a Guzzlord boner at this point, so it turned out this way. Regardless, it's a sound team this way, but it could be improved and I think the concept may be workable, but from various other approaches. I wish it worked here because the week was close, but sadly the team did not end up doing too well. Sadly, this game devolved into nonsense because I played a bit needlessly risky and also got outmaneuvered in the early stages, but the Slowbro pulled through after I got the approximately 50/50 Pursuit roll on the Incineroar on the weighted 50/50 to lead up to that.

Delphox @ Leftovers
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 8 HP / 244 SpA / 56 SpD / 200 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

This is the Delphox set I alluded to and I just wanted to spotlight it a bit -- it's my favorite Delphox rn, perhaps alongside Bloom Doom. Regardless, this set has a lot of applications that have been overlooked and I think it pairs well with a lot of physical attackers (Passimian, Klinklang, sand abusers, Medicham, Toxicroak, Gallade) as it can wear out Slowbro and common Rock types (Rhydon, Gigalith, etc.) over time. Also, Protect + Substitute + Toxic in general is so hard for teams to play around if they don't have one of a small pool of things, so keep that in mind, too.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-375699 - http://pokepast.es/da17a8070d2cf969 (this bro straight up beats 2/3 of teams btw)

My favorite team at the time and still one that I generally enjoy -- this is as close to a masterpiece as any team of mine will get. I wanted to use it against TDK because he's one of the better players and I feel the style would catch people like Rozes off-guard when preparing for me. It is a bulkier team that employs less common Pokemon like Altaria and Weezing and it pretty much revolves solely around Slowbro as a win-condition. It does lose to opposing stall teams with an unaware Pokemon that doesn't get PP stalled or crippled, but otherwise it has done a fantastic job against metagame trends -- it should beat pretty much every Sand team and if you don't play too passive then you can effectively cockblock a lot of offensive structures.

Slowbro @ Waterium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 232 Def / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Rest

I think more people should try to build around Slowbro as a win condition when they get a chance. It is obviously fantastic as a non-passive defensive pivot on balance and even offense, but this approach is surprisingly consistent. This set does great because so many teams rely upon status or less durable offensive Pokemon to shut-down Slowbro from having any longevity/ability to stay in for a prolonged period of time. With hazards, Pursuit, and specific means of wearing things out such as my team, things such as SD Incineroar, Whimsicott, Sceptile, Heliolisk, etc. that threaten Slowbro offensively can often get weakened or eliminated. With Rest, things such as opposing Toxic Slowbro, Silvally-Steel, Gigalith, Xatu, etc. can not pose a threat to Slowbro as you can rest if off after boosting and not much can break through you without critical hits or super effective physical moves.

Earthquake!

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-377697 - http://pokepast.es/9d52c09e47725aa8

Pretty standard offense with a Specs Rotom thrown on for good measure. Really liked this against the type of teams these dudes frequented, especially Guzzlord + Toxicroak because they compliment each other so well and are very likely to claim at least one kill each game. This team just is standardish offense with a lot of synergy -- nothing more to it.

Never got to play SM with Tricking, but if I did then I was going to use this -- http://pokepast.es/0c3c4e06cf9cc69f

Another fat team with the Slowbro set I outlined above because this was kinda my favorite archetype for a week or two in the middle of the season. I think it still has a lot of potential and I hope others give it a try, but yea here is another example team like that. Scrafty is also a win condition here which is similarly durable and hard to stop in the long-game w/ certain offenses, which is cool.

Finally, another team around that Slowbro set that had Mega-Audino, which I feel has fallen out of the spotlight in recent months, but is still ridiculously underrated -- http://pokepast.es/0963b72151ff5b42

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-378834 - http://pokepast.es/df18f76b4772796a

Simple team here -- two fighters + defensive backbone. I liked TPunch LO Medicham here because FLCL uses a lot of Slowbro + Xatu builds and while those are normally very much prepared for Fighting types, I felt with some lures and lasting potential paired with Spikes and the ability to overwhelm with two fighters, letting you be reckless with Medicham early to set up for Passimian later (or vice versa), the team was a good pick. Elodin played this game fantastically, too!

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-378837 - http://pokepast.es/7abc930f5d43db03

Felt like deviating from the norm and trying a lure oriented Diancie set as opposed to the normal defensive Stealth Rock or Choice Specs variants. The set is fine, but the team itself has a few issues. It seemed sound on the surface, but it doesn't flow too well and I think it relies a lot on 2-3 Pokemon defensively that can be out-momentumed or overwhelmed, so it did not work out as planned throughout the course of this game. Still a cool concept that I hope to expand upon even more moving forward.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-379268 - http://pokepast.es/5d7a8c367587bb7d

Vikavolt is really neat and this is a pretty generic team with it and Sceptile in attempt to catch teams without a dedicated special wall off-guard or simply overwhelm that. It's one of I have not appreciated fully, but really do like and hope to use in the future more, perhaps with some edits.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-378726 - http://pokepast.es/4ccda77a9f3eb3ab

Potent team with the Dragon core. It overwhelms a lot of the things that are common in the metagame. This match doesn't show much because it got cut-off from being quality earlier on and then turned into a kill-for-kill type of game where he came out on top ultimately because of his early advantage. Regardless, I really like teams like this that stack such potent and even unexpected things to take advantage of metagame norms and I think they succeed at an exceedingly high rate.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-380272 - http://pokepast.es/c4cb819033c4c926

One of my more boring builds that revolves around a dual specs core that has an otherwise standard outlook and faced a monotype team fsr -- shrug.

Didn't play Leru because dumb shit, but I was going to use this -- http://pokepast.es/edbb3d0da2da6ab6

Cool Clawitzer set/concept Kushalos came up with that I wanted to try out for myself, but never got to in an actual game (it did quite well in tests, however, and I would advise using something similar to those interested in the Clawitzer themselves).

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-382009 - http://pokepast.es/9095cb3485cfe4f1

Idea is that you use the Sneasel set with Ferroseed as you lure Xatu perfectly -- you always Pursuit turn 1 and if they Roost or Protect, then you Knock turn 2 as they expect you to be locked in (and if they switch, then it's a done deal usually, so yea). Non-choiced Sneasel is actually quite good and I hope more people flirt with it moving forward. Rest of the team is pretty standard, but I liked fighting Frog+Monkey vs Hootie's generic stuff, so they became my offensive fillers after some thought here.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-384253 - http://pokepast.es/bdb45f88e6601a31

Really untested team, but Elodin wanted to use Zangoose and I wanted to give him a chance to do so -- came up with this. Not sure if I would advise this to others, but the overall idea can work if perfected a bit. This shit can really be potent, anyway.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-383609 - http://pokepast.es/daa656915018361e

Pretty much full-on stall that's solid and can probably be used to farm wins for whoever is interested depending upon opponent/match-up.

http://pokepast.es/37c03a73353ae4a1 -- This is my other stall, too, for those interested. It never got used, but I made it at the same time as the one above and considered it myself before deciding that stalling Mr. Click x3 Dundies would not be the smartest idea at the time.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-384404 - http://pokepast.es/909e27baf7193cbd

Kory wanted to use Vikavolt against Cdumas, so I made another team with it. Varied the defensive fillers to fit team needs a bit and it came out kinda of interesting, actually. I like Vikavolt a lot right now and I think it is viable on more team structures than one may think given that it is pretty slow and SR weak.

http://pokepast.es/a82eff38dc7feecf -- This is my other Vikavolt build I made for this match-up and I think it is quite solid, too, but I personally preferred the former and Kory seemed to, too. Either way, this one is similar and just had a different defensive backbone and offensive fillers given what the defensive backbone leaves the team vulnerable to -- nothing special.

http://pokepast.es/89378037942936d6 -- I personally liked this Gallade a lot against this entire team, but specifically Cdumas. This is a build I really enjoyed in testing afterwards and built in the moment, kinda hoping it would get used. Never got the chance, but I am sold on this team and think it is quite good -- will be even better and more consistent if Gigalith gets banned, too.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7nu-383176 - http://pokepast.es/2ac4b3ba34f0e660

Just wanted to use the first two offensively with Healing Wish support and came out with this. It's pretty up-to-date in terms of threat coverage and I think it's solid overall, but it can be awkward vs certain defensive cores with a specific hard wall to slow the game down or even vs overwhelming opposing offenses, too.

Unused Sand team I made with CB Gigalith that is meant to overwhelm things for Stoutland or Klinklang to clean things out later on -- http://pokepast.es/e1b4dc88b1c92a22

Vanilluxe set I really wanted to use vs Teddeh's team that developed into this full team, which I find to be pretty cool atm -- http://pokepast.es/9b54fdc31981af96

Second team that I considered for Dundies that I ultimately decided against because it felt kinda bland and I just was not feeling Medicham at the time -- http://pokepast.es/1ce50159c0207fdb

Perhaps I will post later with BW stuff, but I don't have enough ORAS stuff to be worthwhile to post and some of the BW stuff is my old teams from 2-3 years ago, so I will determine if it is worthwhile later.

Posting my stuff from oras. Built my own teams and oras for tricking so got to make a decent amount of squads.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-374645

wanted to go with something safe versus earthie and I never use fat so figured I would come with stall week 1. The team in itself is nothing too crazy, just tries to whittle down the opposing team with tspikes + skunk in order to pave the way for a curse sweep with quag. Despite some early game luck, this ended up being my favorite game this season because of how close it was.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-373513

My take on standard rain. Easy to use and I figured it would match up well versus rozes's typical oras builds. Plays just like your typical weather offense so not gonna go too deep into pokemon choice. NP + Taunt missy is a really fun set on this squad for both weakening the opponents team, and making it easier to block hazard removal via defog.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-376068

For my week 2 game i decided to build around a very underrated set in sub + magnet rise Aggron, reason being that this set took advantage of ren-chon's most popular normal checks such as Rhydon and proceeded to set up on them. Golurk pairs well as a rocker while Mesprit gives me a form of speed control while still retaining a decent amount of power. Vileplume and Lanturn make a standard defensive backbone and Tauros usually is the late game cleaner. Should've won this game but still ended up really happy with how the team turned out.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-376450

Made an Abomasnow squad for tricking since I typically don't use it often but figured it can be deadly with plenty of u-turn support. This team also makes pretty good use of copycat Liepard, which is imo, a pretty strong option on liepard. A naive nature on the cat lets you copy special attacks as well ;) Rest of the team is fairly standard so wont go into very much detail. Tricking ended up getting a good match up and copycat made short work of Hootie's barbaracle, so overall good week.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-377344

A team based around a classic, sub toxic Mantine. It had good matchups versus the water types finch likes to use in oras while still keeping a good amount of offensive power. Decided to go with rotom-frost over the ghost in order to not stack too many weaknesses with Xatu. Not a particularly creative team but it got the job done.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-384911

was meaning to make something with Articuno since it's regained popularity in the tier, ended up in this since tricking felt like stalling flcl. more or less plays like the first team but imo this team is better than my first attempt at stall. Sort of weak to strong fires like Magmortar but that didnt end up mattering too much in game.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen6nu-385232

Got to show off some cool stuff in my playoffs game, the team as a whole is based around hazard stack, one of nu's most broken strats. Garbodor and Steelix obviously are my hazard setters of choice, while a cool tech in magic coat Gourgeist can punish players that are overzealous in setting up their own hazards. Guts over thick fat on yama to have some way to punish status. In the end didn't get to position the geist set to be effective in game but managed to clutch it out regardless.

a bit disappointed to lose in playoffs but proud of my team for getting that far ofc. shoutout to my teammates and friends on other teams for testing with me n_n Next year we GO AGANE

im probably missing a few builds i put together that ended up being used, but i believe this is the majority of them. really liked our team even if we didnt end up winning it all. quite honestly a few of these builds arent that great (did i really put an assault vest on kabu / golurk), but i do think the team structures are pretty nice overall. my nu builds are however getting a bit repetitive so high chance you wont see me slotted there for snake, so good luck to whoever plays n_n
