With 3/4 votes, erisia is this week's winner! Congrats :)

The next Pokemon to find a match for is...

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off

Gurdurr recently was dropped back down into NU and has definitely become a front runner thanks to its ability to absorb status and access to STAB priority. That being said, it is still fairly slow in a more offensive metagame.

Submissions end Friday.

Skuntank @ Lum Berry
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 232 Atk / 130 SpD / 148 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Taunt

since gurdurr is pretty weak to colbur mesprit/musharna/xatu, trapper skuntank w/ crunch basically gets rid of all of those.

Steelix @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 92HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Tail / Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Crunch / Stone Edge / Thunder Fang
- Stealth Rock

Gurdurr needs something to deal with stuff like Garbodor, Scyther, Mega Audino. Psychic types also form a problem for Gurdurr. I decided to go with Offensive Steelix because I think it's a very underrated set and I have a lot of fun using AND it deals with the issues I mentioned. Steelix resists any hit that is super effective on Gurdurr being Flying and Psychic. Gurdurr also helps out Steelix by switching on a Wisp.

252+ Atk Life Orb Steelix Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Garbodor: 312-369 (85.7 - 101.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Steelix Iron Tail vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Scyther: 183-216 (53.3 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Steelix Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Scyther: 380-447 (110.7 - 130.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Steelix Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Audino: 221-265 (53.9 - 64.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Steelix Thunder Fang vs. 248 HP / 220+ Def Pelipper: 291-348 (90 - 107.7%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

Shiftry @ Life Orb
Naughty Nature
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Ability: Chlorophyll
- Knock Off
- Leaf Storm
- Sucker Punch
- Explosion

Explosion Shiftry is a pretty cool partner for Gurdurr as it lures in most Poison-types and can chunk Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and Clefairy with the move if need be. It also provides some Speed control and is just a good wallbreaker in general. It can also remove Colbur Berries from things before Gurdurr begins its sweep.

With a measly two votes, Earth takes the win! Congratulations.

This week, I decided to go with a Pokemon that is more defensive in nature.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake / Earth Power
- Recover
- Toxic / Clear Smog

Gastrodon is a really effective glue for most balanced teams as it can check quite a lot of threats and has access to reliable recovery.

Submissions end Friday.

Magmortar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Earthquake

gastrodon covers the water- and ground-type weaknesses of magmortar, specially and physically (thanks to clear smog), while magmortar can help it against stuff like lilligant, freeze dry etc.

Articuno @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Freeze-Dry
- Substitute
- Roost

Articuno has nice synergy with Gastrodon as it beats all the Grass types in NU while resisting Grass moves aswell. Gastrodon helps out Cuno by dealing with Rock, Steel and Fire types and providing an Electric immunity to top it all off.

NU Leader

Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Acrobatics
- Earth Power
- Stone Edge
- Roost

Archeops offensively checks Grass-, Fire-, and Ice-types while being a very tough pokemon to switch into in general, Gastrodon gives Archeops safety from Scarf Rotom, speed ties with Tauros, Floatzel, and breaks bulky Rock- and Ground-types such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Regirock.

PrinceLucian

Banned deucer.

Skuntank @ Black Sludge
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 SpA / 108 SpD / 148 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Acid Spray
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Defog

-Pairs great with gastrodon, takes on grass and poison types defensively, and since gastrodon likes bulkier builds, absorbing toxic spikes and defog support is pretty good. Acid spray is my favourite on defog skuntank, with black sludge as passive recovery to give it longevity.

Sliggoo @ Eviolite
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Outrage
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

As far as gastrodon's strengths are concerned, its main purpose imo is and has always been the world's most obnoxious staller. Alright, maybe thats unfair (bronzgod). The only thing that absolutely destroys a perfectly wonderful gastrodon tends to be a grass move, usually performed by an hp grass magmortar from my experience. How better to counter a grass type attacker than with a sap sipper? Step 1) gastrodon toxic. Step 2) Switch out to sliggoo to absorb grass attack. Step 3) Curse Step 4) Stall like crazy. Nothing beats this dream team of stallers...except freeze dry, but lets be honest, since when has freeze dry been a huge part of the NU Meta?

Calculations:
Sliggoo+Gastrodon stall team> ANYTHING...Only calc i need
