Overview
Mimikyu is a noteworthy Pokemon in Mix and Mega thanks to its unique typing and good speed tier following Mega Evolving, which lets it act as a check to Pokemon such as Terrakion, Gengar, and Arceus-Ghost. The fact that it can easily set up a Swords Dance on any attacker thanks to Disguise aids Mimikyu's ability to sweep and makes it a fantastic late-game cleaner, as its threats are usually weakened by this time. Some of Mimikyu's most common checks, such as Primal Groudon and Magearna, lack reliable recovery, which makes them easy to wear down for a late-game Mimikyu sweep, however Mimikyu can struggle to break walls as it is fairly weak, even at +2 Attack. In particular, Mimikyu struggles with Steel-types that resist Play Rough and can generally take one or two hits from a boosted Shadow Claw, while retaliating with a super effective STAB attack. It is also prone to revenge killing as it is relatively frail. Its coverage is limited to solely it's STAB attacks, however they do offer decent coverage against the majority of the metagame. Mimikyu is extremely one-dimensional as it only really has one good set, making it very predictable from team preview. A fairly good Speed stat does allow Mimikyu to function as revenge killer, however, and gives it a niche in the fast paced Mix and Mega metagame.

Moves
Swords Dance boosts Mimikyu's mediocre attack to decent levels and allows it to take advantage of Disguise. Play Rough is a strong STAB that hits Pokemon such as Terrakion and Zygarde for super effective damage and is Mimikyu's main attack. Shadow Claw is Mimikyu's most powerful Ghost-type STAB, hits Arceus-Ghost for super effective damage, and hits Pokemon that resist Play Rough, such as Primal Groudon and Magearna, for neutral damage. Shadow Sneak is another STAB attack that offers priority so Mimikyu can finish off weakened Pokemon.
Set Details
Maximum Attack is used to hit as hard as possible while maximum Speed and a Jolly nature are used to be as fast as possible, specifically outspeeding Arceus, Terrakion, Tapu Lele, and Gengar. Disguise is a fantastic pre-Mega ability allowing Mimikyu to generally get off a free Swords Dance or revenge kill boosted threats. Metagrossite offers Mimikyu an amazing +40 increase in Speed as well as Tough Claws, which boosts the power of every attacking move on Mimikyu's set.
Usage Tips
Mimikyu should be brought in on an attacker late-game, after checks have been removed, to set up a Swords Dance and clean. Never switch Mimikyu in directly in order to preserve Disguise. Mimikyu can also be used as an emergency check to a threat, such as Weavile or a boosted attacker, in the mid-game thanks to Disguise. Generally wait until after Disguise is broken to Mega evolve, unless the extra power granted by Metagrossite is needed or you predict a Roar from Primal Groudon. Keeping Stealth Rock on the opposing side of the field is necessary to wear down Mimikyu's checks and counters, such as Weavile and Shaymin-S, and aid Mimikyu's sweep.
Team Options
Primal Groudon and Terrakion can take on the Steel-types that Mimikyu loathes while setting up Stealth Rock to help it sweep. Both can also act as wallbreakers, which also eases Mimikyu's sweep. Wallbreakers such as Xurkitree, Tapu Lele, and Kartana help Mimikyu's sweep by weakening or removing bulky foes. Zapdos acts as a useful pivot that can get Mimikyu in safely while also checking Steel-types, Shaymin-S, and -ate users. Fast attackers or strong priority users such as Tapu Koko, Deoxys-S, Shaymin-S, and Genesect can remove the fast threats that can revenge kill Mimikyu. Primal Groudon checks such as Golisopod and Arceus-Ground can wear down this check to Mimikyu. Pokemon such as Magearna, Arceus-Water, and Vaporeon can take on Weavile for Mimikyu. Other -ate checks, such as Arceus-Rock and Tapu Lele can take on Mimikyu's revenge killers.

Other Options
Destiny Bond can be used to take advantage of Mimikyu's frailty to take down a slower Pokemon that would normally believe it can safely counter Mimikyu, such as Magearna. Substitute can be used to set up on checks that rely upon status to defeat it, such as Blissey. Mimikyu can use Will-O-Wisp to cripple a threatening physical attacker reliably when combined with Disguise, which can be extremely beneficial to its team. This can be used over Shadow Sneak, which allows Mimikyu to still set up later, or over Swords Dance, turning Mimikyu into a pure revenge killer.
Checks and Counters
Steel-types: Steel-types such as Skarmory, Magearna, Cobalion, and Kartana resist Play Rough and are bulky enough to take a boosted Shadow Claw before using it as bait to set up hazards before phazing it, KOing with their super effective STAB, or using Mimikyu as set up bait.
Walls: While Mimikyu can bypass a few walls, such as Cresselia and Arceus-Ghost, by virtue of its typing, other bulky walls such as Blissey, Primal Groudon, Skarmory, and most Arceus formes take very little from Mimikyu's attacks, and can defeat Mimikyu with status, phazing, or by straight up attacking it.
Revenge Killers: After Disguise is broken, faster attackers such as Manaphy, Tapu Koko, and Shaymin-S can outspeed and KO Mimikyu with their strong attacks. Priority users such as Genesect and Weavile are also able to handle Mimikyu after Disguise is broken. Choice Scarf users such as Xerneas and Tapu Lele can also outspeed and KO Mimikyu. Even with Disguise intact, Mimikyu can struggle to deal with these Pokemon, as its unboosted attacks are not very powerful.
Status: Mimikyu despises all forms of status, as all of them cripple it and they can also hit through Disguise. Burns halve Mimikyu's already mediocre Attack, rendering it basically worthless. Paralysis halves Mimikyu's Speed, making it rely upon the weak Shadow Sneak to hit first and allowing slower Pokemon to revenge kill it. Poison can wear Mimikyu down, particularly as it struggles to nab OHKOs against Pokemon that aren't hit for super effective damage by its STAB attacks.
