[OVERVIEW]

  • Thanks to Komala's ability Comatose, it is able to ignore status, and easily switch into, and set up on many passive enemy Pokemon.
  • Swords Dance, a high Attack stat, and a very expansive movepool allows Komala to threaten any Pokemon it outspeeds.
  • A lacking Speed stat means Komala relies on Sucker Punch to damage anything faster than it.
  • A horrible Defense stat means that Komala is easily forced out by any physical attacker.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Swords Dance allows Komala to boost its attack to high levels, allowing it to KO enemy pokemon such as Slowbro and Regirock with a Z-Wood Hammer, as well as boosting Return's power.
  • Return is Komala's primary STAB move, with high power, and no drawbacks, making it very safe to use.
  • Wood Hammer allows Komala to easily hit enemy pokemon such as Slowbro, Rhydon, and Pyukumuku for Super-Effective damage, easily KOing them with Swords Dance.
  • Earthquake allows Komala to hit Steelix for Super-Effective damage, as well as retaining coverage vs. Rhydon, but the lack of a Super-Effective hit vs. Slowbro can mean that Komala has a harder time wallbreaking.
  • Sucker Punch allows Komala to bypass its low speed stat, and hit pokemon such as Mismagius, Delphox, and Sceptile before they can hit it back.

Set Details
========

  • Max attack and an Adamant Nature allows Komala to have a chance of KOing Sceptile after Stealth Rock and a Swords Dance with Sucker Punch, as well as maximizing its damage output.
  • Maximum Speed allows Komala to speed tie with Emboar and outspeed Machamp, dealing heavy damage in return, as well as allowing it to outspeed many of the tier's walls such as Garbodor.
  • Grassium-Z allows Komala to power up its Wood Hammer, allowing it to get a guaranteed OHKO on Slowbro and Regirock, as well as dealing 75% max vs. Steelix.
  • Comatose allows Komala to be completely immune to status, allowing it to easily switch in on predicted Toxics, and low powered Scalds from pokemon such as Seismitoad.

Usage Tips
========
  • Komala excels vs slower teams, as it is able to come in on many of the Will-o-Wisps and Toxics that they often use to secure wins.
  • Komala should be switched into any predicted status move, taking nothing from any of them, and easily gaining a setup opportunity.
  • Swords Dance should be set up vs. passive enemies that rely on status such as Vaporeon, Seismitoad or Uxie.
  • Thanks to its mediocre physical bulk, Komala should not be kept in against virtually anything that can hit it from the physical side such as Rhydon or Steelix if it hasn't set up.

Team Options
========

  • This set excels on teams that need a way to beat balance or stall, with the ability to easily switch in on, and set up on many of the passive walls these teams often use.
  • Physically bulky pivots like Slowbro and Seismitoad appreciate Komala's Toxic immunity, and taking physical hits for Komala.
  • Druddigon provides Stealth Rock for Komala, and easily wears down Emboar for Komala, which is otherwise incredibly difficult for Komala to deal with, taking little from Sucker Punch.
  • Fighting types appreciate Komala switching into, and setting up on Ghost types, and luring in Slowbro, while wearing down the enemy team for Komala.
[SET]

Moves
========

  • Return is Komala's primary STAB move, dealing high damage without any recoil, allowing Komala to OHKO frail enemy targets such as Houndoom.
  • Earthquake allows Komala to deal super-effective damage to Steelix and Garbodor, which resist Return, and punish Return with Rocky Helmet recoil respectively.
  • Rapid Spin allows Komala to support its team by removing enemy hazards.
  • Shadow Claw allows Komala to hit enemy Ghosts for Super Effective damage, heavily damaging Mismagius and Froslass, and preventing them from blocking its Rapid Spin.
  • U-turn allows Komala to leverage its slow speed to provide a risk free switch in for one of its teammates, and allows it to escape potentially harmful matchups.
Set Details
========

  • Max HP and and Assault Vest allows Komala to avoid an OHKO from and enemy Mismagius's +2 Z-Dazzling Gleam, as well as taking little from many enemy special attackers.
  • 80 Speed Evs allow Komala to outspeed enemy Seismitoad.
  • An Adamant nature and the remaining Evs placed into Attack allow Komala to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========
  • Thanks to an Assault Vest, Komala's Normal typing, and immunity to Will-o-wisp thanks to Comatose, Komala is easily able to switch into, and force out many of the Ghost types in NU, and easily get a Rapid Spin off.
  • Komala can be pivoted into many unboosted special attacks thanks to its usable Special bulk and Assault Vest.
  • Thanks to Comatose, Komala can act as a status absorber for its team, absorbing Toxic from enemy pokemon such as Seismitoad, or Will-o-Wips from enemy Rotom.
  • Thanks to Comatose, Komala is immune to Toxic Spikes, which allows it to easily remove them, without worrying about taking Toxic damage.
Team Options
========

  • Thanks to Komala's lacking special bulk, physically defensive Fighting resists such as Slowbro and Garbodor excel as teammates, with Slowbro appreciating the Toxic immunity that Komala provides.
  • Fighting types such as Hitmonlee and Emboar appreciate Komala switching into, and forcing out enemy Ghost types, and weaken the Steel and Rock types that wall Komala's Return.
  • Physically bulky pokemon such as Druddigon and Steelix appreciate Komala taking special attacks for them, while they can take on physical attackers for Komala.
  • Pokemon weak to entry hazards such as Scyther, Vanilluxe, and Vikavolt appreciate Komala's ability to clear the field for them. Vikavolt is worth a special mention, as it takes on many of the fighting types and physical attackers that plague Komala, and wears down enemy Steel and Rock types for it.

Other Options
=============

  • Choice band sets are usable, although Komala is often forced to lock itself into Sucker Punch, which makes Komala very exploitable.
  • Wish sets help Komala to sustain itself, but its pitiful hp, and the requirement to run Protect alongside Wish mean that these sets limit Komala too much.
  • Darkium-z along side Sucker Punch allows Komala to hit ghost types directly, instead of having to predict an attack.

Checks and Counters
===================
  • **Fighting types**: Pokemon such as Emboar and Virizion resist Sucker Punch, are often faster than Komala, and easily OHKO it in return, even threatening it with a possible Mach Punch.
  • **Faster Physical Attackers**: Pokemon such as Sneasel and Drapion can easily hit Komala on its lacking physical defense, often easily OHKOing it.
  • **Gourgeist**: Gourgeist takes very little from any of Komala's possible coverage options, while threatening it with Foul Play and Leech seed.

mention Darkinium Z in OO, it lets you handle ghosts way more reliably and still hits the slowbrothers

I kinda think a Rapid Spin set should be on here, but i don't have a lot of experience with Komala. I've only made one team with it. We can go without it for now, but mention the tspike immunity it gets when talking about rapid spin in OO
