First thing that came into my mind when i saw the secret ingredient was that I wanted to build Hyper Offense. Haxorus is a lowkey threat in this new meta. Nidoking can really pressure most rockers in the tier and can pressure a few hazard clearers like empoleon.

I built this team with haxorus being the main wincon. With moldbreaker and great coverage options in Earthquak and Poison Jab, once it gets to +1 its hard to stop. You're going to have to use a faster scarfer(hydreigon, infernape etc). I went with scizor with Swords Dance and Quick attack as with +2, Quick attack can hit infernape very hard which is one of the few stops to Haxorus. With Superpower is hits defensive rotom-wash extremely hard. I'm running jolly with max speed to outspeed defensive rotom-wash. Scarf infernape helps bring some speed to the team and can help to stop Z-HH Jirachi which is a huge issue for the meta. Primarina with specs hits incredibly hard and provides nice defensive utility with its typing. Being able to switch into hydreigon and weavile. I chose M-beedril as my mega as it's a nice hit and runner and gets plenty of opportunities to set up toxic spikes.

One issue wish this team is the lack of hazard removal. Magnet rise+twave klefki can be an issue for this team as my main answer for it is infernape which is crippled by t-wave and nidoking's earth power is negated by magnet rise.

The essential Idea of the team is to provide the most Offensive Bulk possible while fitting the criteria for not only this weeks Iron Chef, but last weeks UU-Core project. The Core itself provides very good coverage within itself, the addition of Haxorus gives the core a much needed damage output and sweep potential. Gliscor and Togekiss provide some overkill in terms of bulk/walling.

This is (literally at it's core) a very Bulky Offensive team with since spice added in thanks to DD Haxorus.

This is a shedinja semi stall team, shedinja is my fav mon so I love making teams around it. Obviously since this is a shedinja team, I need a lot of insurance when it comes to hazards, Nidoking, Togekiss, and Blastoise all make up that insurance. In my opinion, Mega Blastoise is my fav spinner by miles, just hard to fit into a team because it needs that mega stone and their are so many amazing megas in UU right now. I actually love this team and I put a lot more thought into it than the last one, even though it didnt take long to make at all. Even if I go 0-5 again, i'll be happy knowing I got to use this team haha, it seems like it'll be a fun one to use.

Iron Chef Team 2 is here: Of Gods and Monsters. This team revolves around letting either Infernape or Flygon clean up shop in the lategame. For the zest of the challenge, the monsters here are Mega Blastoise and Nidoking, the latter being a surprise SR setter. Having a Nidoking show up almost always forces switches, which allows for free rocks to go up ontop of the hard hitting Sheer Force boosted moves. The Scizor is rather standard, a decent swap in to the likes of Mega Gardevoir and Mega Altaria, while being able to sword dance up and boost past possible burns while remaining as alive as possible with Roost. Hydreigon's there to punch through holes, and Flash Cannon is a decent lure to punish possible fairies from coming in, while Dark Pulse is all the STAB it really needs to break things. Lum Berry Flygon, like Lum Metagross before it, can eat up a status move and freely boost up, before using its semi powerful attacks to break through a weakened team.

So this team was actually one of my all time favorites ive ever built. This is my first time truly building hazard stack, and I quite enjoyed it.

I started off with the core of mega sceptile + klefki. Mega sceptile and klefki have a great synergy together defensively, as well as support wise. Mega sceptile really likes chip damage on mons aswell as having certain mons like scarfers and mega aero and mega bee thunder waved. As for why mega sceptile is physical, that was a hard decision I made. Mega sceptile, when used with a physical set, is an incredibly good stallbreaker. With dragon claw it 2hkos mandibuzz after rocks at +2 and it ohkos mega aero with a +2 leaf blade if its paralyzed. I also decided to make mega sceptile adamant, this was after a realization that jolly mega sceptile really only outspeeds scarfed chandelure and speed ties with mega bee, which I didnt want to risk anyways. Another reason mega scep is physical is too really emphasize the fact that its a MONSTER. Monsters aernt meant to just come in and pick up a cheeky kill, monsters are meant to rip apart teams. Special mega sceptile just didnt fulfill this roll in my mind.

The next mon is nidoking, my next monster. When I think of UU monsters nidoking is one of the first that pops up because of its great power and insane coverage. I decided to take the coverage of dual stab + ice beam so I could deal with gliscor and still do enough damage to deal with a lot of bulkier mons through the great coverage of ground + poison. Going along with the theme of hazard stack, I figured nidoking would also be a quite good offensive rocker for this team, and so far it has fulfilled the roll well since it forces switches easily. Next we have offensive rotom-wash. offensive rotom provides a ground immunity for klefki and nido aswell as provides amazing offensive coverage. It also provides another thunder-waver, which once again helps my first monster, sceptile. Scarf infernape is next, and although this was originally put into place for zhh jirachi, it is still an amazing scarfer that provides a good voltturn core with rotom that can gain the momentum this team needs, while also forcing switches to rack up the hazard damage.

And finally, we have the girl! Mismagius has always been on my radar when it comes to hazard stack Ho. UU doesnt have many options for rapid spin blockers, besides chandelure. I knew I needed another ground answer, aswell as another mon that could help vs stall, as mega scep might not cut it vs certain teams. Now lets talk about the set. This set is pulled strait from NU, and for good reason! a mismagius at +2 throwing off a z-shadow ball does A LOT of damage. dazzling gleam is there to deal with dark types such as mandibuzz, crawduant, and specsdreigon. Mismagius also can be quite effective vs stall, which is why I have taunt on this set. Although blissey can 1v1 mismagius, if it gets lured by sceptile that mon is out of the way anyways, and mismagius can 1v1 blissey if its not running toxic.

The secret ingredient this time was a problem for me, since i don't usually use these mons, maybe exept for aggron sometimes. I tried to build around it but couldn't find a decent result so i tried anything else, not in my style. I decided to build on an offensive volturn core, along with Sceptile and Nidoking. Rotom is the first pokemon i choose, for his great sinergy with the aforementioned mons. I choose a standard spdef set, which sucks but i really have some troubles with hydreigon, latias and gardevoir. I can check everyone of them in other ways but this was a safer one tho. For the evs i'm running enough speed for scizor/crawdaunt. Then i added hydreigon to complete my volturn core. Im just running the common scarf set, not much i can say about it. I was really needing something for weavile at this point and i choose scizor to fix this huge weakness. The bulky sd one, in order to check weavile, altaria, mamoswine and other mons like latias occasionally(hp fire is cool on scarf/z move+defog tho, so you need to scout the set a bit :|). Also uturn is cool to keep the momentum. As last i put tentacruel as removal, tspikes setter and cobalion/scizor check. In general is a pretty standard volturn, with sceptile/nidoking as momentum abusers. As last thought, i wanna just say that im not really happy with this team, since usually i prefer bulkiest builds and this one doesn't really fit this my playstyle.

The UU Community (including Iron Chefs!) may now vote for two of the most favorite teams in terms of the three criteria: Creativity, Essence, and Effectiveness. They can also vote for one team in different categories. Here's an example of how a vote goes:

CREATIVITY:
1. Euphonos - Ah, I've never seen someone using such sets before.
2. eht - Because he always build creative sets and never disappoint!

ESSENCE:
1. Hogg - He managed to use the secret ingredient very well as it served as an integral component to his team.
2. Euphonos - He takes advantage of the secret ingredient in order for his key Pokemon to shine.

Effectiveness:
1. Euphonos - Knowing this person, he doesn't bring out anything that wasn't truly effective in the first place, and this team is no exception; while having some creative touches, it translated to its effectiveness quite well!
2. pokemon sparrow - Don't be fooled with a team that was unaesthetically pleasing, it's just damn effective in what it does!
. . . . . . .

The UU community has until
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 11 AM GMT -4
to cast a vote on this thread who are
the most original,
the most essential,

and
the best-tasting
dishes ever witnessed this round!

Allez, cuisine!

Creativity
1. bla bla fat: mostly because of the use of mismagius, an interesting offensive rotom set and sd sceptile.
2. giratina93: love the infernape set, and i've always thought dd flygon was a cool mon so props for using some interesting shit that could still be viable. flamethrower nidoking is cool nice idea to hit magnet rise klefki and some like, shuca cobalions so cool pick!

Effectiveness
1. exploding daisies: while certainly being rather uncreative i cant deny the the fact that it looks like a threatening team that would have success in practice.
2. renny: the volt turn into breaker concepts are tried and true and your team is a good showcase of that and it seems like it covers most meta threats so you get my second vote

CREATIVITY:
1. bla bla fat - SD sceptile is less used but pretty potent and the mismagius set is new to me and is an interesting option for an offensive spin blocker.
2. SuperVegeta20 - Hey the man might not win many games with this team but he's using his favorite mon and I can respect that.

ESSENCE:
1. Tara Melos - Bulky offence is the style which comes to mind when I think of monster.
2. explodingdaisies - The secret ingredient is the main sweeper on his team and utilises the z-move

Effectiveness:
1. Renny - I think the volt turn style employed by this team will prove tough to deal with.
2. Tara Melos - This core has promise.

pokemonisfun

Banned deucer.
Creativity:
  1. bla bla bla fat, for the same reasons as above, Sceptile and Mismagius are interesting sets, although I wouldn't call Mismagius effective overall.

Effectiveness:
  1. Renny, although the team lacks power (for example, only Blissey + Quagsire can wall basically the whole team if Toxic Spikes is removed), it has pretty much everything else covered as it has nice bulk and cohesion with Rotom Wash and Scizor
Essence:
  1. bla bla bla fat, they made one of their monsters (Sceptile) the main sweeper and gave it some nice support with Spikes and a spinblocker
  2. exploding daisies, they also made one of their monsters a main sweeper with Haxorus although the support is nt as obvious (hard to take advantage of opposing Scizor for example)

TIME'S UP!

Voting has officially ended! Here are the special winners for today's episode!

Here are the rates from our esteemed Panel of Judges!

CREATIVITY: 2 / 5
This team manages to not tread too far from the beaten path while still having some underrated tech in Toxic Spikes Beedrill, which it capitalizes handily on by placing extremely heavy pressure on hazard removers and Steel-types, as well as Haxorus, the main win condition for the team.

ESSENCE: 3 / 5
While this team makes good use of Nidoking's and Haxorus's offensive prowess, the lack of answers against Flying-type Pokemon makes us judges think that Nidoking is slapped in order to fulfill the quota -- we'd go for Mamoswine over Nidoking in that affair (although you have to search for a different type of monster)!

EFFECTIVENESS: 7.5 / 10
The reason for our suggestion of putting Mamoswine over Nidoking is because your team definitely lacks an answer against Flying Pokemon, which is definitely one of the given caveats for most offensive teams. Apart from that, the team relies too heavily on prediction, which is a definition of a high-risk, high-reward team. Nonetheless, this is a well-built team; keep it up.

TOTAL: 12.5 / 20

CREATIVITY: 2 / 5
The team is not overly creative as it seems; it's actually Wish on Togekiss that stood out as the main draw of creativity. Furthermore, some of the EV spreads used are interesting at least, enough to warrant a fair score in that criterion.

ESSENCE: 2 / 5
The goal that you're trying to set is there, but the implementation of the theme, like the team itself, comes off to us judges as tonally inconsistent, containing elements of offense (Dragon Dance Haxorus, Scarf Infernape, max Attack Gliscor) and balance (Aggron, the aforementioned Togekiss) but never committing to one, thus leading to not enough of either.

EFFECTIVENESS: 4 / 10
For the reasons given above, the team suffers from this criterion as well. From what we have gathered, you aim to create a bulky offense team and implement the theme to reflect this, but the result is a tonally confused team that tries to cover too many themes and too many styles while succeeding at none of them. Nonetheless, it was a valiant effort building a team like this; the goal you set is there, but you have to focus on building to that goal.

TOTAL: 8 / 20

CREATIVITY: 3 / 5
Shedinja is one of the most interesting Pokemon to build around, period. Based on the team that you have built, you tried to deviate from the typical Shedinja formula by taking a more offensive approach between Blastoise and Taunt Nidoking - definitely a rather decent score for this criterion.

ESSENCE: 3.5 / 5
What holds back from putting up a fairly high score in this criterion is that Blastoise and Nidoking aren't actually cohesive enough for Shedinja to shine -- in this case, we judges find Nidoking slapped to fulfill the quota. Putting a defensive Nidoqueen would be an interesting addition to the team over the Nidoking you currently have.

EFFECTIVENESS: 5 / 10
That said, the glaring weakness to some of the most common threats in the tier simply cannot be ignored. Mega Gardevoir, Mega Sharpedo, Chandelure, and to a lesser extent, certain Mega Latias sets all give this team immense trouble, meaning that it can be very quick and easy for a number of teams to cause this gimmick to fall apart. But due to the nature of Shedinja, there are a considerable number of matchups that this team gives trouble in return. This is a great effort in building a Shedinja team which definitely reminded of Euphonos's long-standing ORAS UU team before Salamence departed.

TOTAL: 11.5 / 20

CREATIVITY: 2.5 / 5
What stood out in this team is the presence of Flygon, which is definitely a rare sight to behold nowadays. Apart from that, you have a rather interesting Swords Dance Infernape set along with a Z-Crystal in order to constantly check Weavile (though Mach Punch > Earthquake would be nice in order to scare Weavile out).

ESSENCE: 3.5 / 5
The direction where your team is heading is getting there, which is a huge plus to this criterion. You're using Nidoking and Mega Blastoise to break down what it needs to break down in order for the set-up attackers to shine.

EFFECTIVENESS: 4.5 / 10
While the overall direction of the team is reflective of its relatively decent score in the Essence criterion, some of the sets you have were suboptimal at best. For example, Firium Z + Swords Dance Infernape has great potential, but it doesn't seem to be a fit to the team to a point that it should resort to sets such as Choice Band or Choice Scarf. Finally, Fighting types could be a massive threat to your team; while Nidoking is your sole switch-in to Fighting attacks, it isn't bulky enough to stomach repeated hits. As such, Pokemon like Cobalion would simply set up Swords Dance and win the match, with Infernape being one of your only chances of winning by a speed tie. As such, you may want to take Doublade into consideration over your Scizor so as to provide you an answer against such Pokemon. We hope that you stay on course with your goal in mind, and focus from there. That was definitely a valiant effort on your part.

TOTAL: 10.5 / 20

CREATIVITY: 3.5 / 5
This is the most intriguing among all other teams around here; what sets this team apart from the rest is the use of Swords Dance Mega Sceptile and the use of Mismagius as an offensive spin blocker.

ESSENCE: 3.5 / 5
You actually made good use of Mega Sceptile's and Nidoking's offensive prowess, especially with the hazard stacking strategy you employ which entails exerting a lot of pressure to the opponent. That warrants a good score in this criterion.

EFFECTIVENESS: 6.5 / 10
The team is surprisingly effective, to say the least. However, with all due respect to A Cake Wearing A Hat, your team has some shaky answers to Mega Manectric to a point that it can't afford to run an Adamant nature. Also, your team ironically lacks some form of hazard control; this team needs to be played with as much aggression as possible to avert any crisis that involves hazards on your side of the field (although that actually makes sense when you have Taunt on Mismagius to prevent any hazard from setting up). Finally, just some food for thought: since you're taking advantage of hazard stacking in this team, you could have elected SubSeed Mega Sceptile, which is another viable take on this team. Otherwise, great effort in building your team -- it's well-built. Good job!

TOTAL: 13.5 / 20

CREATIVITY: 2 / 5
The Pokemon and the sets used in this team are, hands down, standard at best.

ESSENCE: 4 / 5
This is the most solid team in terms of how you put the monster core paired with VoltTurn. This team is definitely one of the easiest teams to follow and understand for starters.

EFFECTIVENESS: 8 / 10
The team isn't overly creative; let's get that right. I know this isn't really the type of team you wanted to build, but this team is dynamite for showcasing how truly effective VoltTurn is in the metagame, paired with a monstrous core that would tear opposing teams apart -- something that we judges would bring up in an official tournament. Your team isn't as heavy in terms of making predictions, and your team has covered almost all of the fundamentals this offensive team should have. Good job.

TOTAL: 14 / 20

The winner of this episode, with a cumulative weighted average of 63.69%, goes to...

Chef bla bla fat!

While Chef Renny_ won the hearts of the highly esteemed Panel of Judges, Chef bla bla fat wasn't far behind, and he won the hearts of the Underused Community, most notably being the most original dish presented in this episode. Here's the spreadsheet on how I come up with all the computations.

The third episode of Iron Chef is about to make its way soon. Seems like I'm going to pull a trigger...

For this next episode, this special guest I have today is one of the best-selling female singers active in the music industry today. Please welcome...

RIHANNA FENTY!
Rihanna, a singer-songwriter and actress hailed from Barbados, is one of the best-selling artists of all time, with sales exceeding 230 million records worldwide.. Rihanna is the youngest and fastest solo artist to earn fourteen number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as a current total of 31 Top 10 Hits on the same chart. She was named the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s decade and the top Hot 100 artist of the 2010s decade by Billboard. Among numerous awards and accolades, Rihanna has won eight Grammy Awards, twelve American Music Awards, twelve Billboard Music Awards and the inaugural Icon Award at the American Music Awards of 2013. Widely recognized for frequently reinventing her style, she received the Fashion Icon lifetime achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2014. Forbes ranked Rihanna the fourth most powerful celebrity of 2012, and was named one of Time's "100 Most Influential People in the World" later that year.

[source]

There is one song coming from her that would be integral to this episode's secret ingredient! It's time to unveil it below!

RUSSIAN ROULETTE!

Russian roulette is a lethal game of chance in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the cylinder, places the muzzle against their head, and pulls the trigger. In relation to Rihanna's single, the lyrics tell about an abusive romantic relationship that ended abruptly. Will the participants gamble on chances that their desired effects be made true?

In light of this, participants are required to build a team featuring at least four Pokemon having at least one attack with at least 30% chance of inducing a secondary effect (whether a flinch, status, or stat change).

Here are some of the things worth noting:
- Weavile is in suspect for this episode; for the team will not be immediately marked as "outdated" in case it would be banned by the UU Community, we are not allowing Weavile in this episode.
- Sheer Force Pokemon does not count because its ability cancels out its secondary effects for the sake of added power bonus.
- Serene Grace Pokemon do count, provided the base percent chance of triggering a secondary effect should satisfy the given requirement.

Participants have until
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 11 AM GMT -4
to complete your dishes to be sent to the Chairman via PM.

Allez, cuisine!

So, apparently, I just realized that I have misread pokeisfun's vote last episode. Will that make a huge impact to the winners? Here it goes!

MOST ORIGINAL DISH: bla bla fat - that still remains.
MOST ESSENTIAL DISH: bla bla fat
BEST-TASTING DISH: Renny_

The winner of this episode, with a cumulative weighted average of 62.96%, goes to...

Chef Renny_!

What made this change is that the Chairman has read Iron Chef pokeisfun's vote as if it is read the standard Creativity-Essence-Effectiveness categories, but it happened that the Iron Chef's votes are read as Creativity-Effectiveness-Essence. Chef Renny_ has dominated in the effectiveness category which made the highly esteemed Panel of Judges and the UU community look up to. Here's the spreadsheet on how I come up with all the computations.

bla bla fat, you may think that your win got robbed because of my misread -- don't worry about it, your team will still be etched in the Hall of Fame. Apologies for any inconveniences caused.
