[SET COMMENTS]

  • Assault Vest Heatran uses its unique typing and great stats to match up well against common special attackers such as Flutter Mane and Gholdengo, and then threaten them back with its great offensive stats and coverage
  • While it boasts an innately good defensive typing, Tera Grass allows it to flip its common Water- and Ground-type weaknesses into resistances allowing it to scare out the likes of Palafin and Landorus-T
  • Tera Grass Heatran benefits from a lack of mons that can hit Grass types super-effectively in DOU especially because its ability gives it an immunity to Fire-type moves
  • Heat Wave is a strong fire type attack that allows Heatran to hit two targets at once
  • Flash Cannon hits Fairy-types such as Flutter Mane and Diancie
  • Heavy Slam is sometimes run over flash cannon due to the fact it one-shots Flutter Mane, but is unreliable because it can be weakened by Attack drops from Intimidate, Defense increases from Diamond Storm, and is ineffective into Heavy Pokemon such as Great Tusk
  • Tera Blast Grass allows Heatran to hit Water- and Ground-types super-effectively after it has Terastallized, several notable examples are Palafin, Iron Bundle, and Great Tusk all of which are OHKO'd by Tera Blast
  • Earth Power allows Heatran to attack Fire-types such as Heatran, Volcanion, and Chi-Yu that would otherwise resist all of its attacks
  • Heatran has no form of recovery so it enjoys Pokemon that can help it heal off damage such as Rillaboom, Cresselia and Amoonguss
  • Heatran often forms fire-water-grass cores with Pokemon such as Rillaboom, Palafin and Amoonguss who help minimize its weaknesses
  • Rillaboom can switch into the Water- and Ground-types that scare Heatran, such as Palafin, Iron Bundle, Ting Lu, and Great Tusk, and threaten them back with a Wood Hammer or Drum Beating,
  • Rillaboom also provides Fake Out support and Grassy Terrain recovery to Heatran
  • Palafin threatens Ground types such as Landorus and Great Tusk that can OHKO an un-tera'd Heatran and its priority Jet Punch helps to make up for Heatran's low Speed
  • Amoonguss can redirect threatening moves away from Heatran using its Rage Powder and restore Heatran's HP with Pollen Puff
  • Amoonguss's Grass / Poison typing allows it to resist Fighting- and Water-type moves aimed at Heatran before it Terastallizes and Fairy-type moves, primarily Flutter Mane's Moonblast, away from Heatran after Heatran Terastallizes

  • add a point about heat wave
  • Flash Cannon provides a reliable stab attack and hits Fairy-types, such as Flutter Mane and Diancie, super effectively
  • (consolidate this point w/ the one above) Heavy Slam is sometimes run over flash cannon due to the fact it one-shots Flutter Mane. this warrants a bit more explanation, because it's not clear why you would use one over the other right now. heavy slam does more damage to flutter mane but is less reliable because it is prone to intimidate, worse into diancie, and worse into the heatran mirror
  • Tera Blast Grass allows Heatran to hit Water and Ground types super-effectively after it has Terastallized are there any that you would say are particularly important examples to hit? you could add those
  • Earth Power allows Heatran to attack Fire Types such as Heatran, Volcanion, and Chi-Yu that would otherwise resist all of its attacks
  • [Assault Vest allows Heatran to more easily take attacks from the special attackers of the tier such as Flutter Mane and Gholdengo
  • Heatran prefers not to Tera early in the game so it can preserve its useful Fire/Steel type
  • Heatran uses its great stats, useful ability, incredible typing, and near perfect coverage to threaten most of the tier while being scared by comparatively little especially after it Terastallizes] you could move all of these points towards the top and consolidate it into one point: "Assault Vest Heatran uses its unique typing and useful ability to match up well against common special attackers such as Flutter Mane and Gholdengo, and then threaten them back with its great offensive stats and coverage. While it boasts an innately good defensive typing, Tera Grass allows it to flip its common Water- and Ground-type weaknesses into resistances, letting it match up better against the likes of Palafin and Landorus-T." or some shit like that
  • Heatran has no form of recovery so it enjoys Pokémon Pokemon (no accent in analyses; just Pokemon) that can help it heal off damage such as Rillaboom, Cresselia and Amoonguss. Heatran often forms fire-water-grass cores with Pokémon such as Rillaboom, Palafin and Amoonguss who help it deal with unfavorable matchups explain this point more if you keep it in; you can say how they cover for each other weaknesses both offensively and defensively?
  • Heatran does not require any speed so its ev spread maximizes bulk and special attacking power self-explanatory 252/252 spreads dont need a bullet point
  • Almost all Heatran sets use Tera Grass as it allows Heatran to resist its two biggest weaknesses (Water and Ground) and hit them back super effectively) i worked this point into your new opening

i feel like this analysis is too brief as is, but it'd get too chaotic to suggest more at once. implement this and then we can look over it again

hey Lemurro, mods have gotten together and think at the moment it would be best to reassign the heatran analysis. thank you for your efforts and we hope this does not discourage you from trying to write a future analysis - if you have any questions you can message me on discord @ porygonzee or ask in the analysis-discussion channel in the dou discord. ultimately the analysis is just behind quality standards we look for and with the time crunch we have to get these on site it would be better to have the analysis go back up for grabs.
