Guzzlord @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 136 Def / 252 SpA / 60 SpD / 60 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb
Guzzlord has quickly cemented itself as a meta-defining force thanks to its incredible Dark / Dragon typing and immense movepool, which includes a powerful STAB move in Draco Meteor and the coverage to bypass many of its checks like Clefairy and Alolan Sandslash. What sets Guzzlord apart from other wallbreakers is its solid defensive utility courtesy of its typing and monstrous HP, allowing it to prey on Pokemon like Jellicent, Alolan Persian, and Tangela while forcing Pokemon such as Alolan Raichu, Simisear, and Eelektross to utilize Fighting-type coverage if they wish to threaten it. Unfortunately, Guzzlord is weak to common offensive types and is easy to wear down due to its poor Speed and lack of recovery; for these reasons, teammates like Mesprit, Oricorio-E, and Alolan Sandslash are recommended, as they're respective checks to Pokemon such as Hitmonchan, Scyther, and Aurorus, while Mesprit can provide additional support through Healing Wish, Stealth Rock, or a slow U-turn.
