Game of Thrones [thronies rejoice! XD]

Better than Ep6 but still a pretty naff episode unfortunately.

Littlefinger death scene not worth the payoff of the stupid scenes earlier on / goes against the ethos of his character entirely if he manages to be tricked by Arya.

Rhaegar/Lyanna scene not as emotionally involving as the scene clearly tried to be. We know all this info already, why say it again.

Meeting in Kings Landing was fine but honestly really anti-climatic, and why the hell were Brienne and Pod there?? It's not that the scene was bad, but just...weird. Everything felt mechanical or distinctly non-GoT-esque.

Also the fact that the White Walkers could only break the wall through Jon and co. going ahead with that stupid mission is really bleurgh - surely there's another way for the WWs to get across without it being so damn contrived.

The snow scene in Kings Landing was very very good though.

My least favorite part of this entire season was the marriage scene because they showed Rhaegar. I really enjoyed the fact that you never saw Rhaegar and he was basically a myth. You only know this character through the eyes of others, so it let my mind create this particular Rhaegar and showing him in that way didn't really add anything. We already knew that there was a wedding, what did we actually gain from that scene?

mostly the fact that the writers for the show don't really know what's going on since they no longer have source material to go off of.

We saw Bran put the pieces together and verify it. It is different if someone just writes it in a book, but with Bran physically seeing it and verifying it, that gives absolute validity to what we already knew.

The scene is unnecessary, because Bran still needs to tell Jon and none of that information is new to the audience. But seeing "him" does make sense.

I think the scene would've worked just as well had they shown the atmosphere and the septon, but still not shown Raeghar, but that's just my opinion.

Jorah's face when Daenerys said she'll sail with Jon was priceless, btw.

Also, kudos to Bran for spending a few episodes thinking about how to explain what the Three-Eyed Raven is, after previously telling his own sister twice that it's "difficult to explain". That wasn't so hard, was it?

Because up until that point, Bran had thought that Jon was a bastard of Rhaegar and Lyanna, leading him to think that Jon's real name should be Jon Sand (since he was born in Dorne). The scene was more so for him to witness and verify the wedding himself, after which he went back to the Tower of Joy to listen to what Jon's name really is. We were seeing things from Bran's perspective for him to piece everything together.

they truly managed to turn the best show on tv into something legit worse than the average brazilian soap opera.

positive aspects of season 7 were literally only action scenes and exclusively the ones with dragons involved. action scenes in this season were truly visual masterpieces, but even still I felt like there were no sequences comparable to the ones in previous seasons in terms of excitement that comes with good plot development.

the poor writing here was just too much. it's noticeable how they can't handle wrapping up this story without turning this show into something completely different (and much worse) than what it used to be. we're literally stuck with a handful of actually relevant characters (jon, daenerys, the night king, cersei) and everyone else is pretty much irrelevant to the major plot. watching scenes from winterfell this season (or any dialogue really) felt like I was watching filler episodes inside episodes. this entire winterfell plot really came down to them killing littlefinger in one of the most predictable but also badly written ways yet, with no relevance to the major plot whatsoever. it's one thing to watch something that might not influence the major plot right away but will be relevant to the show at some point, such as arya's journey to become a faceless assassin while having a goal to kill people on her list, but it's another completely different one to waste an entire season of her being shady around winterfell threatening sansa for pretty much no reason.

I feel like so many people will insist that this season was good because of action sequences when it was probably the worst by far. I really don't understand how people think this plot was set up well when they literally came up with one of the dumbest reasons to give the night king a dragon (pretty much the only way they could think of making the whitewalkers go through the wall). that entire plan was so fucking stupid I legit don't think I've seen such tremendous bad writing on the show. I'm gonna make a list of shit I'm super upset about this season to not extend this post even more.

- how are you supposed to pick up one whitewalker? they're always walking in a pack of like 100.000 together and they never stray away from each other.
- why is gendry actually usain bolt? why is that raven actually a choice scarf ninjask?
- why are the whitewalkers a threat if they can't go through the wall? isn't the only way they lose this war if they are forced to fight it by coming up with a stupid plan that ends up giving the night king a mystical creature that will eventually destroy the wall and threaten humanity to begin with?
- we don't know what to do with characters like littlefinger and melisandre, so let's just get rid of them? we've been following them since season 1 and they were legit just removed from the show for no reason.
- why is everyone ok with daenerys and tyrion trying to pull this bullshit truce in this medieval era with one of the worst human beings of all time? what the fuck. this is game of thrones not the fucking un.
- brienne follows people for loyalty since season 1. swore an oath to protect renly, stayed with him until the end. swore an oath to the stark girls, is still protecting them. "fuck loyalty! fuck oaths!" - brienne of tarth to jaime lannister asking him to talk to cersei, right after jon snow (the dude on her side) fucks up the deal for being loyal to daenerys. :thinkingEmoji:
- bran "knows everything" but who really knows everything is my boy samwell tarly, who managed to read 3 books this season and find out the cure to an incurable disease, the biggest source of dragonglass in westeros, and jon sand's actual name. bran proving himself as the most incompetent three-eyed raven of all time, who literally used his power to narrate vanilla porn and tell his sister she looked pretty when she was raped. amazing.

I could keep on nitpicking but honestly every dialogue this season was just so bad they could fit in this list so I'll just stop it for now. I'm really salty and sad about how this show is ending up.

sorry i was trying to gain attention from anyone who might be waiting for the final season.

are there any spoiler rules i should be aware of? rules are important for games

Nah, season 7 hurt my enthusiasm a lot. I'm definitely still going to be watching season 8 but it's no longer a show that I'm going to be clinging to every piece of available information for.

haha. to be honest i am just glad to see some activity in here. i wasnt even aware of this place not too long ago. i've been too busy in firebot since my return.

I'm not worried about any disinterest. when the time comes, a game of thrones will reel you all back in like a magikarp nibbling at the end of an old rod.

what i am worried about is that we all wont talk about all our fav stuffs in this thread until 2019
