  • Ferrothorn functions as a wonderful defensive Pokemon thanks to its great defensive stats and its typing which allow it to check threats powerful Electric-type and Fairy-type Pokemon in the metagame such as Tapu Koko, Tapu Fini, Tapu Lele, and Plasmanta.
  • Thanks to its above average defense in conjunction with its ability Iron Barbs, it greatly discourages physical attacking and punishes weaker priority moves and voltturn cores.
  • it can find many opportunities to set up hazards such as Spikes and Stealth Rock and or Knock Off opposing Pokemon’s items.
  • Ferrothorn actually has a decent attack stat for a wall and can pressure the opposing team withPower Whip and Gyro Ball.
  • Ferrothorn is a prominent pokemon on most rain teams because its ability to set up hazards and discourage some of the Pokemon that threaten rain teams.
  • Ferrothorn should be aware of opposing Fire-types and or Pokemon with Fire-type coverage. Some of these Pokemon include Mega Manectric, Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Greninja variants running Hidden Power Fire.
  • Ferrothorn's poor speed meansit can be worn down quite easily. It is important to maintain its longevity until it is no longer needed and can be sacked.

Moves
========

  • Hazards such as Spikes and Stealth Rock allow Ferrothorn to successfully pressure the opposing team by hazard chip when switching. Spikes is the most commonly used hazard on Ferrothorn, however, Stealth Rockis just a valuable as it is easily set up in one turn.
  • Leech Seed is Ferrothorn’s only viable form of recovery and wears down opposing Pokemon’s HP, which is helpful late game.
  • Power Whip is important for hitting trouble some water types such as Greninja,Arghonaut, Krillowat, and Tapu Fini.
  • Knock Off is able to wear down switch-ins and remove Choice items, Leftovers, berries, and Life Orb.
  • In conjunction with Ferrothorn’s poor speed, Gyro Ball becomes a great option when checking Fairy-types such as Tapu-Koko, Tapu Bulu, Kerfluffle, Mega Gardevoir, and Tapu Lele.
  • Lastly,Protect is a solid option for morerecovery from Leech Seed and Leftovers. It helpsFerrothorn take on Mega Medicham or Mega Lopunny in order to avoid its High Jump Kick, lets Ferrothorn scout what moves choiced users are about to be locked into, scouts for possible Hidden Power Fire users, and lets it tank Z moveslike Landorus-T's Supersonic Skystrike
Set Details
========

  • A Maximum HP Investment and 208 Special Defense EVs assure that Ferrothorn will be able to survive a +3 Ice beam from Syclant as well as be able to be just barely be 3HKOd by Hurricane on offensive Tomohawk.
  • The final 48 EVs are invested into Defense in order to improve its physical bulk.
  • Leftovers is the best possible item to ensure Ferrothorn’s longevity throughout the match
  • As an alternative item, Chople berry can be used to avoid being OHKO'd by super effective Fighting-type moves from the likes of Mega Alakazam, Mega Lopunny, Arghonaut, and Tapu Bulu.
  • Lastly, Ferrothorn’s ability, Iron Barbs discourages physical attacks by causing chip damage, punishing U-turn and or Rapid Spin Users.

Usage Tips
========

  • To preserve Ferrothorn's HP, switch it into moves that Ferrothorn resists such as Tapu Koko, Naviathan, and some choice locked Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Plasmanta, and Volkraken.
  • Early game it is imperative to set up entry hazards with Ferrothorn in order to force pressure onto the opposing team.
  • Leech Seed should be used to keep Ferrothorn healthy throughout the game as well as annoy opposing switch-ins that may try to KO Ferrothorn like Zapdos or Cyclohm
  • Knock Off is also generally used to punish opposing switch ins by knocking off their item. It is best to use when Ferrothorn is able to force a switch.
  • it is best to keep Ferrothorn as healthy as possible until hazard removers such as Tomohawk, Zapdos, Skarmory, Tapu Fini, and Colossoil are incredibly weakened or KOd. Only one layer of Spikes should be layed until the hazard removers have fainted, as it wastes turns to set up more. Once they have been worn down, three layers of Spikes should be layed to maximize chip damage.
Team Options
========

  • Ferrothorn is best paired with other hazard setters like Landorus-Therian, Toxapex, Fidgit, and Heatran to form a hazard stacking core which can create immense pressure against opposing teams and make it harder for them to switch.
  • Landorus-Therian in particular pairs well with Ferrothorn as it checks Heatran, Mega Venusaur, and Tapu Bulu.
  • Pokemon that can threaten common entry hazard removers like Tapu Fini and Tomohawk such as Greninja and Plasmanta are greatly appreciated. In return, Ferrothorn can provide these Pokemon with hazard support which makes it easier for these Pokemon to sweep.
  • Pokemon that threaten Fire-types are also great partners such as Keldeo, Zygarde, Krillowatt, and Volkraken.Ferrothorn also appreciates Pokemon that are able to pivot in on Fire-type attacks for it like Rotom-Wash and Landorus-Therian. merge these together
  • Ferrothorn can help provide support to wallbreakers and sweepers by removing certain items such as Assault Vest on Tangrowth, Choice Scarf on Excadrill, Eviolite on Chansey, and Leftovers on Tapu Fini, making it easier for the sweepers and wallbreakers to do their job.
  • Ferrothorn has great defensive type synergy with the likes of Toxapex, Arghonaut, Tapu Fini, Mollux, and Pyroak. Together these Pokemon can form great defensive Fire / Water / Grass cores that are able to overcome a majority of the threats in the metagame.
  • Ferrothorn fits extremely well on rain teams with common abusers such as Pelipper, Tomohawk, Mega Swampert, Tapu Koko, Ash Greninja, and Kingdra, as it's a sturdy check to Electric-type moves.Ferrothorn's Spikes helps rain sweepers pick up more OHKOes, while rain halves Ferrothorn's large weakness to Fire-type moves
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

  • Stealth Rocks and Spikes may also be used on one set, but Ferrothorn can't set that many hazards effectively and Ferrothorn misses out on the utility of Knock Off or Leech Seed or ability to check Water-types with Power Whip.
  • Instead of Leftovers, Rocky Helmet may also be used in order to discourage and wear down physical attackers even more. However, Leftovers is generally better becauseFerrothorn appreciates the passive recovery.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage**: Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, Volcarona, and Mega Charizard Y threaten Ferrothorn with their STAB moves. Pokemon with Hidden Power Fire coverage such as Mega Mawile, Tapu Lele, Mega Venusuar, Greninja, and Magearna can also check Ferrothorn . HoweverFerrothorn can chip opposing Fire-types with Stealth Rock and removetheir items when they switch in.
**Electric-types with Fire-type coverage**: Zapdos, Cyclohm, and Magnezone can deal massive damage to Ferrothorn with Fire-type coverage. Magnezone in particular can trap Ferrothorn with its ability, Magnet Pull, and easily 2HKO it with Hidden Power Fire. Ferrothorn, in return, can do nothing against Magnezone as it bruhses off both Knock Off and Power Whip.
**Mega Sableye**: Thanks to Mega Sableye’s ability, Magic Bounce, Ferrothorn is not able to set up entry hazards on it.Will-O-Wisp also hampers Ferrothorn's attack stat, making its move Power Whip less effective, and cancels Leftovers recovery.
**Grass-types**: Most Grass-types resist Ferrothorn's Power Whip, are slow enough to resist Gyro Ball and take no effect to Leech Seed. Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss in particular are the best counters to Ferrothorn as they don’t particularly care about Knock Off and can easily KO back with Hidden Power Fire.
**Fighting-types**: Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Revenankh, Voodoom and Kerfuffle threatenFerrothorn as their STAB moves can easily KO Ferrothorn.Ferrothorn can run Protectto have an easier time dealing with High Jump Kick users such as Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny.
**Wallbreakers**: Pokemon such as Hoopa-Unbound, Garchomp, and Plasmanta can all overcome Ferrothorn’s bulk with super effective coverage or raw power
**Set-Up Sweepers**: Set-up sweepers such as SD Landorus-T, SD Fightinium Z Tapu Bulu, and Tail Glow Syclant can overload Ferrothorn with damage.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Like many hazard setting Pokemon in the CAP tier Ferrothorn is primarily a bulky defensive Pokemon.
  • The thing that sets Ferrothorn apart from the rest however is its access not only Stealth Rock but also Spikes and Leech Seed. Merge the first and second bullets. Explain why Ferrothorn is a good defensive Pokemon (typing, stats), not just state that it is. Also, the first bullet is really fluff. I see what you're going for, but I can name a bunch of offensive hazard setters: Greninja, Syclant, offensive Tomohawk, Mega Crucibelle, offensive Landorus-T, etc.
  • Thanks to its above average defense in conjunction with its ability Iron Barbs, it greatly discourages physical attacking in case of more chip damage.
  • Because of this it is a very valued wall that can find many opportunities to set up hazards and or Knock Off opposing Pokemon’s items. What does it wall?
  • Due to its poor speed and typing it lacks what it needs to place any offensive pressure of an opponent's team. If it lacked offensive pressure, it wouldn't run Power Whip. I'd actually give its attack power for a wall some credit.
  • Ferrothorn should also be aware of opposing Fire-types and or Pokemon with Fire-type coverage. Which Pokemon?

  • Hazards such as Stealth Rock and Spikes allow Ferrothorn to successfully pressure the opposing team by hazard chip when switching.
  • Leech Seed is Ferrothorn’s only viable form of recovery. It also wears down opposing Pokemon’s HP which is helpful late game.
  • Power Whip is important for hitting trouble some water types such as Greninja, and Naviathan. Tapu Fini would be a good example here, as well as Krilowatt
  • Knock Off is able to wear down switch-ins and Knock Off items which can ultimately give your team an advantage. Name a couple of common switch-ins or items that Knock Off helps against.
  • In conjunction with Ferrothorn’s poor speed, Gyro Ball becomes a great option when checking Fairy-types such as Tapu-Koko, and Tapu Fini. Tapu Fini is a poor example here since Power Whip hits harder. Cite Kerfluffle, Tapu Bulu, etc. instead.
  • Lastly, in order to preserve Ferrothron’s HP, Protect is a solid option for slow recovery from Leech Seed and Leftovers. It is also extremely helpful when taking on Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny in order to avoid its High Jump Kick. Protect lets Ferrothron scout what moves Choice users are about to be locked into and scouts for random HP Fire coverage.

Set Details
========

Merge the first two bullets, the first one is overly wordy
  • A Maximum HP Investment assures an improved state of bulk for Ferrothorn.
  • 208 Special Defense EVs assures that Ferrothorn will be able to survive a +3 Ice beam from Syclant as well as be able to be just barely be 3HKOd by an Offensive Hurricane on Tomohawk lacking Focus Blast.
252+ SpA Life Orb Tomohawk Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 346-408 (98.2 - 115.9%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
  • The final 48 EVs are invested into Defense in order for it to more easily take attacks from the likes of Mega Mawile and Guts Colossoil.
252+ Atk Guts Colossoil Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 48 Def Ferrothorn: 196-232 (55.6 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Guts Colossoil Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Ferrothorn: 204-241 (57.9 - 68.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

I'd prefer to see a 2HKO that turns into a 3HKO if at all possible, as it's a stronger example why these EVs are helpful
  • Leftovers is the best possible item to ensure Ferrothorn’s longevity throughout the match
  • As an alternative item, Chople berry can be used to tank super effective Fighting-type moves from the likes of Revenankh, Mega Lopunny, and Arghonaut.
  • Lastly, Ferrothorn’s ability Iron Barbs discourages physical attacks on it due to the chip damage received. overly wordy, cite that it punishes U-turn users and Rapid Spin

Usage Tips
========

  • In order to use Ferrothorn to its maximum potential it is essential that the player knows the correct time to switch Ferrothorn in. An example of this is when the player is facing weaker Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Navitha, and some choice locked Pokemon. Early game it is imperative to set up entry hazards with Ferrothorn in order to force pressure onto the opposing team. Say "Pokemon that it walls." Tapu Koko and Naviathan aren't weak Pokemon. Which Choice locked Pokemon? Tapu Lele locked into Moonblast or Volkraken locked into Surf or Power Gem are good examples.
  • Leech Seed should be used to keep Ferrothorn healthy throughout the game. It can also punish opposing switchins that may try to KO Ferrothorn.
  • Knock Off is also generally used to punish opposing switch ins by knocking off their item. We know what Leech Seed and Knock Off do, when and how do I use them?
  • Again it is best to keep Ferrothorn as healthy as possible until the opposing hazard remover is incredibly weakened or KOd.Note that it's important to actually identify the remover, as the greater saturation of hazard removers can mislead which Pokemon is the remover.

Team Options
========

  • Ferrothorn is best paired with other hazard setters like Landorus-Therian, Toxapex, Fidgit, and Heatran. Why is that? Is it because Spikes + other Pokemon's Stealth Rock pressure the opposing team?
  • Landorus-Therian in particular is a wonderful partner for Ferrothorn as it checks a large amount of Pokemon that threaten it. Pokemon like what?
  • Pokemon that can threaten common entry hazard removers such as Greninja, and Plasmanta are greatly appreciated. Hazard removers like what?
  • Pokemon that threaten Fire-types are also great partners such as Keldeo, Zygarde, and Volkraken. add Krilowatt
  • Ferrothorn is able to support a lot of its teammates due to it knocking off items like Leftovers from Tapu Fini or different choice items.
  • Ferrothorn also appreciates Pokemon that are able to pivot in for it like Rotom-Wash and Landorus-Therian.
  • Scarfed and generally speedy wallbreakers such as? appreciate the chip damage that Ferrothorn provides them.
You do this some, but you need to say what Ferrothorn can do for its teammates. Also, talk about defensive typing synergy with some the examples here.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

  • Stealth Rocks and Spikes may also be used on one set, however, it makes it much easier to switch into thus giving it a terrible matchup against prominent Pokemon such as Tomohawk, and Zapdos.
  • Instead of Leftovers, Rocky Helmet may also be used in order to discourage and wear down physical attackers. Leftovers is generally better because the recovery Ferrothorn receives is imperative to maintain its longevity throughout the match.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: The likes of Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Mega Charizard Y are just some of the many Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Ferrothorn with their STAB moves. Can Ferrothorn respond to these Pokemon in any way? (Setting up SR to chip them down, hitting them with Knock Off or Leech Seed on the switch). You mention Pokemon that run Fire-type coverage threaten Ferrothorn, do they go here or another place?

**Electric-types that resist Grass**: More prominent CAP threats such as Zapdos and Magnezone can deal massive damage to Ferrothorn. Magnezone in particular can trap Ferrothorn with its ability, Magnet Pull, and easily 2HKO it with Hidden Power Fire. Add Cyclohm

**Mega Sableye**: Thanks to Mega Sableye’s ability, Magic Bounce, Ferrothorn is not able to set up entry hazards on it. Not only this but Ferrothorn does not appreciate burn damage taken from Will-O-Wisp. or the reduced damage on Power Whip

**Grass-types**: Most Grass-types are unaffected by Ferrothorn completely because they are immune to Leech Seed? Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss in particular are the best counters to Ferrothorn as they don’t particularly care about Knock Off and can easily KO back with Hidden Power Fire.

**Fighting-types**: Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Medicham, Revenankh, and Kerfuffle can all pose troubles for Ferrothorn as their STAB moves can easily KO Ferrothorn. It should be noted that for Ferrothorn’s running Protect may have an easier time dealing with High Jump Kick users such as Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny.

**Wallbreakers**: Pokemon such as Protean Greninja, Hoopa-Unbound, Mega Mawile, Garchomp, Voodoom, and Plasmanta can all overcome Ferrothorn’s bulk with their wall breaking capabilities.
Overall, the analysis seems pretty barebones. You don't need to write a book, but for every claim you make you need to back it up with at least a reason and a couple examples why. Otherwise, the reader might not get why, for example, Ferrothorn pairs well with other hazard setters. Implement these comments, and then I'll take another look over it and slap QC check after that.

  • Ferrothorn functions as a wonderful defensive Pokemon thanks to its great defensive stats and its typing which provides it with 2 weaknesses and plenty of resistances. Talk about what it checks, (Water-types, Electric-types, Fairy-types, Steel-types, etc.)
  • Thanks to its above average defense in conjunction with its ability Iron Barbs, it greatly discourages physical attacking in case of more chip damage. In this point talk about how it punishes VoltTurn pretty well, how Ferrothorn is a pretty good switch-in to weaker priority moves (Fake Out, Bullet Punch, Extreme Speed, etc.), and how Iron Barbs can make up for Ferrothorn's damage output
  • Because of this it is a very valued wall that can find many opportunities to set up hazards Hazards like what? and or Knock Off opposing Pokemon’s items. Ferrothorn is able to wall quite a bit of prominent offensive threats such as Landorus-Therian, Zygarde, and Salamence. It's not as good of a check with how little Defense you present in the EV spread actually.
  • Ferrothorn lacks the speed to truly cement it as an offensive threat. This does not mean however that it can't place offensive pressure on the team. Ferrothorn actually has a decent attack stat for a wall and can pressure the opposing team with its strongest physical move, Power Whip. Fluff statements, mention Hero Gyro Ball
  • Mention its prominence on Rain teams
  • Ferrothorn should also be aware of opposing Fire-types and or Pokemon with Fire-type coverage. Some of these Pokemon include Mega Manectric, Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Greninja variants running Hidden Power Fire.

  • Leech Seed is Ferrothorn’s only viable form of recovery. It also wears down opposing Pokemon’s HP which is helpful late game.
  • Power Whip is important for hitting trouble some water types such as Greninja, Naviathan, Krillowat, and Tapu Fini.
  • Knock Off is able to wear down switch-ins and Knock Off items which can ultimately give your team an advantage. Choice items, Leftovers, berries, and Life Orb are commonly the best to Knock Off and can greatly hamper the opposing Pokemon.
  • In conjunction with Ferrothorn’s poor speed, Gyro Ball becomes a great option when checking Fairy-types such as Tapu-Koko, Tapu Bulu, Kerfluffle, and Mega Gardevoir. Add Tapu Lele
  • Lastly, in order to preserve Ferrothron’s HP, Protect is a solid option for slow recovery from Leech Seed and Leftovers. It is also extremely helpful when taking on Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny in order to avoid its High Jump Kick. Also Protect helps let Ferrothorn scout what moves choiced users are about to be locked into. It also helps scout for possible Hidden Power Fire users. Mention that it lets Ferrothorn tank Z moves much better

Set Details
========

  • A Maximum HP Investment assures an improved state of bulk for Ferrothorn. and 208 Special Defense EVs assures that Ferrothorn will be able to survive a +3 Ice beam from Syclant as well as be able to be just barely be 3HKOd by an Offensive Hurricane on Tomohawk lacking Focus Blast. Ik this isn't a GP check but you don't need a bunch of roundabout ways to explain stuff. Being concise with lots of detail is good.
  • The final 48 EVs are invested into Defense in order for it to more easily take attacks from the likes of Mega Mawile and Guts Colossoil. This implies that the EVs help Ferro survive a hit, but it doesn't. Just say it improves
  • Leftovers is the best possible item to ensure Ferrothorn’s longevity throughout the match
  • As an alternative item, Chople berry can be used to tank super effective Fighting-type moves from the likes of Revenankh, Mega Lopunny, and Arghonaut. These examples are incredibly bad. Chople Berry is used to avoid OHKOes from Fighting-type moves and then KO the opposing Pokemon after Chople activates
  • Lastly, Ferrothorn’s ability, Iron Barbs discourages physical attacks due to the chip damage received. This can come in handy when punishing U-turn and or Rapid Spin Users.

Usage Tips
========

  • In order to use Ferrothorn to its maximum potential it is essential that the player knows the correct time to switch Ferrothorn in. An example of this is when the player is facing Pokemon whose moves Ferrothorn resists such as Tapu Koko, Navithan Naviathan, and some choice locked Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Plasmanta, and Volkraken. Early game it is imperative to set up entry hazards with Ferrothorn in order to force pressure onto the opposing team. Last statement should be its own bullet
  • Leech Seed should be used to keep Ferrothorn healthy throughout the game. It can also punish opposing switch-ins that may try to KO Ferrothorn. It is best to use Leech Seed when trying to stall out Pokemon that it is able to wall such as Landorus-Therian, and Zygarde.
  • Knock Off is also generally used to punish opposing switch ins by knocking off their item. It is best to use when Ferrothorn is able to force a switch.
  • Again it is best to keep Ferrothorn as healthy as possible until the opposing identified hazard remover is incredibly weakened or KOd.

Team Options
========

  • Ferrothorn is best paired with other hazard setters like Landorus-Therian, Toxapex, Fidgit, and Heatran to form a hazard stacking core. Hazard stacking cores can create immense pressure against opposing teams and make it harder for them to switch. This is why you need to explain that Spikes are more important bc most of these setters (except Toxapex / Fidgit) don't have Spikes.
  • Landorus-Therian in particular is a wonderful partner for Ferrothorn as it checks a large amount of Pokemon that threaten it such as Heatran, Mega Venusaur, Tapu Bulu.
  • Pokemon that can threaten common entry hazard removers like Tapu Fini, and Tomohawk such as Greninja, and Plasmanta are greatly appreciated.

  • Ferrothorn also appreciates Pokemon that are able to pivot in for it like Rotom-Wash and Landorus-Therian.
  • Scarfed and generally speedy wallbreakers such as Weavile, Latios, and Volkraken appreciate the chip damage that Ferrothorn provides them.
  • Ferrothorn can help provide support for which mons? by removing certain items such as Assault Vest on Tangrowth, Choice Scarf on Excadrill, Eviolite on Chansey, and Leftovers on Tapu Fini.
  • Ferrothorn has great defensive type synergy with the likes of Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Pyroak. Explain why
It feels like you've got one list of Pokemon that Ferrothorn helps, and then another one that lists things that help Ferrothorn. While this isn't bad, I'd rather see "Pokemon that can threaten common entry hazard removers...are greatly appreciated. In return, Ferrothorn can set up hazards reliably during a match for these Pokemon to sweep" Team Options is where you can explain what makes a good core with Ferrothorn, so try to pair up how certain Pokemon appreciate Ferrothorn AND how Ferrothorn appreciates said Pokemon. Consolidate these points down. Wallbreakers that have decent type synergy should go here too.

Add Rain team partners (Pelipper, Tomohawk, Tapu Koko, Ash Greninja, Kingdra, Mega Swampert) as Ferrothorn fits well onto those teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options

  • Stealth Rocks and Spikes may also be used on one set, however, it makes it much easier to switch into thus giving it a terrible matchup against prominent Pokemon such as Tomohawk, and Zapdos. Why is it easier to switch into? Why these examples?
  • Instead of Leftovers, Rocky Helmet may also be used in order to discourage and wear down physical attackers. Leftovers is generally better because the recovery Ferrothorn receives is imperative to maintain its longevity throughout the match.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: The likes of Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Mega Charizard Y are just some of the many Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Ferrothorn with their STAB moves. Pokemon with Hidden Power Fire coverage can also check Ferrothorn. What commonly runs HP Fire? However it should be noted that Ferrothorn can chip opposing Fire-types with Stealth Rock and Knock Off their item when they switch in. Rename to Fire-types and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage

**Electric-types that resist Grass**: More prominent CAP threats such as Zapdos, Cyclohm, and Magnezone can deal massive damage to Ferrothorn with Fire-type coverage. Magnezone in particular can trap Ferrothorn with its ability, Magnet Pull, and easily 2HKO it with Hidden Power Fire. Change it to "Electric-types with Fire-type coverage" sorry for the second change. Talk about how Ferrothorn can generally do nothing to these also.

**Mega Sableye**: Thanks to Mega Sableye’s ability, Magic Bounce, Ferrothorn is not able to set up entry hazards on it. Not only this but Ferrothorn does not appreciate the burn damage taken from Will-O-Wisp. Will-O-Wisp also hampers Ferrothorn's attack stat making its move Power Whip less effective.

**Grass-types**: Most Grass-types are unaffected by Ferrothorn completely as they resist all of its moves and take no effect to Leech Seed.

What makes these wallbreakers work but others like Zygarde not? Move Greninja and Mega Mawile up to the first point.
This analysis needs these changes implemented before I can stamp QC.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Ferrothorn functions as a wonderful defensive Pokemon thanks to its great defensive stats and its typing which provides it with 2 weaknesses and plenty of resistances.
  • Because of these resistances it is able to check a handful of prominent Water-types, Steel-types, Fairy-types, Electric-types, and Psychic-types such as Tapu Fini, Scizor, Plasmanta, Tapu Koko, and Tapu Lele. merge these first two points, maybe into one sentence
  • Thanks to its above average defense in conjunction with its ability Iron Barbs, it greatly discourages physical attacking in case of more chip damage. This means it is great for discouraging weaker priority moves as well as voltturn cores. Ferrothorn is able to do this thanks to its ability Iron Barbs, which can help make up for its lack of damage output.
  • Because of this it is a very valued wall that can find many opportunities to set up hazards such as Spikes, and Stealth Rock and or Knock Off opposing Pokemon’s items. Ferrothorn is able to wall quite a bit of prominent offensive threats such as Landorus-Therian, Greninja, and Tapu Koko.
  • Ferrothorn actually has a decent attack stat for a wall and can pressure the opposing team with its strongest physical move, Power Whip. Also because of Ferrothorn's terrible speed stat it makes it a prime user of the move Gyro Ball.
  • Ferrothorn is a prominent pokemon on most rain teams because its ability to set up hazards and discourage some of the Pokemon that threaten rain teams.
  • Ferrothorn should also be aware of opposing Fire-types and or Pokemon with Fire-type coverage. Some of these Pokemon include Mega Manectric, Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Greninja variants running Hidden Power Fire.

  • Hazards such as Spikes and Stealth Rock allow Ferrothorn to successfully pressure the opposing team by hazard chip when switching. Usually Stealth Rock is the most commonly used hazard on Ferrothorn, however, Spikes are just a valuable as they can provide more chip damage when all three layers are set up. Talk about spikes first. Stealth Rock is the alternative to Spikes because Spikes is less widely distributed.
  • Leech Seed is Ferrothorn’s only viable form of recovery. It also wears down opposing Pokemon’s HP which is helpful late game.

It is also extremely helpful when taking on Mega Medicham and Mega Lopunny in order to avoid its High Jump Kick. Also Protect helps let Ferrothorn scout what moves choiced users are about to be locked into. It also helps scout for possible Hidden Power Fire users and lets it tank Z moves easily.

Set Details
========

  • A Maximum HP Investment and 208 Special Defense EVs assures that Ferrothorn will be able to survive a +3 Ice beam from Syclant as well as be able to be just barely be 3HKOd by an Offensive Hurricane on Tomohawk lacking Focus Blast.
  • The final 48 EVs are invested into Defense in order to improve the likelihood of it taking a hit from Mega Mawile, or Guts Colossoil. Get rid of these two examples for the third time lol. What you're implying just by simply naming these two examples is that the 48 Defense EVs make a difference between Ferrothorn getting 2HKOed and 3HKOed, and they don't. Just say "The final 48 EVs are invested into Defense to improve Ferrothorn's physical bulk."
  • Leftovers is the best possible item to ensure Ferrothorn’s longevity throughout the match
  • As an alternative item, Chople berry can be used to avoid being OHKO'd by super effective Fighting-type moves from the likes of Mega Lopunny, Arghonaut, and Tapu Bulu. Add Mega Alakazam here as another example
  • Lastly, Ferrothorn’s ability, Iron Barbs discourages physical attacks due to the chip damage received. This can come in handy when punishing U-turn and or Rapid Spin Users.

Usage Tips
========

  • In order to use Ferrothorn to its maximum potential it is essential that the player knows the correct time to switch Ferrothorn in. An example of this is when the player is facing Pokemon whose moves Ferrothorn resists such as Tapu Koko, Naviathan, and some choice locked Pokemon like Tapu Lele, Plasmanta, and Volkraken.
  • Early game it is imperative to set up entry hazards with Ferrothorn in order to force pressure onto the opposing team.
It is best to use when Ferrothorn is able to force a switch. note that you shouldn't knock off a choice locked switch-in if the situation arises
  • it is best to keep Ferrothorn as healthy as possible until the opposing identified hazard remover is incredibly weakened or KOd.

Team Options
========

  • Ferrothorn is best paired with other hazard setters like Landorus-Therian, Toxapex, Fidgit, and Heatran to form a hazard stacking core. Hazard stacking cores can create immense pressure against opposing teams and make it harder for them to switch.
In return Ferrothorn can provide these Pokemon with hazard support which makes it easier for these Pokemon to sweep.
  • Pokemon that threaten Fire-types are also great partners such as Keldeo, Zygarde, Krillowatt, and Volkraken.
  • Ferrothorn also appreciates Pokemon that are able to pivot in on Fire-type attacks for it like Rotom-Wash and Landorus-Therian. Landorus-T is an iffy example here because it doesn't resist and hates burns more than anything. I'd honestly just merge this bullet point and the one above this one.
  • Ferrothorn has great defensive type synergy with the likes of Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Pyroak. Together these Pokemon can form great Fire Water Grass cores that are able to overcome a majority of the threats in the metagame. FWG cores don't have to be exclusively defense or exclusively offensive, so maybe pick out some offensive examples too?
  • Ferrothorn fits extremely well on rain teams with the likes of Pelipper, Tomohawk, Mega Swampert, Tapu Koko, Ash Greninja, and Kingdra. Tapu Koko and Mega Swampert more easily pick up OHKOs because Spikes. It should also be mentioned that <--- This is the kind of fluff text that needs to go away. A longer sentences doesn't necessarily mean its better. the rain also halves Fire-type damage which in turn provides Ferrothorn with more longevity.

Other Options
=============

  • Stealth Rocks and Spikes may also be used on one set, however, it makes Ferrothorn lose some of its coverage which in turn makes it much easier to switch into thus giving it a terrible matchup against prominent Pokemon such as Tomohawk, and Zapdos.
  • Instead of Leftovers, Rocky Helmet may also be used in order to discourage and wear down physical attackers. Leftovers is generally better because the recovery Ferrothorn receives is imperative to maintain its longevity throughout the match.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types and Pokemon with Fire-type coverage**: The likes of Volkraken, Mollux, Heatran, and Mega Charizard Y are just some of the many Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Ferrothorn with their STAB moves. Pokemon with Hidden Power Fire coverage can also check Ferrothorn such as Tapu Lele, Mega Venusuar, and Magearna. However it should be noted that Ferrothorn can chip opposing Fire-types with Stealth Rock and Knock Off their item when they switch in.

**Electric-types with Fire-type coverage**: More prominent CAP threats such as Zapdos, Cyclohm, and Magnezone can deal massive damage to Ferrothorn with Fire-type coverage. Magnezone in particular can trap Ferrothorn with its ability, Magnet Pull, and easily 2HKO it with Hidden Power Fire. Ferrothorn, in return, can do nothing against Magnezone as it bruhses off both Knock Off and Power Whip.

**Wallbreakers**: Pokemon such as Protean Greninja, Mega Mawile, Hoopa-Unbound, Garchomp, Voodoom, and Plasmanta can all overcome Ferrothorn’s bulk with their wall breaking capabilities.
This is shaping up pretty well. However, at this point I really would like to work with you on a ppad or something to cut down on some of the fluff on this analysis. There are just a bunch of extraneous words that disrupt the flow of the analysis and make it unnecessarily longer. I know this might not exactly be what QC is for, but I think cleaning it up now will save a lot of time for you and QC later on. After we work on a ppad, I'll give QC.

BP, I just wanted to mention this spread as an alternative to yours (you can put it in the set details section as an alternative spread that is more physically bulky).
252 HP / 172 Def / 84 Def, Relaxed Nature with Gyro Ball (this spread is best if using Gyro Ball, and I'll explain in a bit why). Gyro Ball Ferrothorn acts as a way better counter to Coil Mega-Crucibelle than without, so I thought it would be fitting if it avoided the 2HKO from +2 Head Smash. It also avoids the 2HKO from +2 Guts Naviathan's Icicle Crash.

+2 252 Atk Crucibelle-Mega Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 172+ Def Ferrothorn: 158-186 (44.8 - 52.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Guts Naviathan Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 172+ Def Ferrothorn: 156-184 (44.3 - 52.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Broken Phobias don't forget about your USM updates.
Yea I've decided to not do these any more. However if anyone wants to take what I've already written and plagiarize recycle the whole entire thing and then update it I'm okay with them doing that. Don't even need to give me credit.
