Syclar, the Icicle Pokémon

Diamond: SYCLAR typically live at the feet of tall, snow-capped mountains. From the day they hatch, they aspire to someday scale the tallest of peaks.

Pearl: SYCLAR celebrate the onset of winter by coming out of their summer burrows and using their small, sharp claws to skate on the fresh river ice.

Platinum: Riding the gusts of blizzards, a swarm of SYCLAR is doubly harmful to even the hardiest of crops; they eat whatever plant matter the cold winds and snow leave untouched.

Ultra Moon: The primary use of its vent is to control its body temperature. It often proves inefficient in stressful scenarios though, which leads to overheating.
G-Luke (Final Submission)
Smokomodo, the Pyroclastic Pokémon

Sun: Magma courses through its entire body. It emits smoke from its back to help regulate body temperature.

Moon: Beneath its stubborn facade is a clever and crafty Pokémon. Hiding within a cloud of smog, it adeptly uses its limbs and long tail to subdue prey.

Ultra Sun: It nests in caverns deep within active volcanoes. By using the vents on its back to propel itself, Smokomodo can quickly traverse the craggy terrain to seek out new territory.

Ultra Moon: The veins on its body change color based on its mood. Bright red is a sign of hostility, while a flickering yellow signals trust to its Trainer.
StephXPM (Final Submission)
Swirlpool, the Tide Pool Pokémon

Sun: It filters oxygen from the surrounding air by using the coral on its back. If damaged, it will seek refuge underwater until the coral has grown back.

Moon: It constantly fusses with the spiral organ on its head. It uses sticky mucus to help it maintain its shape.

Ultra Sun: A curious Pokemon that leaves behind sticky mucus trails as it explores. It can easily scale up vertical walls, but will leave a big mess in its wake.

Ultra Moon: Having a deceptively voracious appetite, it feeds upon caustic chemicals deemed too dangerous for humans and other Pokemon.
StephXPM (Final Submission)
Coribalis, the Coral Reef Pokémon

Sun: It is naturally immune to all sorts of toxins. It defends other Pokémon from the attacks of Mareanie and Tentacool.

Moon: Despite their elegance, they are very foul tempered. It is said that when a ship experience rough waters an angry Coribalis is to blame.

Ultra Sun: Coribalis have four sturdy tentacles that keep it anchored to the reef floor. It moves with a swaying motion in time with the tides.

Ultra Moon: Many dances have been inspired by the rhythmic clapping of its shells. Scientists have discovered that this behaviour is actually a warning.
MrDollSteak (Final Submission)
Snaelstrom, the Barrier Reef Pokémon

Sun: They carry entire ecosystems on their back. Even in death, their shells continue to provide shelter for all sorts of aquatic Pokémon.

Moon: Toxapex is its primary prey. Because of this, Corsola have formed a symbiotic relationship with Snaelstrom, maintaining its shell while also avoiding predation.

Ultra Sun: During tropical storms, it digs its feet into the ground. The currents warping its soft body have inspired all sorts of belly dances, though Snaelstrom itself is quite a clumsy dancer.

Ultra Moon: In order to help preserve their integrity, it will carefully rearrange coral reefs as it sees fit. If it becomes too focused, it may accidentally try to move smaller Pokémon around instead.
StephXPM (Final Submission)
Justyke, the Order Pokémon

Sun: Though commonly associated with stoic legal business, Justyke are surprisingly hot-headed. They'll swing their mallet-like bodies at anyone they judge, accurately or not, as evil.

Moon: It strikes its head against anything nearby to calm down tense situations. Many Alolan courtrooms have small wooden blocks built into the bench for Justyke to strike.

Ultra Sun: It swings its body with tremendous force which it uses to bring trials to order and punish evildoers. One famous music group even features a Justyke as percussionist.

Ultra Moon: Alolan ruins feature imagery of Justyke in scenes depicting ancient disputes. It was typically drawn off to the side, indicating it acted as an assistant rather than a judge.
Okamu (Final Submission)
Equilibra, the Balance Pokémon

Sun: Historical records of this Pokemon begin at the dawn of human civilization. It vanquishes those it deems unjust with divine rays of light.

Moon: It pries into the hearts of others with its true eye. Those who it considers righteous are spared from its wrath.

Ultra Sun: In some myths, it guarded the afterlife. It was said to only grant passage to those whose souls maintained balance against a single grain of sand.

Ultra Moon: A Pokemon that maintains order by any means necessary. All who oppose it are punished accordingly.

Solotl, the Shooting Star Pokémon

Sword: Legends say that Solotl first came to Galar after falling from space. They radiate intense heat.

Shield: Solotl are drawn to kindhearted Trainers and can spend a lifetime making sure that their dreams come true.
MrDollSteak (Final Submission)
Astrolotl, the Shooting Star Pokémon

Sword: Astrolotl illuminate the night sky with their flight. Groups of Astrolotl migrating across Galar are frequently mistaken for meteor showers.

Shield: It is a Galar custom to make a wish when Astrolotl are seen flying at night. The Pokemon may curiously descend if the wish is kind.
sneakyjeans (Final Submission)
Miasmite, the Gas Grub Pokémon

Sword: Miasmite's tail constantly leaks a powerful hallucinogen. Under its influence, Miasmite resembles the face of a fearsome dragon.

Shield: Its tail clamps down reactively on anything that touches its real head. It holds on tightly until its fumes take full effect in order to pacify the threat.
Pipotchi (Final Submission)
Miasmaw, the Gas Beetle Pokémon

Sword: Nerves in its false jaw allow it to act independently from the rest of its body. Scientists once believed Miasmaw's abdomen housed a second brain.

Shield: It developed a false set of jaws to deter predators that could withstand its noxious gas. The weight of its abdomen makes it difficult to fly, however.
Slapperfish (Final Submission)
Chromera, the Master Beast Pokémon

Sword: Its oily coat oozes colors across the entire spectrum. With a swipe from its tail, it paints the world around it as it pleases.

Shield: Toxic fumes overwhelm the air as it paints abstract patterns. A muse long sought after, those who come across Chromera are struck with inspiration.
StephXPM (Final Submission)
Venomicon, the Cursed Tome Pokémon

Sword: A living relic from a dark, bygone era, this Pokémon is said to have been created by a vengeful sorcerer.

Shield: Each solstice and equinox, this Pokémon appears during the night at an ancient library deep within the Crown Tundra. Its cries are eerily human.

Venomicon-Epilogue

Sword
: After plunging its pen-like head into a forbidden inkwell, it darts about the skies in a berserk rage. When not flying, it shudders violently.

Shield: Venomicon’s vision has been enhanced beyond the material plane, but its ink distorts everything into moving targets. If it spots you, there is no escape.
thundergoos (Final Submission)
Saharascal, the Vagabond Pokémon

Sword: It distracts larger opponents by walking with an unsteady gait to feign weakness, then kicks a cloud of sand into the eyes of its foes before escaping.

Shield: When they are old enough to walk, Saharascal are left to fend for themselves in harsh desert environments. This causes them to develop a crafty personality.
Shadowshocker (Final Submission)
Saharaja, the Grand Vizier Pokémon

Sword: Its brilliant blue gems, which contain water, have made it a favorite of desert royalty. It spits upon those it deems unworthy to be in its presence.

Shield: Particularly petty rulers would "gift" a Saharaja to their enemies, its high expenses and grating pompousness bringing them to ruin and bankruptcy.
Bloopyghost (Final Submission)

Ababo, the Tiny Cell Pokémon

Scarlet: Small yet passionate, Ababo will willingly act as a living shield for its injured friends.

Violet: These shy Pokémon live in large groups. To protect against predators, they huddle together to form an impenetrable barrier.
Bice (Final Submission)
Scattervein, the Loopy Pokemon

Scarlet: This empathetic Pokemon tries to seek out sad people in order to cheer them up, but its unsettling appearance traumatizes them instead.

Violet: Scattervein uses its ditzy demeanor in order to get its prey to let down its guard. It uses the four tubes in its mouth to suck its prey's warm blood.
Bice (Final Submission)
Hemogoblin, the Warm-Hearted Pokémon

Scarlet: It absorbs stressful emotions and converts them into heat, which strengthens its muscular body. It's very popular among working adults.

Violet: When hugged, accumulated heat in its body causes it to throb with a dull beating sound. If hugged too tightly, it risks exploding violently from joy.
Shadowshocker (Final Submission)
Cresceidon, the Great Wave Pokémon

Scarlet: On the night of a crescent moon, it rises from the deep. It controls the ebb and flow of the tide with its horn.

Violet: It is respected and feared for its power over the ocean currents. In its presence, smooth seas can quickly become fearsome tidal waves.
