Checks and Counters
===================
**Fire-types**: Pokemon such as Magmortar, and Pyroar resist Clefairy’s STAB move Moonblast and are able to 3HKO it.
**Wallbreakers**: Strong Pokemon such as Archeops, and Dugtrio-Alola are able to 2HKO Clefairy. In particular Ursaring is able to set up on Clefairy with Swords Dance and sweep.
**Knock Off Users**: Pokemon with access to Knock Off are particularly troublesome as they can greatly reduce Clefairy’s bulk by knocking Clefairy’s Eviolite off.
**Steel-types**: Whether it's setting hazards or setting up, Steel-types can easily counter and take advantage of Clefairy. Ferroseed is a prime example of a Pokemon that uses Clefairy to its benefit.
**Poison-types**: The plethora of Poison-types in the tier are able to successfully check and apply pressure to Clefairy fairly well. These Pokemon include but are not limited to Skuntank, Muk, and Haunter.
**Taunt Users**: Pokemon that run Taunt such as Qwlfish, Skuntank, and Weezing are all able to prevent Clefairy from using its non damaging moves thus completely shutting it down.
- Thanks to its mediocre bulk of 70/48/65, Clefairy can become an exceptional special wall when paired with Eviolite.
- Furthermore, Clefairy stands out among other Fairy-types in the tier due to its expansive movepool and its ability, Magic Guard.
- Clefairy is able to find a niche primarily on defensively oriented teams due to its overall passivity.
- Unfortunately, because of its poor base Defense stat of 48, it can be easily revenge killed by strong physical attackers such as Archeops, and Golurk.
- Lastly, Clefairy receives a large amount of competition from other special walls in the tier such as Audino, and Miltank

- Eviolite gives Clefairy the extra bulk it needs to function as a specially defensive wall.
- Magic Guard further improves Clefairy’s longevity by negating both hazards and status effects.
========
- Clefairy should primarily used to pivot in on special attackers such as Raichu-Alola, and Pyroar.
- Because of its poor Defense stat, Clefairy should not be used to take on physical attacking pokemon such as Golurk, and Granbull.
- Softboiled should be used often to ensure Clefairy can keep being used as a pivot against special attackers.
- Seismic Toss allows Clefairy to hold some sliver of offensive presence but can still be shut down by Taunt users.
- Knock Off is also generally used to punish opposing switch ins by knocking off their item.
- It is important to set up Stealth Rock in the early game in order to accumulate as much chip damage as possible on the opposing team.

- Toxic and Thunder Wave can be used to cripple those offensive Pokemon Clefairy pivots in on as well as opposing switch ins.
