CAP Cries for Pokemon Showdown! ...Or just for fun :)

There has been some expressed interest in restarting the CAP Cries thread, so I guess here we are now.

Anyone and everyone is allowed to submit sample cries for CAPmons. As of this time, the thread is loosely organized. However, there still are a few rules:

1) Please do not use the upload feature to upload a sound clip/CAP cry. Instead, please use Sound Cloud and provide a link. Please mark very clearly which link/cry is for which CAPmon. Links should direct to individual CAP cries, and NOT to personal profiles.
2) Do not submit any joke entries. Not everyone has access to the same level of technologies, but that doesn't mean we will allow fart noises into a microphone, etc.
3) Please treat all others in this thread with respect. Critiques are allowed, but note that no one here is a professional.

As the thread progresses, I will probably update the OP with "standards" for PS-worthy cries, including length of the cry and all of that stuff. Do note that merely posting here will NOT allow your cry be used on Pokemon Showdown. Maybe at a much much later date, we could have an "approval" or even a voting system for such an event. But for now, since we're just starting out, things will be relatively low key and will focus on sharing and improving.

So, feel free to share your cries and to give advice to others :)

For starters I love you HeaLnDeaL
Anyway, here are some cries i've made :)

Tomohawk:https://soundcloud.com/jackferry-181880376/tomohawk-1
Consider this a WIP not 100% sure how i feel about this one but its feels at least passable as tomo.

Cyclohm: https://soundcloud.com/jackferry-181880376/cyclo-1
This one needs quite some work, particularly in sound contrast, the "thunder" is a bit to soft and short for my own taste.

Stratagem: https://soundcloud.com/jackferry-181880376/strata-1
Its here, I just wanna know if it feels quite like stratagem to y'all.

Aurumoth: https://soundcloud.com/jackferry-181880376/sets/aurumoth
This link is a collection of cries, mostly want to know which is most on track. My personal favorite is the "drastic remake" version.

EDIT:
Jynx has the longest cry at 2.238 seconds, while Pidgey's is the shortest at 0.181 seconds.

This is just for those who want a general length to keep cries in between, I just personally feel it wrong to go too far over or too far under.

I thought the Stratagem cry was really fitting! The robotic sound was really nice as it emphasizes that it isn't really organic, and it felt like a good speed too. Although for Tomohawk I was caught of guard when it was kinda bouncy almost, when I had been expecting a roar kind of thing. Pretty cool stuff!

I'm glad you liked em ^-^.
As for tomo's bouncy-ness, i did that simply because i had trouble making a cat-dog-bird-thing roar that felt like it did very much justice, but i totally wanna see if i could try and make it more of a roar.

P.S.
"Pretty cool stuff!"
D'aww stop it you.

Really great cries, these NEED to be the actual cries..How the heck did you make them? Do you know if they will be put on showdown or not?

For your first question:
I myself use rytmik ultimate.
First i find an instrument that approaches the sound i want to make.
Then i change the key it is in to better suit what i am trying to create.
After that i start doing all the fun stuff, i start to mess with the vibs, delay, env, etc.
Then if needed ill adjust pitch, and cut out sounds i dont need.
(it harder than it sounds i swear but then its not that hard)

For the second question:
As of now ill unfortunately have to answer probably not, this thread similar to the previous cry thread is purely for flavorful fun.
However, with more activity in this thread, time, and a lot of hand and knee begging perhaps mine (or anyone else's) cries can end up on showdown one day.

Extra note:
Though rytmik does a good job its not the best thing nor only thing out there. There are a variety of ways to produce cries and its always fun to see creative ways using different synthesizers and noise makers.

Yeahhh I'm excited to be a part of this! I just hope my parents can send my synthesizer from overseas soon. Best I can do now is provide some samples from my own fakemon...

Once I get it, I might go for the Cyclohm one you mentioned needs work, if that's alright? I've been able to put together lovely thunder SFX with my synth.

I absolutely adore all of these, if what you're planning for cap is anything like these we are in for a treat ^-^.

As for editing my cries i happily invite anyone to do so, i would prefer a collab environment anyway, its much more fun that way.

Cyclohm's cry, posted above, is actually one of my favourite cries and i think it would be a shame if it wasn't used for the real thing.

Hi all got another cry to drop on you beautiful people.

ITS CRUCIBELLE BOIS AND GALS AND GENDER NEUTRALS!!!!!!
https://soundcloud.com/jackferry-181880376/crucibelle-1

This one is probably gonna have a change later due to the bubbl-i-ness not quite hitting crucibelle's slimey nature.
The fun part with this one is the clink of the pot lid was done in person. I took a small ceramic pot and abused it until i got the sound i wanted, then i pitched that sound down. The bubble was however done on rytmik then joined with the clinks.

Okay, hey people! So, I am a VA. So I make sounds with my mouth hole. Exciting, I know, right?

Well, I thought I'd take a crack at doing one with my voice. And of course, I pick one that isn't even remotely organic. I still like it, tho. :3

Here you are: https://soundcloud.com/jason-taylor-jetsterjason/strategem-sound

Unfortunately, I couldn't cut the actual clip down, but I overlaid two similar sounds to get the one you hear here. I'm pretty proud, but if you want to point me in the direction of a better, more organic Pokemon, I will happily do those.

I think this is totally going in a good direction, my main issue is that its not quite.....space/rock like. I could see this cry fitting on another pokemon but i just don't 100% feel stratagem from it.

Also in terms of being organic, i feel tomohawk, arghonaut, pyroak, and colossoil would work well with an organic touch.

Overall however its pretty good and I'd love to see you make more of these, i find your method pretty interesting and cant wait for your next post. :)

PS:
http://mp3cut.net/

That site and all the links you'd find at the top bar are very helpful for various cutting, recording, joining, and converting.
For those on a budget or just in need of a good tool i highly recommend trying it. I myself used this site to make the crucibelle cry.

I really like them, but i'm not a huge fan of the echo.

I imagine Revenankh (in my opinion, one of the coolest CAP concepts, flavour included, even now, not just for it's generation) to have a cry sounding similar to a Dementor's death rattle.

Marshadow shares Revenankh's typing, but it's sprite looks like it's part fire or dark type. Just my opinion.

For some reason I'm unable to access my SoundCloud account, so I used another website for the time being. When I figure out what's up, I can edit this post with the SoundCloud links.

Kitsunoh: https://clyp.it/c00xcdg4
For Kitsunoh, I used samples of a vixen's call. Vixen calls are fox calls often mistaken for the sounds of murder victims screaming, and considering Kitsunoh's Ghost-Type, I figured it would be a perfect starting point. It's still a WIP and I'd be happy to hear any feedback on it.

I'd recommend cutting of thhe echo at the end

hello! i apologize if bumping a thread from a year back is in bad taste, but i'd like to share some of my CAP cry creations:
i'm working on some more and will post them if that's okay to do. let me know how they are!
Hi! I really like quite a few of these. I just have a few possible critiques, if I may share them!

I think Syclar sounds very solid for the bug sound behind it, and really gets the cuteness of a Prevo behind it. I just feel the mi-re-do ringing feels abit like an additional add on instead of something integrated into the cry itself, coming of a bit like a jingle. I personally think it sounds more like a cry without the jingle, but experiment and see what works! Syclant kinda just Syclar too much, using the same bug cry and the ringing is a bit too obnoxious; it doesn't really get off the aggressive feel of Syclant and seems more focused on the Ice typing. I actually think that either Embirch or Flarelm's cry works really well on Syclant, so possibly try working with that aggressive nature.

The two that were really cool though were Pyroak and Tomohawk. Pyroak's I think really embraces that bulky reptilian feel to it, and gives of a bit of a protective tinge to it that really adds an aggressive edge to it. I don't like how it goes on for though, so perhaps shorten the cry a bit. Tomohawk sounds like an eagle roaring and I really like. It needs a bit of the "cat" in Tomo's cat bird design, so perhaps make it a bit deeper.

Otherwise, nice job!

Thank you so much for the feedback - I'm glad you liked them! I totally get the parts about Syclar and Syclant, and I'll tweak some of the parameters on Syclar and rework the base of Syclant because I just used the same one as Syclar. I'll also lessen the release for Pyroak's cry and work on Tomohawk's (sorry if I'm misunderstanding but you meant the end part of the cry to be deeper, correct?). I'll be posting the updated ones soon along with some more! Thanks again :)

frostration I'm not sure how to explain it, but I really like how you made the cries for Syclar and Syclant sound "icy", in a way (I think it might be the timbre of the sounds you chose that has sort of a glassy/echoey effect). I also like the direction you're going with Revenankh with the ghastly howl! If there was one thing I might say about that, it's that maybe it could be shifted a little bit deeper or have a bit more decay/fragmentation in the audio (considering it's a rotting mummy). Really cool stuff, keep up the good work!

Out of curiosity, what program are you using to make these? I'd really like to get involved in helping you out with this however I can.

EDIT: Maybe to address LucarioOfLegends ’s concern that Syclant should sound more aggressive, what if its cry incorporated something like the sound of breaking glass?

Hey, thanks so much for the feedback and sorry about the late response! I've been swamped with work for the past couple of weeks.

As for making the cries, I use FL Studio and play around with the built-in plugins along with sound clips and soundfonts that I find.

For Revenankh, I tried to decay it a little bit. I also reworked Syclant per LucarioOfLegends 's and your suggestions, but I'm not sure if I'm getting the right idea with it in terms of aggressiveness. Let me know what you think! I've also made a couple of new cries (completely open to any suggestions on them because i'm not sure if any of them fit):
Thank you all once again for your feedback! Will be making more very soon :)

Don't worry at all about the late response! Real life always takes priority!

I think your update on Revenankh is really cool; it removes the pleasant and sonorous qualities of the original and warps them into a discordant death moan that induces anxiety in the listener, just what this mon needs!

As for Syclant, I think you might've been a bit closer with the first one. If it makes any sense, the shift in pitch from the first to the second took it from more of a "daytime winter" that I like to interpret Syclant as (anyone else can step in and say otherwise though) to more of a "nighttime winter" that almost makes me think more of Ghost-types like Froslass than Bug-types. Maybe you could work in the aggression by shortening the overall length of a cry so that it sounds more like Syclant is letting out a shrieking battle cry instead of a pleasant melody like Syclar does?

Your work on Kitsunoh is sounding amazing! I already thought that it sounded like an entrancing ghostly cry in the night, but seeing your comment on how you weren't sure if it sounded like a fox led me to look up some actual fox noises, and the results were not disappointing:
It really evokes a lot of these sounds. I find that it's almost like a mesh between the "Fox Howl" and "Gekkering."

With Crucibelle, I think you're on the right track to sounding "rocky" if that makes any sense, but my main concern right now is the metallic overtone in the background that might lead to a more "steely" sound (it almost reminds me of Bronzor and Bronzong). The same goes for Mega Crucibelle.

Your Cyclohm cry is so cool it gave me chills! I can already imagine Cyclohm coming out in battle and letting out that electric shriek to let its foes know that they're either going to get out of its way or face its tempestuous wrath!

I look forward to seeing more of your work! :)

Thanks for the feedback!! I'm working on fixing the Crucibelle ending to make it less metallic, and I'll remake a couple of versions of Syclant to make it more powerful. Glad you liked the other 3 (super glad that Kitsunoh hit the mark LOL) :)

Here's a quick one I made for Malaconda (the file is really long for some reason but the actual cry isn't).
