What? Icy Wind is uncommon nowadays, yes, but it's nevertheless totally viable.

I've had quite a lot of success with Toxic/Moonblast/Wish/Aromatherapy Florges in the early stages of the meta. Though the reason why it was working was that I had a wish-passing Latias on the same team(also, on a sidenote, I really love having two wish-passers, literally nothing dies).

I really don't see how taunt is the main problem with defog because it requires the defogger to switch into a mon that already carries taunt, which is rather unlikely. The main problem with defog is still that it removes hazards form both fields.

As a rule of thumb: Unless the the HP stat is waaay higher(and I'm talking about Chansey,Blissey or Alomola - high), HP investment is always better than specific investment.

Yeah true, me too. Though galvantula is incredibly easy to deal with, so I don't mind. About knock-off: If we are only speaking about surviving a knock-off, granbull and tangrowth can easily switch into one, too. But it sucks to lose the item.

I've had great success with that core. I use a team consisting of chansey, mega-blastoise and granbull (obviously) as well as Latias, Entei and Tangrowth. Chansey has sr and is actually quite a reliable setter in my opinion, so imho you don't need another hazard. The general goal of the team is...
